With advances of globalisation at the close of the 20th century, economic development started to rely more and more heavily on innovation in information and communication technologies (ICT). Through progress in this field, there appeared new possibilities of communicating, and acquiring and processing information. The application and practical use of information and communication technologies began to determine the competitiveness of businesses, regions, and states.Most of the works on the growing role of ICT in the economy published to date have employed an approach developed within economic sciences; they have largely been analyses of a dynamic nature. The spatial aspect has often been ignored. The concept that fills the gap is the theory of the spatial diffusion of innovation employed in the geographical sciences. The present article seeks to reconstruct the spatial diffusion of ICT in the enterprises of Wielkopolska voivodeship, using the EAN bar code in the years 1990–2002 as an example. The analysis showed the mechanism of ICT spread and provided a basis for a typology of communes by the rate of adoption of this type of technology. In this way, areas were identified in which innovation appears in the initial period of the spatial diffusion process, i.e. the most innovative ones, and those where innovation appears at a later time, i.e. lagging behind.

Organising information in ways that encourage knowledge sharing turns information management into knowledge management or knowledge facilitation. This chapter investigates the role of portals in achieving this goal. A coordinated approach is required to achieve knowledge advantage (K-Adv) through the sharing of knowledge and diffusion of innovation through the organisation. Organisations, large and small and across industries, are now recognising that unless they take steps to establish the required information and communication technologies (ICT) infrastructure to support people to effectively use knowledge in their business activities, they will not gain the benefits which K-Adv offers.

If we want to convert our rural population into knowledge driven, progressive, self sufficient, self reliant, sustainable society, the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT’s) cannot be ignored. Timely availability information is considered as most important factor in Indian agriculture. At present ICT is the technology of this millennium. Transferring the developed technology to all end users is time-consuming and tiresome task and is often not completed due to paucity of resources and lack of manpower. AbstractSeveral decades of research have addressed the role of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology. However, segmented research streams with myriad terminologies run the risk of construct proliferation and lack an integrated theoretical justification of the contributions of ICT concepts. Therefore, by identifying important trends and reflecting on key constructs, findings, and theories, our review seeks to determine whether a compelling case can be made for the uniqueness of ICT-related concepts in studying employee and performance in I-O psychology. Two major themes emerge from our review of the ICT literature: (a) a technology behavior perspective and (b) a technology experience perspective. The technology behavior perspective with three subcategories (the “where” of work design, the “when” of work extension, and the “what” of work inattention) explores how individual technology use can be informative for predicting employee well-being and performance. The technology experience perspective theme with two subcategories (the “how” of ICT appraisals and “why” of motives) emphasizes unique psychological (as opposed to behavioral) experiences arising from the technological work context. Based on this review, we outline key challenges of current ICT research perspectives and opportunities for further enhancing our understanding of technological implications for individual workers and organizations.

The arrival of information and communication technologies is nothing new. The number of people using these technologies and moving in cyberspace is growing, and therefore it is an important role of the state to respond sufficiently to such developments. A fundamental role of the state is to create a stable security system consisting of complex legislation as well as creation of a legislative environment capable of responding flexibly to the growing number of diverse incidents in cyberspace. Sufficient legal regulation consisting of unambiguous determination of competencies and tasks of individual subjects represents the basic pillar for the creation of a stable security system. The role of the state is also to maintain existing and create new partnerships with organizations that are able to provide relevant information and knowledge in the field of cyber security.
