Currently, a significant part of highly qualified athletes are students of higher educational institutions at the same time, which manifests itself not only in an ultra-high level of physical activity, but also in significant psycho-emotional stress. Therefore, the search and introduction of modern technologies in the process of sports training, including pharmacological, hygienic, rehabilitation, etc. are continuing. An essential place among such technologies is occupied by a comprehensive methodology of nutrition-metabolic support of the training process, built on the principles of evidence-based medicine and using the latest achievements of laboratory and functional diagnostics, biochemistry and pharmacology. The purpose of the study is the formation of ideas about the necessity, validity and effectiveness of nutritive-metabolic support of the process of sports training of students of higher education institutions. Nutrition-metabolic support is part of a sporting nutritiology that possesses all the features of basic science – terms, definitions, and at the same time has great practical significance, helping to form relevant and well-grounded programs of nutrition-metabolic support of the training and competitive process of athletes, as well as to contribute to preservation the health and quality of life of athletes. This position is particularly important in student sports, where the body of an athlete is exposed to additional stressors due to the complexity of the need for a rational and effective combination of the educational and training process of highly qualified athletes. Conclusion. The applied nutritive-metabolic technologies such as methods of metabolic support of motor activity should take into account the specialization and qualifications of athletes, their gender-age characteristics and should be applied depending on the training period and the orientation of the loads. In connection with the improvement and tightening of doping control, it is extremely important that sports nutrition products and special nutritional supplements that are widely used to optimize the functional state of the athlete's body and maintain their health and quality of life do not contain substances related to the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List, while ensuring a pronounced ergogenic effect

Balances in rhythmic gymnastics constitute one of the basic groups of elements. When performing any elements of the program, it is extremely important for a gymnast to maintain the balance of the body and its parts in relation to each other. At the same time, flexibility is considered a fundamental quality in the sport in question, for it determines both selection and training in sports schools. The aim of the study was to substantiate the effectiveness of the training program for young gymnasts at the initial stage of sports training (1st year of training) based on the methodology of developing the ability to balance. The study was conducted from September 2017 to March 2018 on the basis of Sports School of the Olympic Reserve No. 42 (Moscow). The participants were of the same age, which ensures the qualitative homogeneity of the sample. Two groups of participants – experimental and control – were randomly formed. In the experimental group, the training of young gymnasts was conducted according to the methodology, the main provisions of which are: the division of training in the direction of the development of physical qualities in accordance with the schedule; the use of parterre gymnastics exercises as a warm-up; a strictly determined sequence in the development of elements (small poses, concluding exercises, large poses of classical dance, forms of basic equilibria, complicated equilibria, turns). The results of the control tests showed that, in the experimental group, the average increase in the index of ability to equilibria (Δe = 30.8%) was significantly higher than in the control group (Δc = 8.3%). The practical application of the proposed technique is that it can be used in the organization of the training process of young gymnasts at the stage of initial sports training (1st year of training). Currently, when training novice athletes, the emphasis is on the development of the physical quality of flexibility. In the course of the study, the authors found it necessary to answer the question of whether the developed technique had a negative impact on the development of flexibility. They analyzed the flexibility tests used in the selection of gymnasts and saw that the quality of change in both groups was comparable. Therefore, it can be concluded that the developed methodology does not prevent the development of flexibility. The results of this study will serve as a starting point for further research on the problem of the content of the training process of young gymnasts at the stage of initial sports training.

In the article the analysis of construction of training is given in the annual loop of preparation of decathlon competitors, that allows to manage a sport from and provides continuous development of trained. The problem of preparing athletes to competitions is one of the most important in sports training. It is of great practical importance. The increase of the level of sports results is a consequence of a significant increase in the amount of training loads. Further growth of sports results is possible provided the quality of the training process is improved. Analysis of the performances of Ukrainian and foreign athletes at major competitions showed that the vast majority of athletes do not achieve their best results. The competitive period is characterized by the fact that the athlete must maintain for a long time a high level of special physical and technical training, which was acquired in the preparatory period. This can be achieved by using competitive and similar special training exercises. Participation in competitions makes high demands on the athlete's body, so in the competitive period, the athlete in their training sessions should include exercises of general and special nature. The stage of direct pre-competition training (SDPT) is an important component of the athlete's training process in the competitive period. Success in competitions largely depends on the effectiveness of the training process at this stage. It is shown that in the work on the organization and management of training of high-class athletes at the competitive stage, the success of the athlete's performance is largely due to correct scientifically sound predictions that can influence the organizational processes of athletics. The quality and accuracy of these decisions, the responsibility for their adoption increase even more at the stage of direct pre-competition preparation for the main start. Having one goal -performing at the main start, the most highly qualified athletes prepare for this start without speeding up their training, trying to solve the main task.

BACKGROUND Body image can be defined as a subjective picture of an individual’s own physical appearance established by self-observation and by noticing the reaction of others. Breast cancer and its treatment has been shown to have tremendous impact on the body image of the patients. We wanted to assess the level of body image disturbance in patients undergoing mastectomy for breast cancer and identify the relation between the body image disturbance and measures of psychosocial morbidity and quality of life. METHODS 35 female patients who had mastectomy for breast cancer were assessed preoperatively, immediately after surgery and 2 months after the surgery. They were administered body image scale questionnaire, HADS (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale), General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) and WHO QOL BREF. RESULTS Our results showed that 24 out of 35 patients (68.5 %) were Body Image Scale positive at the first interview itself. The number of positive patients increased to 27 at the second interview (77.1 %), but this change was not statistically significant and there was no change from second to third visit. Those who were Body Image Scale Positive had significantly higher anxiety, depression and GHQ12 scores. Those who had a body image disturbance also had a poorer quality of life across all domains. CONCLUSIONS This study shows that there is a high level of body image disturbance in patients undergoing mastectomy for breast cancer even before surgery. This high level also contributes significantly to their psychosocial morbidity and also negatively affects their quality of life. The purpose is to conduct an expert (medical) assessment of the main complaints of patients with symptoms of computer visual syndrome (CVS).Methods: as part of the preliminary stage of work, an individual interview was performed (according to the standard developed methodology) with 100 patients aged 24–36 years, whose professional daily activity (at least 2 years) was characterized as visually-intense work associated with electronic systems displaying information (at least 4 hours a day) and with a fairly high level of responsibility for the final result. During the main stage of the study, a special questionnaire was developed, in which the identified complaints were transformed into questions. The task of the expert — ophthalmologist was to assess the relevance of each of the questions in terms of the severity of the impact on the “quality of life” of the patient. In this case, the assessment was carried out on a 10-point scale, where 0 points — the question is not relevant; 10 points — the question is very relevant. The study involved 96 ophthalmologists aged 41.3 ± 1.6 years (age range from 32 to 62 years) with an average of 17.3 ± 1.4 years of professional experience (range from 6 to 37 years). Results: more pronounced “ocular” manifestations of the CVS were established (mean score — 8.0 ± 0.2, range from 5.0 to 9.4 points, the highest scores for 8 complaints from 8.6 to 9.4 points) compared with “visual” (average score — 6.5 ± 0.2, range from 4.1 to 8.8 points, the highest scores for 5 complaints from 7.8 to 8.8 points). A sufficiently high level of practical significance of “professional” subjective manifestations of the CVS has been established.Conclusion. The obtained data can be basic in the framework of the prospective development of a questionnaire for assessing the “quality of life” of patients with CVS symptoms, since the use of an expert (medical) assessment of identified complaints from the position of the severity of a change in subjective status significantly increases the level of reliability, reliability, as well as meaningful and constructive validity methods of assessing the “quality of life”.

AbstractIn recent years have seen increasing percentage of the elderly in the overall population. This has driven the attention to the lifestyle factors that influence the health and quality of life of this social group, including their nutrition and physical activity. Universities of the Third Age (U3A) are a valuable platform for the dissemination and broadening of the knowledge related to these topics. The nutritional habits of 61 U3A students in Poznań were evaluated on the basis of a modified KomPAN questionnaire. Their nutritional status was determined using the body mass index (BMI) and waist to hip ratio (WHR) indices. Nearly half of the respondents were overweight and 16% had first degree obesity. The WHR index in women was on average 0.8, while in men it was 1.01. Only 13% of the students declared regular eating, with 60% consuming 4-5 meals a day. Women were found to eat snacks between meals more often than men. It was also found that the majority of the elderly do not add salt to ready meals or sweeten beverages with sugars. Taking into account the observed nutritional problems and the occurrence of improper eating habits of the elderly, it is recommended to continue the education on the prevention of common diet-related diseased.
