The purpose of this study was to identify which cognitive and perceptual skills best discriminate elite female handball players according to the age group to which they belong to. The sample consisted of 73 Portuguese national teams’ female handball players, aged between 11 and 29 years, with an average of 7.5 (± 3.7) years of practice. The following tests were applied: Thurstone Identical Figures Test, Toulouse-Piéron Concentrated Attention Test, and the Nideffer Attentional and Interpersonal Style Inventory to evaluate perceptual skills, the polyreactiometer for Windows – PRWin to evaluate information processing, and an evaluation protocol for precision in anticipation using the temporal occlusion paradigm. The interpretation of the obtained discriminant function was based on the structure of the coefficients greater than |0.30|. The Seniors’ age group is discriminated from that of Talents by their better reaction, perception, and attention times, namely, by the ability to integrate several stimuli simultaneously and by a better capacity to anticipate future events more accurately. This discriminating model can help coaches recruit players as well as improve psychological training programmes.

Rokeach's Value Survey Scale was administered to seventh and eighth grade students attending Catholic ( n — 61), Episcopalian ( n — 113), Friends ( n = 29), and Public ( n — 40) Schools. The four-group stepwise discriminant function carried out found that seven value rankings maximized the minimum Mahalanobis distance between group pairs: self-controlled, salvation, social recognition, national security, courageous, equality, and obedience. Two statistically significant functions were derived, Concern for Eternal Life and Recognition Reliability and Acceptance. The scale correctly classified 56% of the students in all groups with 70.5% of the Catholic, 46.9% of the Episcopalian, 47.5% of the public school and 75.9% of the Friends students correctly classified. The composite rankings were then compared with the 13-yr.-old age-group rankings reported by Rokeach.

Aims were to determine the dimensionality of the masculinity and femininity scales of the Bern Sex-role Inventory and to select a smaller subset of items to represent the two scales. Samples of 423 girls and 255 boys in Grades 9 to 13 from middle-class homes were administered the Bern inventory and the Interpersonal Style Inventory. The intercorrelations of the 40 sex-role inventory items were factored separately by sex. The first two factors clearly represented the masculinity and femininity dimensions. The abbreviated factor scores were combined configurally to categorize subjects as masculine, feminine, androgynous, and undifferentiated. A discriminant function analysis, using 15 interpersonal style scores, indicated that two dimensions were sufficient to differentiate these four sex roles.

In the development of hotel product strategies, the proportion of diversification and differentiation is a major decision that the hotel offers a wider range of services, which will help to find most suitable for guests, or narrows down its targeted segments and provides them with specific supply elements. One segmentation aspect could be the age of guests. The most prominent and identifiable age group in the supply is the senior, which has always been important for hotels. They have the off-season demand, predictable and well-known needs, their satisfaction is easily accessible. The research is looking for the answer to the question of whether the hotels have the opportunity of acquire the senior segment and what are the special features of the products recommended for them. Parts related to the topic of tourism marketing literature have been reduced to the accommodation services in the secondary information processing section of this paper. This is followed by the identification of the segment's booking and residence habits. Primary analysis of supply will be by observation of collecting and comparing the hotels' offerings to senior guests

Visual perception is the process by which individuals assign meaning, understanding, and interpretation to what they have seen. The aim of this study was to determine the visual perceptual skills of typically developing Indian children on MVPT-4. A sample of 180 typically developing Indian students were included in the study using convenience sampling method. They were divided in six age groups with age ranging from 6years to 12 years with 30 children in each age group. It was found that visual perceptual skills of typically developing Indian children in 6-12 years of age group can be assessed using MVPT-4. Analysis was done using One-way Anova to compare the mean raw score of each age group. There was a significant difference between the age groups at statistical value of p< 0.001. The score improved with age, signifying refined and matured visual perceptual skills in older children. Age influences visual-perceptual skills of these children. This study also provides a foundation for further researches and highlights the importance of MVPT-4 as a screening tool to be used by the occupational therapist in order to assess the visual perceptual skills of children.

Purpose: To establish cutoff points for the analysis of the Behavior Observation Form (BOF) of children in the ages of 2 to 23 months and evaluate the sensitivity and specificity by age group and domains (Emission, Reception, and Cognitive Aspects of Language). Methods: The sample consisted of 752 children who underwent BOF. Each child was classified as having appropriate language development for the age or having possible risk of language impairment. Performance Indicators (PI) were calculated in each domain as well as the overall PI in all domains. The values for sensitivity and specificity were also calculated. The cutoff points for possible risk of language impairment for each domain and each age group were obtained using the receiver operating characteristics curve. Results: The results of the study revealed that one-third of the assessed children have a risk of language impairment in the first two years of life. The analysis of BOF showed high sensitivity (>90%) in all categories and in all age groups; however, the chance of false-positive results was higher than 20% in the majority of aspects evaluated. It was possible to establish the cutoff points for all categories and age groups with good correlation between sensitivity and specificity, except for the age group of 2 to 6 months. Conclusion: This study provides important contributions to the discussion on the evaluation of the language development of children younger than 2 years.

AbstractThis study investigated the development of temporal adverbs in early childhood Mandarin. All cases of temporal adverbs indicating the past, present, and future were extracted from the Early Child Mandarin Corpus (168 children in four age groups: 2;6, 3;6, 4;6, 5;6). Data analyses indicated: (1) Mandarin-speaking children produced a repertoire of 21 types of temporal adverbs, and the children in the first age group (M = 2;6) were capable of using temporal adverbs to denote past, present, and future events; (2) within each age group, the children produced significantly more future temporal adverbs than the other two subtypes; and (3) there was a significant age effect that, with increased age, more children were able to produce all subtypes of temporal adverbs. Overall, findings of this corpus-based investigation shed light upon Chinese children's early-attained ability to express the three fundamental notions of time by resorting to the appropriate linguistic devices.

Background: Determination of the identity of an unknown dead body is one of the most important medico-legal roles of forensic medicine. The present study aimed to determine the gender of the deceased body using the length of the skull sutures. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in the department of forensic medicine, Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal between the periods of January 2016-June 2017. A total of 500 dead bodies were examined for this study. We utilized the discriminant function analysis to predict a relationship between the gender and the independent variables viz. skull sutures. Results: Maximum numbers of the case belonged to 20‐29 years age group and the least were in >70 age group.  The minimum age of any case was 20 years and the maximum age was 89 years, mean of age was 38.07(standard deviation 13.61) and the median age was 35. There was a total of 307 males and 193 females. In the present study, the length of the Coronal suture is the most predictive parameter out of three in determining the gender of the deceased person with a value of 0.946. A total of 66.6% of original grouped cases [263 among 307 males (85.7%) and 70 females from 193 (36.3%)] were correctly classified using discriminant function analysis score.  Conclusion:  The correct gender from the skull of the body was identified in about two-third of the cases.

Purpose of the study: This study aims to identify the nature and type of the relationship between watching televised animated cartoons and the information processing speed and Level for sample children in the age group [5-6] Years. The sample consisted of (225) boys and girls watching animation films at an average time of (6.8) and a standard deviation (1.9) in the age group of (5-6) years. The study adopted the descriptive approach and applied the tools to the study samples. The results were analyzed and compared. The study used a data collection form and a scale for measuring information processing speed and level. Methodology: In light of the study hypotheses, the descriptive approach was used. The tools were applied to the study samples and their results were analyzed and compared. Main Findings:The results of study gave rise to findings; the most important of which are that there are statistically significant differences between children with high watching and low watching in terms of the speed and the information processing level for those with high watching ... and there is a statistically significant effect of some of the factors of watching (televised animation – laptop animation - animated cartoons in both types) watching hours on weekends (less than four hours - more than four hours) on the speed and information processing level of the child. Applications of this study: This study can be applied to children in general and can benefit teachers and parents. Novelty/Originality of this study: The animated cartoons play a prominent role in developing the speed and information processing level, in light of the lack of excessive watching hours, particularly on public holidays, and the tendency to practice real activities in the environment. Also, there is a clear impact of animation films in light of watching hours on the speed and information processing level for children, as they provide them with a world full of scenes, beautiful nature, broad imagination and beloved symbols that make them guided by their content and seek to imitate them and process them in their understanding of reality, perception, and processing of the information they receive.
