This study, which followed the descriptive analytical approach, aimed to identify the extent to which chemistry teachers practice teaching strategies related to metacognitive thinking and the direction towards the teaching profession at the secondary stage in Wadi Al-Seer schools and the relationship of these strategies to teacher attitudes Chemistry about the teaching profession. The researcher used two tools to achieve the objectives of this study, one of which was a questionnaire that included teaching strategies related to metacognitive thinking that consisted of 27 paragraphs, and the other was a measure of attitudes toward the teaching profession. Its number reached 28 items, where it was applied to the study members after verifying its validity and reliability. The results have shown, after analyzing the data of the responses of the sample members, that the extent of study members practicing metacognitive thinking strategies was average, as well as the presence of positive attitudes of the study members' towards the teaching profession and with a high degree. The results also showed a statistically significant correlation relationship at the level of significance (0.05) between the extent of study members' practice of teaching strategies and their attitudes towards the teaching profession, and there are statistically significant differences in the chemistry teachers' practice of the teaching strategy related to metacognitive thinking attributable to both sex variable and in favor of female teachers, sector variable and in favor of the private sector, and experience variable and in favor of individuals from the years of experience category less than five years. In light of the results, the study recommended the necessity of preparing and developing training programs for teachers and encouraging them to use metacognitive teaching strategies and apply them in educational situations.

ABSTRACT Considering the lack of tools to assess the results associated with the use of simulation as a teaching strategy, this study aimed to translate and validate to the Portuguese language the Simulation Design Scale (Student Version). A methodological study of instrument translation and validation was undertaken. After accomplishing all steps of the translation process, the validation process took place in the context of an event on critical patient care. In total, 103 registered nurses participated in the study. The validity and reliability of the scale, the pattern of correlation between variables, the sampling adequacy test and the sphericity test showed satisfactory results. As there is no connection among the groupings established in the exploratory factor analysis, it was decided to follow the division established in the original version. The scale was named Escala do Design da Simulação [in Portuguese]. It is concluded that the scale has good psychometric properties and an appropriate potential, although further research is needed for their consolidation.

AbstractA teaching strategy is a method, which can help students to gain knowledge, deliver information, and improve their learning. Different learning environments, such as clinical teaching, online teaching, and face-to-face traditional learning environments, require different teaching strategies for students. Choosing teaching strategies for a course is very important for nurse educators because various factors should be taken into account to make students meet the learning outcomes. The use of modern technologies in teaching strategies can improve students’ competencies and confidences. The purpose of this article is to create a toolbox integrating ten teaching strategies that can be used in different teaching environments.

Objective: The aim of this study is to explore the diversity of teaching strategies in biological education and expected results on acquisition of knowledge and fulfillment of learning outcomes in an attempt to identify which strategies work best with biology students. Methods: Three databases and search engines were used: Scopus, Google Scholars and Web of Science. Results: The teaching of biological sciences is experiencing evident transformations towards student-centered learning. As educational goals are being modernized in biology at present times. The more computer modelling, simulations and problem-based learning become part of the teaching strategy, the teaching of biology becomes more learner-centered to enhance learners’ critical thinking on complex biological processes.

Abstract The paper describes a strategy that uses problem solving to teach the thermokinetic concept, based on student’s previously established proficiency in thermochemistry and kinetics. Chemistry teachers often use this method because it ensures easy achievement of both formative and informative science skills. This teaching strategy is tailored for students that prove special intellectual resources, Olympiad participants and to those who find chemistry a potential professional route

Much attention is being paid to the students who give evidence of high achievement capability in specific academic fields. This interest includes choosing sufficient teaching strategies that suit their characteristics. However, this study aims at identifying what teaching strategies are preferred by academically gifted students in Princess Rahma University College/Al-balqa Applied University. A validated scale, covered four dimensions, was developed to measure preferred teaching strategies. The four dimensions were Presentations, Accommodations for Individual Differences, Critical Thinking Strategies, and Creative Thinking Strategies. The study sample consisted of 66 students who were academically gifted. Results revealed that the highest teaching strategies preferred by the students that were related to Creative Thinking dimension followed by Critical Thinking Strategies, the lowest preferred teaching strategy was Presentations. The study urges instructors, who have academically gifted students in their classes, to carefully employ appropriate teaching strategies that meet their needs and increase their potentials.
