AbstractExciton–polariton coupling between transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) monolayer and plasmonic nanostructures generates additional states that are rich in physics, gaining significant attention in recent years. In exciton–polariton coupling, the understanding of electronic-energy exchange in Rabi splitting is critical. The typical structures that have been adopted to study the coupling are “TMD monolayers embedded in a metallic-nanoparticle-on-mirror (NPoM) system.” However, the exciton orientations are not parallel to the induced dipole direction of the NPoM system, which leads to inefficient coupling. Our proposed one-dimensional plasmonic nanogrooves (NGs) can align the MoS2 monolayers’ exciton orientation and plasmon polaritons in parallel, which addresses the aforementioned issue. In addition, we clearly reveal the maximum surface potential (SP) change on intermediate coupled sample by the photo-excitation caused by the carrier rearrangement. As a result, a significant Rabi splitting (65 meV) at room temperature is demonstrated. Furthermore, we attribute the photoluminescence enhancement to the parallel exciton–polariton interactions.

Molten chloride salt is recognized as a promising heat transfer and storage medium in concentrating solar power in recent years, but there is a serious lack for thermal property data of molten chloride salts. In this work, local structures and thermal properties for molten chloride salt—including NaCl, MgCl2, and ZnCl2—were precisely simulated by Born–Mayer–Huggins (BMH) potential in a rigid ion model (RIM) and a polarizable ion model (PIM). Compared with experimental data, distances between cations, densities, and heat capacities of molten chloride slats calculated from PIM agree remarkably better than those from RIM. The polarization effect brings an extra contribution to screen large repulsive Coulombic interaction of cation–cation, and then it makes shorter distance between cations, larger density and lower heat capacity. For NaCl, MgCl2, and ZnCl2, PIM simulation deviations of distances between cations are respectively 3.8%, 3.7%, and 0.3%. The deviations of density and heat capacity for NaCl between PIM simulation and experiments are only 0.6% and 2.2%, and those for MgCl2 and ZnCl2 are 0.7–10.7%. As the temperature rises, the distance between cations increases and the structure turns into loose state, so the density and thermal conductivity decrease, while the ionic self-diffusion coefficient increases, which also agree well with the experimental results.

This paper prepares polyethylene/silica nanocomposites with concentrations of 3 wt% and 5 wt% by using silicon dioxide (SiO2) nanopowder (nanosilica) with particle sizes of 15 and 50 nm. Samples whose elongations are 3%, 6%, and 10% are prepared. Pulsed electroacoustic technique is applied to evaluate the space charge distribution in samples. Test results show that homocharge near electrodes is generated in the polyethylene/silica nanocomposites. Nanocomposites with a nanoparticle concentration of 3 wt% and particle size of 15 nm suppress the accumulation of space charge effectively. The amount of space charge in the samples increases with the increase in elongation. At an elongation of 10%, packet-like space charge is generated in polyethylene/silica nanocomposites with the concentration of 5 wt% and particle sizes of 15 and 50 nm. The packet-like space charge in nanocomposites whose particle size is 50 nm is more obvious than that in nanocomposites whose particle size is 15 nm. The experiment results are explained by applying interface characteristics, dipole model, and induced dipole model.
