Indonesia is a country that adheres to a dual banking system, namely conventional and Islamic Banking. The growth rate of Islamic banking in the last three years is higher than conventional banking. However, in total assets, Islamic banking is still far behind conventional banking. Therefore, it is necessary to study further the performance of Islamic banking reflected in its profitability. So, it becomes an alternative input in determining Islamic banking policies. This study aims to know the factors affecting the profitability (ROA) of Islamic Banking in Indonesia. The data used are the 2014-2020 monthly data in the amount of 79 data. The method used in this study is a Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) to determine the effect of long-run and short-run relationships. The results of the study showed that the long-run relationship of the NPF variable affected and was significant positive toward ROA, CAR affected and was significant negative toward ROA, while the inflation variable had a negative relationship and not significant toward ROA. The results of the short-run relationships showed that the NPF and CAR variables positively affected ROA, while the inflation variable did not significantly affect the ROA.

In modern conditions, the methods of classical economic analysis are not enough to solve the problem of bank stability. This requires the development of methods and tools to analyze the current situation in the bank and to develop sound management decisions aimed at ensuring the stability of the bank. The article notes that the analysis of the influence of the structure and quality of assets on the profitability of commercial banks is an important step for assessing the financial position and reliability of a bank, and a method is proposed for constructing a model of the dependence of bank’s profitability on the factors that determine it. The scientific sources were the works of Russian and foreign researchers in the field of modeling and characteristics of the banking system, financial stability of credit institutions, assessment of the creditworthiness of potential borrowers, system organization and information technology. The article uses the methods of economic analysis, differential calculus and mathematical statistics, as well as the achievements of the main scientific schools dealing with the problems of economic and mathematical modeling and economic analysis of banking. In order to determine the most significant economic factors affecting the profitability of commercial banks, generalization of the theoretical, methodological and applied aspects of studies devoted to the study of the influence of the structure and quality of assets on the profitability of commercial banks was carried out, and a correlation and regression analysis was made. The model presented in the article can be used to predict changes in the profitability of Russian commercial banks and to predict promising directions for growth in profit and profitability of the bank.

This paper examines empirically the factors affecting the adoption of internet banking in Tunisia using the Theory of Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). Security and privacy construct were selected as additional factors because of their potent influence on the use of internet banking system. For this purpose, a Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) is employed to examine the inter-correlations among the seven proposed constructs. A survey involving a total of 284 respondents is conducted and confirmatory factor analysis used to determine the measurement efficacies. This study confirms the appropriateness of TAM, TPB, and the security and privacy construct in predicting intention to use internet banking in a Tunisian banking environment. This research reveals that TAM and TPB could be used to provide a solid theoretical foundation of internet banking in Tunisian acceptance case. The study contributes to the literature of internet banking in Tunisia.

A sustainable and financially stable banking system is a prerequisite to achieve comprehensive growth as well as economic and social well-being of residents of any country. This research focused on analyzing profitability of Indian banks and how it is affected by lending in the priority sector. Priority sector lending (PSL) mainly includes deployment of credit to weaker and neglected segments of an economy. The study adopted a distinctive measure to represent total PSL by classifying it into four sub-segments i.e., agriculture, industrial, service, and personal credit. Applying panel least square regression with fixed and random effects model, the study concluded that agricultural lending has a significant negative impact on bank profitability whereas the service sector lending adds positive value towards financial profitability of banks. Industrial and personal credit were found to be insignificant factors affecting profitability. The study will be beneficial to banking professionals and policy makers to determine sensitive and risky sectors of lending and develop appropriate approaches to deal with them.

Instabilities in the banking sector have had an adverse effect on the economy as a whole, since the largest share in the financial system and financial intermediation in Kyrgyzstan have been captured by banking sector. Economic efficiency in banking can be viewed as a source of financial stability of banking system. Economic efficiency of the banking is more important challenge not only for shareholders and managers of banks, and also for regulation and supervision authorities, and public and potential investors. The aim of this study is to examine factors affecting the banking cost efficiency for Kyrgyz banks. It is also important to choose the appropriate approach in measurement of banking cost efficiency, since there are many different methods. In this study preferred stochastic frontier approach which assumes random error term which captures sampling, measurement and specification errors. We adopted stochastic cost frontier model proposed by Battese ve Coelli (1995) which also allow to examine investigate the impact of variables on efficiency. We used unbalanced panel data set captured 17-23 Kyrgyz commercial banks for period of 2000-2013. Obtained results suggest that capitalization, foreign ownership, credit risk, liquidity risk and currency risk have most influence on cost efficiency scores of banks calculated averagely at level of 0,766. Overall results indicate that domestic banks more cost efficient than domestic private and foreign banks. Average cost efficiency scores of domestic banks, foreign and separately public banks are 0,848; 0,649 and 0,875, respectively.

The article is devoted to the review of the current state, problems and directions of improving the activities of banking and microfinance organizations (MFIs) in the lending market. The methods of attracting customers to obtain loans are analyzed and the international experience of banking and non-banking organizations in the field of lending to the population is investigated. It was concluded that the economic development of the state not only implies, but also requires the development of market lending mechanisms that can not only provide banking institutions with a profit, but also ensure stable economic growth. In addition, it should be noted that there is a different focus on research in this area, as well as the lack of a unified approach to determining directions for improving lending competitiveness, and the mismatch between the chosen strategies for the real situation that has developed in Ukraine. It has been established that the largest share in the lending market belongs to consumer loans, classic loans to individuals, when borrowed funds are taken to pay for various necessities of life. At the same time, the presence of negative trends and factors affecting the stability and stability of the banking system has been identified, which makes it necessary to study and constantly monitor the status of consumer lending in order to identify potential problems. It is stated that at present, to expand the client market of credit institutions, it is necessary not only to expand the range of items provided under credit, but also to disseminate information and promote these services on the market. The main ways to attract customers to obtain loans and events that are actively used by credit institutions around the world are identified. The opinion of leading experts on the need to address a number of tasks to ensure the rights and legitimate interests of borrowers in the field of consumer lending is recorded. The principles of building a hierarchical system for working with loan applications are outlined. Keywords: lending, banking institutions, macro-financial organizations, borrower, money market, profitability, interest.

There are many types of risks related to banking operations such as credit risk, interest risk, operational risk. Problems related to moral hazard have led to considerable setbacks for the economy in general and banking system in particular. Besides, moral hazard is an economic and financial terminology and is used to denote the risk generated from the deterioration in ethical conduct.
