Staggered Truss System (STS) is a prospective steel structure system for high-rise buildings and staggered truss framing system is one of the effective design techniques to improve the efficiency of building. In addition, cost reduction arise from reduction in steel tonnage using this framing method. The purpose of this study is to carryout comparative analysis of moment resisting system, moment resisting system with shear wall, staggered truss system and staggered truss system with shear wall. In this analysis, different time histories are used. For the analysis, these structures are modeled in SAP2000 v18 and various displacement data are achieved for different types of system. After analysis of these four models, some outcomes are observed and it is concluded that displacement in staggered truss system reduced by 28% to 76% in transverse direction compared to moment resisting system. It is observed that the reduction in displacement for STS with shear wall is 7% to 43% in longitudinal direction but in transverse direction, the reduction of displacement is almost same as STS system. As per result Staggered truss with shear wall gives 46% to 76% less displacement in longitudinal direction & 28% to 77% less displacement in transverse direction for different near fault ground motion. After analyzing all data, it seems that staggered truss system with shear wall is more efficient than moment resisting system and moment resisting system with shear wall and staggered truss system.

Besides, cost reductions arise from a reduction in steel tonnage. The purpose of this study is to carry out a comparative analysis of staggered truss systems with and without a shear wall for 8, 9, and 10-storey buildings using the ETAB software. In this analysis, time histories are used. For the analysis, these structures are modeled in ETABS software and various displacement data are achieved for different types of structures. After analysis of the models, some outcomes were observed and it was concluded that the staggered truss system with the shear wall has lower displacement values compare to the staggered truss system in the x and y-direction. In the y-direction, displacement was 64% to 85% less and in the x-direction, it was 3% to 62% less than the conventional staggered truss system. So, after analyzing the data it was concluded that a staggered truss system with the shear wall is more efficient than the staggered truss system.

In this paper, the object-oriented method is used to study the pre-processing system of 3D high-rise building steel structure CAD. For the high-rise building steel structure design optimization system, users mainly contact with the functions of modeling, analysis, design checking and drawing. In fact, all these functions are carried out around the data stored behind. Three-dimensional high-rise building steel structure CAD pre-processing subsystem mainly integrates three-dimensional entity construction module, node design and editing module, construction drawing, processing drawing and CNC data output module. In this paper, the wall element is used to simulate the shear wall element, and the wall element can be automatically refined into a shell element composed of quadrilateral membrane element with rotational degree of freedom and generalized conforming bending plate element for thick and thin plate, which improves the speed and accuracy of analysis and calculation of shear wall. Various loads of high-rise building are calculated, especially the wind load of space action. It provides a new idea for wind load calculation of high-rise buildings. It is better to put forward a practical system optimization model, which can deal with the objective function, variables and constraints in a large number of engineering processing, and consider the actual constraints as fully as possible, which has strong practicability.

Abstract AISI 1141 is a resulfurized carbon steel containing nominally 1.50% manganese and 0.08-0.13% sulfur to give it free-machining characteristics. It has relatively low hardenability. Its ductility and toughness are fairly good in the longitudinal direction but tend to be low in the transverse direction. It is highly recommended for high-production automatic-machine products. This study combines specific high-rise shear wall residential projects with the Revit to demonstrate BIM application processes. The use of R-Star CAD may help to realize the link barrier of the building information model and the structural analysis software PKPM. Sequentially, the information supplement of the structural analysis model is completed by extracting the structural information with the Revit secondary development. By the collaborative design platform based on BIM technology, the paper examines the collision check of structural model, conducts collision analysis on other professional models and modifies the design scheme for conflict points. After the statistics of material usage, an optimized design is proposed. The findings of this paper could contribute to provide some reference for the specific application of BIM in structural design and realize the application of BIM technology in the process of building structure design.

Non-alloyed P355NH steel according to EN 10028-3:2003 belongs to a group of fine-grained steels for pressure vessels being used in welded construction at decompression chamber for divers. Values of the chemical, structural and mechanical characteristics and steel toughness experimentally determined fit the analyzed steel in P355NH steel group according to EN 10028-3:2003. The toughness of the analyzed steel at the test temperature of -30°C is characterized by high values of fracture energy KV in longitudinal direction between 48 and 86 J and on transverse direction between 17 and 34J. Steel toughness at the test temperature of -30°C required by ABS standard (in Section 4/5.3 and Table 1) provides for breaking energy KV of min. 35J, with ductile fracture surfaces, value that is not respected at some lots of the three batches (A, B, C) of steel. Finally, based on the direct correlation established between HV10 hardness of the fine structure and the toughness it was made a selection of the lots of non-alloy steel P355NH which correspond to ABS norm for welded construction of the decompression chamber for divers

The reinforced concrete structures, not designed for seismic conditions, amid the past earthquakes have shown us the significance of assessment of the seismic limit state of the current structures. During seismic vibrations, every structure encountered seismic loads. Seismic vibrations in high rise building structure subjects horizontal and torsional deflections which consequently develop extensive reactions in the buildings. Subsequently, horizontal stiffness can produce firmness in the high rise structures and it resists all the horizontal and torsional movements of the building. Therefore, bracing and shear wall are the mainstream strategies for reinforcing the structures against their poor seismic behaviours. It is seen before that shear wall gives higher horizontal firmness to the structure when coupled with bracing however it will be another finding that in building model, which location is most suitable for shear wall and bracing to get better horizontal stability. In this study, a 15 story residential reinforced concrete building is assessed and analyzed using building code ACI 318-14 for bracing and shear wall placed at several different locations of the building model. The technique used for analysis is Equivalent Static Method by utilizing a design tool, finite element software named ETABS. The significant parameters examined are lateral displacement, base shear, story drift, and overturning moment.

Eccentrically Braced Frame (EBF) is one of several types of braces that can be used in steel building. EBF has a good stiffness and ductility to withstand earthquake load. In EBF itself there are 3 types of links, namely: Long Link, Intermediate Link, and Short Link. Meanwhile, MRF of Moment resisting Frame is a structural system where the beams and columns are connected rigidly. MRF has a good ductility in accepting load even it has no lateral braces installed. In this research the Dafam Lotus Jember hotel consisting of 10 floors with total height of 33,6 m is modeled as a MRF system structure and steel structure equipped with EBF short link. The objective of this research is to compare the effectiveness of EBF and MRF in terms of displacement, axial force, shear force, and moment occurring in buildings. The modeling results show that EBF with short link has smaller displacement value compared to MRF. The difference between the two is 86,99%. In terms of axial force, shear force, and moment, EBF has smaller values than MRF. The differences are 79,76%, 53,91%, and 10,48% respectively. These results indicate that EBF has better capacity compared to MRF. Indonesia merupakan negara yang memiliki tingkat intensitas kegempaan yang tinggi. Ini menjadikan Indonesia tidak terhindarkan dari dampak negatif yang akan ditimbulkan oleh gempa bumi, yaitu menyebabkan kerusakan insfrastruktur fisik. Peraturan gempa SNI 03-1726-2012 membahas mengenai bresing sebagai salah satu alternatif yang dapat digunakan untuk menangani masalah gempa. Eccentrically Braced Frame (EBF) adalah salah satu jenis bresing yang memiliki kekakuan dan daktilitas yang baik jika dibandingkan dengan Concentrically Braced Frame (CBF) yang hanya memiliki kekakuan yang baik. Selain itu terdapat pula Moment Resisting Frame (MRF) yaitu salah satu sistem struktur yang memiliki sifat daktail. Melihat permasalahan yang ada, maka pembahasan ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan efektivitas dari EBF menggunakan short link dengan MRF apabila diaplikasikan pada bangunan Hotel Dafam Lotus Jember 10 lantai yang memiliki tinggi 33,6 m. Adapun efektivitas yang dibadingkan disini adalah nilai story displacement dan gaya dalam (momen, gaya geser, dan gaya aksial) yang terjadi. Hasil analisa dengan bantuan program analisa struktur menunjukkan bahwa EBF menggunakan short link memiliki nilai yang lebih kecil dibandingkan dengan MRF dalam menerima beban yang bekerja. Dari segi story displacement, selisih prosentasenya adalah 86,99% sedangkan untuk gaya dalam yang meliputi momen, gaya geser, dan gaya aksial, selisihnya secara berturut-urut adalah 79,76%, 53,91% dan 10,48%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa EBF menggunakan short link lebih efektif jika dibandingkan dengan MRF.
