The present investigation was carried out to study the impact of Self-efficacy on Psychological Well-being among undergraduate students. The sample consisted of 100 (50 Male and 50 Female) students selected from the Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. In order to collect the requisite data, General Self-Efficacy Scale (S. Sud, Schwarzer and Jerusalum, 1995) and Psychological Well-being (Carol Ryff, 1989) was used to study the mentioned problem Simple Linear Regression was used analysis impact the self efficacy on psychological well being among undergraduate students. The findings of the present study show that, correlation between Self-efficacy and Psychological Well-being among Male students was found R = .596 and actual contribution of predictor variable to criterion variable was found to be 35.6% whereas among Female students correlation between Self-efficacy and Psychological Well-being was found R = .551 and actual contribution of predictor variable to criterion variable was found to be 30.4%. Further t-test was applied between Self-efficacy as well as Psychological Well-being of both groups, where it was found that there was insignificant difference between Self-efficacy of Male and Female students but a significant difference was found between Psychological well-being of both groups.

This mixed-method study assessed the impact of an internet-based, self-management intervention (“HeLP-Diabetes”) on the psychological well-being of adults with type 2 diabetes. Nineteen participants were recruited from 3 general practices. Data were collected at baseline and at 6 weeks follow-up. Access to HeLP-Diabetes was associated with a significant decrease in participants’ diabetes-related distress (Z=2.04,p=0.04, andd=0.28). No significant differences were found in emotional distress or self-efficacy. The qualitative data found that participants reported improvements including increased self-efficacy and support, better management of low mood, greater diabetes awareness, and taking the condition more seriously. Participants also reported making improvements to their eating habits, exercise routine, and medical management. Some negative experiences associated with using the intervention were mentioned including feelings of guilt for not using the intervention as suggested or not making any behavioral changes, as well as technical and navigational frustrations with the intervention. Internet-based self-management interventions may have the potential to decrease diabetes-related distress in people with type 2 diabetes. The qualitative data also suggests internet interventions can positively impact both psychological and behavioural outcomes of adults with type 2 diabetes.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the impact of gender and location of the college students on psychological well being. The sample for the study comprised of 100 college students from jalna city. In each 50 male students (25 urban and 25 rural male students) and 50 female students (25 Urban and 25 rural female college students). The scale was used for data collection psychological well being scale by Bholge and prakash (1995). Where gender and location were considered as independent variables and psychological well being as dependent variables. 2×2 factorial design was used and data were analysis by Mean, SD and ‘t’ values. Results revered no significant difference between male and female, Urban and Rural college students on psychological well being.

The study was designed to investigate the impact of certain personal variables on psychological well being of call centre employees. The sample consisted of 240 call centre employees (120 Male/120 Female) selected randomly from Vodafone Call Centre of Ahmedabad city. Psychological well being scale of Dr. Bhogle and Prakash was used. Results revealed that there exists a significant difference between psychological well being and variables such as Sex, Age, Type of Family, work Shifts and working time of Call center employees. No significant deference observed between Psychological well being of married and unmarried employees. And also no significant difference was found between Psychological well being and Education of Call centre employees.

Introduction: Dancing is a powerful impulse and helps in channelizing ones energy. It serves different purposes for different individuals. Some seek entertainment with help of dancing whereas someone else might indulge in dancing because of the health benefits that come along. Various emotional can be attached to dancing and in turn it also caters to emotional needs of individuals. The purpose of this study was to study the impact of contemporary and western dancing styles on the well being levels of young females. Methodology: A sample of 80 females between 17-21 years of age was taken up for this particular study. The sample was divided equally into two groups of contemporary and western dancing styles. The Ryff Psychological Well Being Scale was used for administering the well being levels of participants’ pre and post the dance training. Results and Implications: The results showed that there was no significant difference between the well being levels of individuals on pre and post dance training measures. There was no significant difference between the overall well being levels of contemporary and western dance training groups. Also, there was no increase in the well being levels of young females post the dance training.

AbstractThe present paper examined the role of perceived emotional intelligence-EI- (measured by adaptations of the Trait Meta-Mood Scale - TMMS, Salovey, Mayer, Goldman, Turvey, & Palfai, 1995) as a predictor of life satisfaction and mental health. We explored the unique contribution of EI dimensions (Attention, Clarity and Repair) on individuals’ psychological well-being, after controlling for the influence of general self-efficacy and socio-demographic variables (age, gender and culture). Data was collected from a sample of 1078 Spanish, Mexican, Portuguese and Brazilian undergraduate students (Mage = 22.98; SD = 6.73) and analyzed using hierarchical multiple regressions. Results indicated that overall EI dimensions (especially Clarity and Repair) accounted for unique variance on psychological well-being above and beyond general self-efficacy and socio-demographic characteristics. These findings provide additional support for the validity of perceived EI, and suggests that EI components contribute to important well-being criteria independently from well-known constructs such as self-efficacy.

The present study attempts to explore the differences in Academic Achievement and Psychological Well Being and its components – Satisfaction, Efficiency, Sociability, Mental Health, and Interpersonal Relations in low and moderate level of hemoglobin of urban College female students. It also tries to find out how hemoglobin, Psychological well –being and academic achievement correlate to each other. For this study 200 (100 low hemoglobin level   and 100 moderate hemoglobin level) college female students were selected by random sampling method. This sample is collected from the project ‘Health awareness and hemoglobin improvement programme’, which is being collaboratively conducted by ‘ Akshyabhasha , MESA, U.S.A. and Smt. M.G. Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Sangli, Maharashtra, India. Psychological Well-Being Scale was used to collect the data. Students’ academic achievement was collected through college record and hemoglobin level of female students was collected from project record. Data was analyzed by using independent‘ t ’ test and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. The finding of the study revealed significant differences between low hemoglobin and moderate hemoglobin groups regarding efficiency and mental health. No significant difference was observed on satisfaction, sociability and interpersonal relations. It is also found that there is significant difference between low hemoglobin and moderate hemoglobin groups on academic achievement. The study revealed positive correlation between hemoglobin and academic achievement and Psychological well-being and academic achievement. Moderate hemoglobin level creates more efficiency, better mental health and good academic achievement in female students. One could say that there is significant role hemoglobin plays in Psychological well being and academic achievement of college female students. Anemia is widely prevalent in all the states if India among all age groups. In India, college girls contribute major portion of population. It has been reported that 80%female population has hemoglobin deficiency, due to illiteracy of female, family structure, status of women, diet habits, gender discrimination and various superstitions. The deficiency of hemoglobin affects physical and mental health, general behavior and academic performance of students. This study is useful to educational managements, counselors, parents, students and Government also. In the development of student’s personality physical as well as Psychological health is essential. This research findings will create awareness about physical and mental health among people and society.

Aim of the research is to find out the psychological Well being among B.ed college students, so investigator selected two groups one is male and other is female, both groups have 120 students. In each group has 60 male and other one groups has 60 female students. Data were collected from different collages of v.v.nagar city. Scale was use for data collection is personal datasheet and psychological Well being scale developed by Bhogale and Prakash (1995), 2×2 factorial design was used and data were analysis by ANOVA test. Result show, There is no significant difference between the Psychological Well being among male and female B.ed college student. There is no significant difference between the Psychological well-being among urban and rural B.ed college student. There is no significant difference between the effect of interaction on Psychological Well being among type of sex and type of area of B.ed college student.

This study aims to improve the psychological well-being of adolescent orphanages through psychological capital training. The psychological capital aspects provided in this training were hope, self-efficacy, resilience, and optimism (HERO). The material was conveyed using the experiential learning approach with lecturing, audio-visual method, written assignments, discussion, plays, and reflection. The research participants were 20 teenagers from Pelita orphanages (14-18 years) at Surabaya. The design chosen was one-group pretest-posttest design. Data were collected using The Ryff’s Scale of Psychological Well-being and analyzed using paired sample t-test with the help of SPSS 16.0 version. The result shows that there is a significant difference in participants’ psychological well-being between before and after training was given. This proves that HERO training in this study is able to improve the psychological well-being of adolescent orphanages.Keywords: psychological well-being, psychological capital, teenage orphanages Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan psikologis remaja yang tinggal di Panti Asuhan Pelita melalui pelatihan modal psikologis. Aspek modal psikologis yang diberikan pada pelatihan ini yaitu hope, self-efficacy, resilience, dan optimism (HERO). Materi disampaikan menggunakan konsep experiential learning dengan metode lecturing, audio-visual, tugas tertulis, dikusi, permainan, dan refleksi. Partisipan penelitian yaitu 20 remaja (14 – 18 tahun). Desain yang dipilih adalah one-group pretest-posttest design. Variabel kesejahteraan psikologis diukur menggunakan The Ryff Scale of Psychological Well-being. Analisis data kuantitatif menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan diberikan. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa tingkat kesejahteraan psikologis meningkat setelah diberi pelatihan HERO.

Purpose Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is associated with multiple psychosocial and behavioral factors. Prior research suggests that mind-body interventions may support the development and maintenance of healthy behaviors and improve health-related quality-of-life in such patients. We sought to qualitatively explore cognitive, psychosocial, and behavioral changes in patients with COPD who participated in two different mind-body interventions compared to an education control. Methods We analyzed semi-structured qualitative exit interviews from a prospective, randomized pilot trial (N = 123) investigating 12-weeks of Tai Chi (TC) vs. mind-body breathing (MBB) vs. education (EDU) control in patients with moderate-severe COPD. TC involved traditional movements, that integrate meditative breathing, while MBB focused mainly on meditative breathing techniques alone. Interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Qualitative analysis of randomly selected transcripts was performed by two independent reviewers using an iterative process to identify emergent themes informed by grounded theory methods until thematic saturation was reached. Results A total of 66 transcripts were reviewed (N = 22 TC, N = 22 MBB, N = 22 EDU). Participants were mean age = 68.1 years, GOLD Stage = 2.3, baseline FEV11 percent predicted mean (SD): 58% (13.4), 42.4% female. We identified six frequently mentioned themes: 1) overall awareness and understanding, 2) self-care knowledge, skills and behaviors, 3) behavior-related neurocognitive concepts, 4) physical function, 5) psychological well-being, and 6) social support/social function. Compared to EDU, more participants in TC and MBB noted improvements in awareness of self and the mind-body connection (e.g., body and breath awareness), knowledge of breathing techniques and integration of self-care skills with daily activities, self-efficacy for symptom management (particularly managing anxiety and dyspnea), acceptance of disease, physical function improvements (e.g., endurance, dyspnea, fatigue), and psychological well-being (particularly relaxation, emotion regulation and decreased reactivity). Compared to MBB, those in TC shared more intention to continue with self-care behaviors, physical activity self-efficacy, and improved flexibility. All three groups, including EDU, noted increased social support and knowledge of disease. Those in EDU, however, had fewer mentions of processes related to behavior change, and less concrete changes in neurocognitive, psychological, and physical function domains. Conclusions Mind-body interventions including meditative breathing may impact behavior-related neurocognitive and emotional factors that improve self-care management and support positive behavioral changes in patients with COPD.
