<p class="Abstract">This article talks about unconscious domination (Id) in the life of&nbsp;<span style="font-size: 1rem;">principal character in the novel Thérèse Raquin by Émile Zola,&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">naturalist French writer. The method used in this research is&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">qualitative method using structural theory and structural personality&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">by Sigmund Freud. The result shows that there’s character&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">development that utilize unconscious domination in Thérèse Raquin’s&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">life. Thérèse’s unconscious domination had started since he met&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">Laurent, motivated by her unequal ego since her childhood and&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">Laurent’ influence that’s also controlled by Id since his school time.</span></p>

This research paper analyzed the ego defense mechanism by Sigmund Freud that are found in the main character of “Fight Club“ novel. The author of novel is Chuck Palahniuk in 1996. This research applied qualitative study, and the data are derived from the novel. The researcher focuses on causes of defense mechanism, the ego defense mechanism that the main character experienced and the effect that the main character got. The researcher found that anxiety is the cause why defense mechanism of the main character can active. The main character also applied ego defense mechanism namely displacement and reaction formation. And the effect for the main character is he becomes more bravely and easier to accept the reality.             The ego defense mechanism is an unconscious psychological process that helps a person overcome anxiety due to a stressful internal or external  environment. The defense mechanism finds its origin in Freud's structural theory of mind, which divides the human mind into three parts: id, ego, and superego. The interaction of the ego and superego gives rise to morality, guilty, and a conscience.

The research is conducted based on the novel The Count of Monte Cristo, written by a French writer Alexander Dumas. The focus goes to anguish experienced by the protagonist of the novel, Edmond Dante, a young and handsome sailor with a brilliant prospects in career making him plunged into life of anguish. He is arrested for no reason, sent to jail with inhuman treatment. Descriptive qualitative method is applied to reveal that literary works are mirrors of all the occurrences in society. This is in line with the sociology of literature also implemented here as the approach to further analysis of the subject matters having three aspects to be used as a literary research guidelines: social contexts of the author, already showed by the author, literature as the reflection of society, revealed through the text tending to social reality and functions of literature as entertainer or remodel of society, exposed through the responses of the readers. The results show that the novel contains anguish subdivided into Non-procedural Arrest and Inhuman Imprisonment covering the whole study.

Syairiyah, Marthalita N, and Fanani, Abu Prue’s Imagination for Impassable Wilderness on Colin Meloy’s Novel of Wildwood.Keyword: Imagination, dream, and Impassable Wildernes This article studies the  imagination which appears in child’s mind on the novel of Wildwood written by Colin Meloy. Sometimes the children like to imagine with what they see, hear, and read. In this novel, Prue is one of the children who experiences adventure by her imagination.This study is conducted to enrich the topic about imagination. Imagination in the object is analyzed using dream theory by Sigmund Freud. This research is using qualitative method. The novel of Wildwood by Colin Meloy is the primary data source. While, the supporting data are taken from secondary data source.The researchers find a result of this study; Prue’s imagination before she entered the Impassable Wilderness. Her imagination sometimes seems real even though not all of their imagination become real. But, this novel makes one of the children becomes real when she faces the problem of that myth.

This research uses descriptive qualitative method with reading-note technique as data collection technique. The research data is taken from the narrative of the character Mat Dawuk in the novel Dawuk Kisah Kelabu dari Rumbuk Randu by Mahfud Ikhwan, which is analyzed using Sigmund Freud's theory of psychoanalysis. The results showed that the personality structure of the Mat Dawuk character was influenced by three personality systems, namely the id, ego, and superego. His preference in Mat Dawuk's id is Mat Dawuk's libido drive towards Inayatun. The ego that appears in Mat tries to realize and fulfill what the id wants, resulting in an attitude of loyalty, protection, until even Mat Dawuk pledges that Inayatun is a power within him - that power disappears after Inayatun dies, which is illustrated through a willing attitude. Mat to be persecuted. The superego, which acts on the principle of morality, is here to help in making decisions about what the id wants, and also helps the ego to control the id that is wanted to be fulfilled. The Mat Dawuk character also has a living instinct that comes from Inayatun. Meanwhile, after Inayatun died, Mat tended to be controlled by a dead instinct which made him helpless, and chose to withdraw from society. Not only that, the character Mat Dawuk is depicted as experiencing anxiety several times, which later will correlate with Mat's personal development in survival, or what is known as a defense mechanism, and Mat Dawuk's tendency to be in aggression and repression mechanisms. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik baca-catat sebagai teknik pengumpulan datanya. Data penelitian diambil dari pengisahan tokoh Mat Dawuk dalam novel Dawuk Kisah Kelabu dari Rumbuk Randu karya Mahfud Ikhwan, yang ditelaah menggunakan teori psikoanalisis Sigmund Freud. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan struktur kepribadian tokoh Mat Dawuk dipengaruhi oleh tiga sistem kepribadian yakni id, ego, dan superego. Id dalam diri Mat Dawuk preferensinya adalah dorongan hasrat libido Mat Dawuk terhadap Inayatun. Ego yang muncul pada diri Mat berusaha mewujudkan dan memenuhi apa yang diinginkan oleh id, sehingga timbul sikap kesetiaan, melindungi, hingga bahkan Mat Dawuk mengikrarkan bahwa Inayatun adalah kekuatan di dalam dirinya – kekuatan itu pun hilang, setelah Inayatun meninggal, yang digambarkan melalui sikap rela Mat untuk dipersekusi. Superego yang bertindak berdasarkan prinsip moralitas, hadir untuk membantu dalam pengambilan keputusan apa yang diinginkan oleh id, serta turut membantu ego untuk mengendalikan id yang bersifat ingin dipenuhi. Tokoh Mat Dawuk juga memiliki insting hidup yang berasal dari Inayatun. Setelah Inayatun meninggal, Mat cenderung dikuasai oleh insting mati yang membuatnya tidak berdaya, dan memilih menarik diri dari masyarakat. Tak hanya itu, tokoh Mat Dawuk digambarkan beberapa kali mengalami kecemasan, yang nantinya akan berkorelasi dengan perkembangan kepribadian Mat dalam bertahan hidup, atau disebut sebagai mekanisme pertahanan, dan kecenderungan Mat Dawuk berada pada mekanisme agresi dan represi.

This research is titled "Novel Suara Samudra by Maria Matildis Banda Psychology Psychology Study". The following research aims to find out the structure and relationship between psychology figures contained in the novel. There are three theories used for this research, namely structural theory based on Stanton's opinion, the theory of literary psychology by Sigmund Freud, the theory of love from Sternberg. The method used in data collection is a literature study method with advanced techniques in the form of note and write techniques. Then proceed with using the formal method and descriptive analysis method for analyzing data. Furthermore, in presenting the results of the analysis using the description method. Based on the analysis that has been done on the novel Suara Samudra, several things were discovered. First, in the analysis of the structure which included the characterizations, plot and setting depicted in the novel Suara Samudra. Second, the psychological relationship that is seen in terms of conflicts that occur between characters in the novel Suara Samudra.

The main goal of this research is to find out the psyche of the main character from When Breath Becomes Air novel using qualitative method. Psychoanalysis theory of Sigmund Freud (1856- 1939) is used to analyze the main character by the words and conversation in the novel. The result of this research shows that the psyche of the main character is balance. Id, Ego, and Superego are well played in Paul Kalanithi. In the first time, he is conquered by the Id and the ego tries to fulfill the id’s demand, shows from his passion in writing and studying Literature. By the following time, the superego appears and works as good as its moral principle, describes from his decision for being a doctor to help someone’s life. Furthermore, to make more understand about Paul Kalanithi’s psyche, the causal factors and the effects of his psyche are also analyzed in this research.Key Words: Novel, Character, Psychology, Psychoanalysis, id ego and superego

An analysis in novel of trilogy Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk (RDP) written by Ahmad Tohari focuses on how psychosexual which happen in Waras as the character. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The purpose of this research is to describe the Waras’ psychosexual  as the character in the novel which is use the psychological art approach.  Psychological art approach is an analysis which focuses on the psychological theory. This analysis model in this novel basically focuses on objective approach. The data in this research is taken from the quotation from the novel RDP which is suitable with research points.  After doing the analysis, writer found the psychosexual from the waras as the character.  The condition of Waras’ psychosexual if related to the Sigmund freud psychosexual development theory, it can be concluded that that psychosexual of Waras was not in appropriate  psychosexual development.  These psychosexual problems in Waras as character that in his seventeen he still like playing with the younger children, he also like taking care of  podang bird just like younger children, and he also is not interested with women.

This research is focused on revealing the character that has an affair that appears in novel The Girl on the Train. The purpose of this study is to             (1) To describe the cause of affair and betrayal in the story the Girl on the Train (2) To explain the affair and betrayal in the story the Girl on the Train (3) To reveals the murder investigation that expose the characters’ affair and betrayal in the story the Girl on the Train.This research analyzes about the main character, they are Rachel, Anna, Megan, and Tom. The theory used is psychology theory by Sigmund Freud which explains that the life of the human soul has three levels of consciousness namely; id, ego and superego. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method in which this research does not require statistical data to obtain reality or phenomena that occur in the community.The writer found that the protagonist character in this research was Rachel. In the beginning the story, Rachel is not like the protagonist in general, at the beginning of the character's story Rachel is an alcoholic, has severe depression because she has problems with her fertility so she cannot have children, unemployment, often lost consciousness (black out). But at the end of the story, Rachel's character changes where Rachel is involved in a murder case, when she realizes, she relentlessly tries to uncover the truth of Megan's murderous night, turning her into an unusual detective hunting for clues in her blurred memories. Finally facing the truth of her abusive marriage to Tom, she overcomes her emotional dependence, finally rejects victimization, and resumes control over her life, revealing herself to be the strongest female character in the novel. Despite her flaws, she is guided by a strong moral compass and empathy.

The novel Sepertiga Malam di Manhattan by Arumi E is very interesting to study. This novel is a novel about the struggle of a family to get happiness. This novel is the Arumi E's 27th newest novel. The struggle in this novel is to make the family happy, expecting for the baby. Before writing the novel, Arumi E did a research in the places written in the novel to achieve a very interesting fictional story and most of this story was taken from the traveling results so it was so interesting. The objective of this research is to describe (1) the Autopoetic System in the novel Sepertiga MalamdiManhattan by Arumi E. (2) The differentiation system in the Novel Sepertiga Malamdi Manhattan by Arumi E.The research method used is in the form of a descriptive qualitative method that uses a social system approach. The method used by the researcher is the dialectical method. The data source used in this research is the novel Sepertiga Malamdi Manhattan by Arumi E, published by Gramedia publisher in 2018. The data collection in this study uses the steps of reading the novel. To collect data, the researcher use any instrument.There are two results of the study: (1) The autopoetic system in the novel Sepertiga MalamdiManhattan by Arumi E. is concerning to some characters who have their own beliefs or rules in their lives who do not want to follow the rules of others, they are more confident in their own way to success and purpose of life. (2) The system of differentiation in the novel Sepertiga Malamdi Manhattan by Arumi E. is covering the handling of changes in the environment, the characters are able to adapt to the new environment, which has a different culture from the original culture. This shows evidence of the system autopoetic and differentiation in the novel Sepertiga MalamdiManhattan by Arumi E.

Kamus baca bergambar merupakan salah satu media penunjang pembelajaran yang dapat membuat siswa lebih tertarik dan mempermudah dalam proses pembelajaran. Berdasarkan observasi, bahwa banyak berbagai macam kamus baca bergambar yang ditemukan. Hal ini dapat mempengaruhi daya tangkap pemahaman siswa dalam Bahasa Mandarin. Oleh sebab itu, pada penelitian ini  peneliti berusaha menganalisis kamus baca bergambar Bahasa Mandarin sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini, yaitu 1) Mengetahui kebutuhan siswa akan kamus baca bergambar untuk mempermudah siswa dan guru belajar bahasa Mandarin, 2) Mengetahui kesesuaian kamus baca bergambar dengan kebutuhan siswa melalui analisis SWOT untuk mempermudah belajar bahasa Mandarin. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, karena peneliti akan menjabarkan kebutuhan kamus baca bergambar untuk mempermudah siswa belajar Bahasa Mandarin. Hasil dari penelitian ini menghendaki kamus baca bergambar yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa berdasarkan penyusunan kosakata, jumlah kosakata per halaman, tampilan/ layout kosakata, font Hanzi, font size Hanzi, font Pinyin, font size Pinyin, gambar/ ilustrasi.Picture reading dictionary is one of the supporting learning media that can make students more interested and simplify the learning process. Based on observations, that many various kinds of picture reading dictionaries were found. This can affect the comprehension of students' comprehension in Mandarin. Therefore, in this study the researchers tried to analyze the Chinese picture reading dictionary according to the students' needs. The purpose of this study, namely 1) Knowing the needs of students for picture reading dictionaries to facilitate students and teachers learning Mandarin, 2) Knowing the suitability of picture reading dictionaries with students' needs through SWOT analysis to facilitate learning Chinese. This research uses descriptive qualitative method, because the researcher will describe the need for  a picture reading dictionary to facilitate students learning Mandarin. The results of  this study require a picture reading dictionary that suits students' needs based on vocabulary preparation, number of vocabularies per page, display / layout of vocabulary, Hanzi fonts, Hanzi font sizes, Pinyin fonts, Pinyin font sizes, pictures / illustrations.Picture reading dictionary is one of the supporting learning media that can make students more interested and simplify the learning process.
