In this paper, a new strategy to design static output-feedback controllers for a class of vehicle suspension systems is presented. A theoretical background on recent advances in output-feedback control is first provided, which makes possible an effective synthesis of static output-feedback controllers by solving a single linear matrix inequality optimization problem. Next, a simplified model of a quarter-car suspension system is proposed, taking the ride comfort, suspension stroke, road holding ability, and control effort as the main performance criteria in the vehicle suspension design. The new approach is then used to design a static output-feedbackH∞controller that only uses the suspension deflection and the sprung mass velocity as feedback information. Numerical simulations indicate that, despite the restricted feedback information, this static output-feedbackH∞controller exhibits an excellent behavior in terms of both frequency and time responses, when compared with the corresponding state-feedbackH∞controller.

This paper concerns static output feedback design of discrete-time linear switched system using switched Lyapunov functions (SLFs). A new characterization of stability for the switched system under arbitrary switching is first given together with -performance evaluation. The various conditions are given through a family of LMIs (Linear Matrix Inequalities) parameterized by a scalar variable which offers an additional degree of freedom, enabling, at the expense of a relatively small degree of complexity in the numerical treatment (one line search), to provide better results compared to previous one. The control is defined as a switched static output feedback which guarantees stability and -performance for the closed-loop system. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed conditions.

This paper investigates the robust stability for a class of stochastic systems with both state and control inputs. The problem of the robust stability is solved via static output feedback, and we convert the problem to a constrained convex optimization problem involving linear matrix inequality (LMI). We show how the proposed linear matrix inequality framework can be used to select a quadratic Lyapunov function. The control laws can be produced by assuming the stability of the systems. We verify that all controllers can robustly stabilize the corresponding system. Further, the numerical simulation results verify the theoretical analysis results.
