Background: Adolescence is a period of fast change incorporating physical, mental, social and passionate domain. Mainstream share of teenagers encounter dissatisfaction and perplexity in taking choice while going through youth to adulthood. The present study was planned to assess the level of Anxiety among Male and Female Adolescents. Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of 30 adolescents. The number of male and female subjects was 15 each. The age of subjects ranged from 12-18 years. For the measurement of anxiety levels of the adolescents, Teat anxiety scale given by Dr. VP Sharma in 1971 was employed. Results: Mean anxiety scores of males were higher as compared to females. The level of anxiety in male adolescent subjects was observed to be higher than female subjects due to over monitored life, accommodation because of socialization design, mildness, and sentiment rivalry in each work and Confusion in taking choices. Conclusion: We conclude that the level of anxiety in male adolescent subjects is higher than female subjects.

Abstract. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between competitive anxiety and performance in young water polo players according to gender and classification. The sample was composed by 368 youth water polo players (102 girls and 166 boys) who participated in the male and female Youth Spanish Championship by Autonomic Federations. The Spanish version of the Sport Anxiety Scale (SAS-2) was used for the measurement of anxiety. Significant differences were found when considering the classification in boys (p <.05); and in “Loss of focus” variable (p <.01) when analyzing the sample by gender. In conclusion, anxiety levels are higher in children, with this variable relating to better sport performance in male water polo players; however, it is not possible to statistically confirm that it plays the same role in girls.

The Self-rating Anxiety Scale recently introduced by Zung was administered to 206 normal male and female subjects and 142 psychiatric outpatients of both sexes. Coefficient alpha and average item-total correlations were high for the two groups. The mean scores for these two groups were significantly different. These results suggest that the instrument has sufficient reliability and construct validity to justify further use in Nigeria.

Background/Aims: The association of preproghrelin Leu72Met polymorphism with plasma lipids profile was inconsistently reported and needs more studies to be confirmed. Our study was to investigate the changes of plasma lipids ratios after a high-carbohydrate (high-CHO) diet in healthy Chinese adolescents with different genotypes of this polymorphism. Methods: Fifty-three healthy university students were given a washout diet of 54.1% carbohydrate for 7 days, followed by a high-CHO diet of 70.1% carbohydrate for 6 days. The anthropometric and biological parameters were analyzed at baseline and before and after the high-CHO diet. Results: When compared with those before the high-CHO diet, body mass index (BMI) decreased in the male and female Met72 allele carriers. Decreased low-/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C/HDL-C) was observed in all participants except the female subjects with the Leu72Leu genotype. TG/HDL-C and log (TG/HDL-C) were increased only in the female subjects with the Leu72Leu genotype. Conclusion: These results suggest that the Met72 allele of preproghrelin Leu72Met polymorphism may be associated with decreased BMI induced by the high-CHO diet in male and female adolescents, while the Leu72 allele with increased TG/HDL-C and log (TG/HDL-C) in the female adolescents only. Furthermore, the decreasing effect of the high-CHO diet on LDL/HDL-C may be eliminated in the female Leu72Leu homozygotes.

The purpose of the present study was to find out the level of Anxiety among male and female adolescents. The local of the study was confined of Udaipur city of Rajasthan. The sample consisted of 60 subjects divided into two groups, 30 Male and 30 Female adolescents. Test anxiety scale by Dr. V. P Sharma (1971) was used to collect data. Mean, S.D and ‘t’ test was calculated to analyze the data. Result showed that male adolescents have higher anxiety in comparison to female adolescents.

Mean fundamental frequencies of male and female subjects obtained with FLORIDA I and a tape striation counting procedure were compared. The fundamental frequencies obtained with these two methods were similar and it appears that the tape striation counting procedure is a viable, simple, and inexpensive alternative to more costly and complicated procedures and instrumentation.

Summary: To construct a Spanish version of the Kuwait University Anxiety Scale (S-KUAS), the Arabic and English versions of the KUAS have been separately translated into Spanish. To check the comparability in terms of meaning, the two Spanish preliminary translations were thoroughly scrutinized vis-à-vis both the Arabic and English forms by several experts. Bilingual subjects served to explore the cross-language equivalence of the English and Spanish versions of the KUAS. The correlation between the total scores on both versions was .93, and the t value was .30 (n.s.), denoting good similarity. The Alphas and 4-week test-retest reliabilities were greater than .84, while the criterion-related validity was .70 against scores on the trait subscale of the STAI. These findings denote good reliability and validity of the S-KUAS. Factor analysis yielded three high-loaded factors of Behavioral/Subjective, Cognitive/Affective, and Somatic Anxiety, equivalent to the original Arabic version. Female (n = 210) undergraduates attained significantly higher mean scores than their male (n = 102) counterparts. For the combined group of males and females, the correlation between the total score on the S-KUAS and age was -.17 (p < .01). By and large, the findings of the present study provide evidence of the utility of the S-KUAS in assessing trait anxiety levels in the Spanish undergraduate context.

The present study was undertaken to find out emotional intelligence and academic achievement of male and female adolescents. The sample consists of 82 students( 41 male and 41 female adolescents) from different schools in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh. Emotional intelligence was assessed with the help of Emotional Intelligence Scale developed by Singh and Narain (2014) and academic achievement score were taken from the school records. The results revealed that there exists a significant difference in emotional intelligence of male and female adolescents. It was found that there existed significant difference in academic achievement of female adolescents and male adolescents. The mean emotional intelligence of female adolescents was better than of male adolescents. On the dimensions of emotional intelligence, it was found that there was no significant difference between male and female adolescents on understanding emotions, empathy and handling relations dimensions of emotional intelligence; while it was reported that there was significant difference between male and female adolescents on understanding motivation dimension of emotional intelligence On the other hand, it was found that there existed significant difference in academic achievement of female adolescents and male adolescents.
