Stress measurements of coarse-grained material are difficult using synchrotron X-ray diffraction because the diffraction patterns of coarse-grained materials are spotty. In addition, the center of the diffraction pattern is unknown for the transmitted X-ray beam. Here, a double-exposure method is proposed as the countermeasure against this issue. In the experiment, we introduce a CdTe pixel detector. The detector is a newly developed area detector and can resolve high-energy X-rays. The strains of the coarse-grained material can be measured using a combination of the double-exposure method, white synchrotron X-ray, and the CdTe pixel detector. The bending stress in an austenitic stainless steel plate was measured using the proposed technique. As a result, the measured stress corresponded to the applied bending stress.

AbstractFor determination of stress in a localized area, we combined a modified single exposure technique and the imaging plate, which is an x-ray digital area detector. With the, single exposure method, stress value is obtained from lattice strains in two directions with a single incident x-ray beam directed at an oblique angle. However, since diffraction data around a whole Debye-Scherrer ring was used in this study, a stress value can be accurately determined in comparison with the single exposure method. We observed the DS ring by use of the imaging plate with requiring only a short exposure time. Lattice strains in many directions on a DS ring were measured by an image analyzer connected to a computer; we verified the effectiveness of this method.

Digital image hologram and double exposure method is used to measure displacement of an object in this paper, the intensity of object light has been increased effectively, the contrast of interference fringes has been improved, clear interference fringes has been gotten. A new method has been proposed that CCD and EALCD are applied in order to record the digital hologram and interference fringes, the drawback is avoided successfully that fixing, relocation and nonlinear recording of traditional hologram recording material are. Better experimental effect is achieved.
