The article analyzes the role of biographical predictors of individual psychological characteristics that are included in the ‘Big Five’ of personal qualities. The analysis of the relationship of answers to psychobiographical questions included in the questionnaire of management potential (Y.V. Sinyagin, 2014) with the results of the ‘Big Five’ model is presented. The necessity of studying personality traits conducive to successful activities is substantiated. On the basis of empirical research, predictors of managerial success are characterized. Arguments are given for including data containing biographical information in methods of psychological analysis of a person. The authors show that the obtained empirical data can find their practical application in several areas. First of all, it is their direct use during interviews and interviews with leaders.

AbstractExamining the extent to which sex differences in three-dimensional (3D) facial soft tissue configurations are similar across diverse populations could suggest the source of the indirect evolutionary benefits of facial sexual dimorphism traits. To explore this idea, we selected two geographically distinct populations. Three-dimensional model faces were derived from 272 Turkish and Japanese men and women; their facial morphologies were evaluated using landmark and surface-based analyses. We found four common facial features related to sexual dimorphism. Both Turkish and Japanese females had a shorter lower face height, a flatter forehead, greater sagittal cheek protrusion in the infraorbital region but less prominence of the cheek in the parotid-masseteric region, and an antero-posteriorly smaller nose when compared with their male counterparts. The results indicated the possible phylogenetic contribution of the masticatory organ function and morphogenesis on sexual dimorphism of the human face in addition to previously reported biological and psychological characteristics, including sexual maturity, reproductive potential, mating success, general health, immune response, age, and personality.

Currently, many areas of human activity are associated with neuropsychic stress. Psychohygiene is topical for healthcare. Due to informational overload and the modern accelerated pace of life, people may experience borderline forms of neuro-mental pathology. Under the influence of psychotraumatic factors, some personality traits may turn into pathological forms. That is why diagnosing of accentuated personality traits is important, given that preservation of mental balance is an important component of normal life. The article describes the relationships between the anxiety level and the personal characteristics of students. The following methods were used: a questionnaire by Leongard and Smishek «Technique for studying a personality accentuation» and a questionnaire for measuring the anxiety level by Taylor (adaptation by T.A. Nemchinova). The study involved 239 respondents. The prevalence of accentuated character traits in the study group was 41,9% (101/239) for exalted, 25,9% (60/239) for emotive, and 25,0% (59/239) for cyclotymic.

Thirteen patients were selected for study from a population of patients undergoing routine psychiatric evaluation in a Pain Clinic. These patients demonstrated consistent character traits (traits typically seen in the narcissistic personality) and appeared to be vulnerable to the development of a chronic pain syndrome. The psychological characteristics of these patients are discussed and compared with a control group of patients with chronic pain. The developmental aspects of the syndrome are emphasized. Implications for treatment are suggested from the clinical material.

The article presents the results of a content analysis of the interviews of participants of radical nationalist groups who committed serious and heinous crimes of violence motivated by racial and religious hatred and enmity ("hate crimes"). The study involved 20 people aged 18 to 30 years. As the results of the interview, the subjects demonstrated the need for "black and white" perception of the world in which there is necessarily an image of an enemy to be destroyed. This makes them particularly susceptible to the incentive effects of extremist communications. We showed very similar socio-demographic and socio-psychological characteristics in respondents which suggest the presence of a common set of character traits that form a stable syndrome. We highlighted the socio-demographic and socio-psychological traits of individuals who are prone to commit "hate crimes".

Abstract. Legally irrelevant information like facial features is used to form judgments about rape cases. Using a reverse-correlation technique, it is possible to visualize criminal stereotypes and test whether these representations influence judgments. In the first step, images of the stereotypical faces of a rapist, a thief, and a lifesaver were generated. These images showed a clear distinction between the lifesaver and the two criminal representations, but the criminal representations were rather similar. In the next step, the images were presented together with rape scenarios, and participants (N = 153) indicated the defendant’s level of liability. Participants with high rape myth acceptance scores attributed a lower level of liability to a defendant who resembled a stereotypical lifesaver. However, no specific effects of the image of the stereotypical rapist compared to the stereotypical thief were found. We discuss the findings with respect to the influence of visual stereotypes on legal judgments and the nature of these mental representations.

Abstract. It has been suggested that people perceive psychological characteristics of situations on eight major dimensions ( Rauthmann et al., 2014 ): The “Situational Eight” DIAMONDS (Duty, Intellect, Adversity, Mating, pOsitivity, Negativity, Deception, Sociality). These dimensions have been captured with the 32-item RSQ-8. The current work optimizes the RSQ-8 to derive more economical yet informative and precise scales, captured in the newly developed S8*. Nomological associations of the original RSQ-8 and the S8* with situation cues (extracted from written situation descriptions) were compared. Application areas of the S8* are outlined.
