The purpose of this study was to describe the forms of errors in use (diction) of the choice of words by provincial legislative and party leaders in West Sumatra on social media. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data source in this study is utterances written by legislative officials and party leaders on Facebook. The results showed 199 data / utterances were careful, in the use of word choice in terms of inaccuracy, inaccuracy, and discrepancies, found 13 speeches that did not follow the use of word choice in terms of discrepancies, 3 utterances that did not follow the use of word choice in terms of inaccuracies, and 2 utterances that do not follow the use of word choices in terms of non-conformityKeyword: word choice, legislative officers, facebook

The purpose of this study was to describe the forms of violations of the principle of cooperation by legislative officials and city level party leaders in West Sumatra on social media. This study used a qualitative-descriptive method. The data source in this study is in the form of speech in the Facebook status of officials and party leaders. The object of this research is the speech on Facebook of legislative and party leaders. Data collection was carried out by (1) printing screenings on Facebook of city-level legislative and party leaders in West Sumatra; (2) transcribing writings on facebook city level legislative and party figure officials in West Sumatra; (3) pay close attention to the writings on Facebook of city-level legislative and party figure officials in West Sumatra which are included in the section on language performance and politeness of communication; and (4) determine data included in the language performance section and politeness of written communication. Analyzing data is done with the aim of grouping data, analyzing data, and determining conclusions.Keywords: performance, facebook, linguistic, communication

This paper aims to reveal the mistakes of micro Arabic in the aspects of Ilm Saut (phonology), Sharaf (morphology), Nahw (Syntax), and 'Ilm Dalalah (Semantics) in preaching materials conveyed by ustadz and ustadzah included in the groups of "Ustadz Sunnah" and "Islam itu Indah". Arabic mistakes are often made by ustadz and ustadzah who often appear on social media. In general, an ustadz must have good Arabic language skills. The vast emergence of ustadz and ustadzah on social media is allegedly not accompanied by their qualified mastery of the primary language used in Islamic teaching sources and primary books, namely Arabic. Hence, the researchers used micro linguistic theories comprising the studies of phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics therein. This study applied a descriptive-qualitative method. Researchers not only described the Arabic mistakes made by those of "Ustadz Sunnah” and "Islam itu Indah" but also provided corrections to such mistakes. In analyzing the data, the researchers used a separate analysis method. The findings demonstrated that those of "Ustaz Sunnah" and "Islam itu Indah” made mistakes in verbal Arabic at phonemic, morphemic, syntactic, and semantic levels.

The lack of knowledge about the application of maxims and politeness scale in everyday life cause more violation of politeness in communication. Speech deviations also occur in the Uang Panai Mahar film which raises the cultural theme of a moral message..This study aims to discuss and describe the maxims deviation and politeness conversation from film. The data of this study are the form of maxims deviation and politeness scale by using Leech perspective. The data source in this study is Uang Panai Mahar film, which published by Makita Cinema Production, on August 25, 2016. The film lasted for 1 hour, 59 minutes and 42 seconds. This study used descriptive qualitative method. This study found out some of maxims deviations and politeness scales, they were 1) deviation of wisdom, 2) deviation of generosity, 3) deviation of rewards, 4) deviation of simplicity, 5) deviation of accuracy and 6) deviation of sympathy. Meanwhile the politeness scale of this film were 1) the loss and gain scale, 2) the choice scale, 3) the sustainability scale and 4) social distance scale.

This article aims to discuss the destructive nature of Indonesian language through Instagram social media. The method used is descriptive qualitative method with a content analysis approach. Use data in the form of captions from uploading Instagram accounts @ young_lex18. The mix between Indonesian and foreign languages is the main highlight of the caption from account @ young_lex18. Using Indonesian and foreign languages in one sentence that does not comply with the writing rules can cause the existence of Indonesian to fade away. Caption is used to clarify content in uploads or express what is felt. The language used is in accordance with what is felt, so the writing rules are not cared.

This study describes the conceptual metaphors of love in the lyrics of Taylor Swift's 1989 album. The purpose of this study is to describe the use of metaphors and conceptualize love-themed data. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with proficient free listening technique by taking song lyrics from Taylor Swift. The data source is song lyrics in Taylor Swift's 1989 album. The selection of the data sources is motivated by the fact that Taylor Swift is a singer who produces songs based on personal experiences. This makes the puns for the song more beautiful and poetic. The results show that the conceptualization of love metaphors found on Taylor Swift's 1989 album namely (1) love is a game, (2) love is fire, (3) heartbreak is the national anthem, (4) love is the object of trouble, (5) love is the throne, (6) love as glassware, (7) love as an object of color, (8) love is journey, (9) love is a sin, (10) love as a ship object, (11) love is life, (12) love is a trap, (13) love as an object falls, (14) love as an intoxicating object, (15) love is power and (16)  love as an object is hunted.AbstrakPenelitian ini mendeskripsikan metafora konseptual cinta dalam lirik lagu Taylor Swift di album 1989. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan metafora dan mengonseptualisasikan data yang bertema cinta. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik simak bebas libat cakap dengan mengambil lirik lagu dari Taylor Swift. Sumber data yang digunakan ialah lirik-lirik lagu pada album 1989 milik Taylor Swift. Pemilihan sumber data dilatarbelakangi bahwa Taylor Swift seorang penyanyi yang menghasilkan lagu berdasarkan pengalaman pribadi bersama pasangannya. Hal ini memunculkan permainan kata-kata yang terkesan lebih indah dan puitis. Hasil identifikasi menunjukkan konseptualisasi metafora cinta yang ditemukan pada album 1989 milik Taylor Swift antara lain (1) cinta adalah permainan, (2) cinta adalah api, (3) patah hati adalah lagu kebangsaan, (4) cinta sebagai objek masalah, (5) cinta adalah takhta, (6) cinta sebagai barang pecah belah, (7) cinta sebagai objek warna, (8) cinta adalah perjalanan, (9) cinta sebagai perbuatan dosa, (10) cinta sebagai objek kapal, (11) cinta adalah kehidupan, (12) cinta adalah perangkap, (13) cinta sebagai objek yang jatuh, (14) cinta sebagai objek yang memabukkan, (15) cinta adalah kekuatan, dan (16) cinta sebagai objek yang diburu.

Abstract Koalisi Pemuda Hijau Indonesia (KOPHI), a community engaged in the environment, often discusses issues and phenomena that occur at that time. In carrying out their activities, Media and Communication (MedCom) team utilized instagram social media as a media publication activity, descriptive study: on the instagram account @_kophi. However, the low instagram engagement is an obstacle in gaining feedback from followers. The purpose of this study is to find out how to use instagram @_kophi social media throught several stages of share, manage, optimize, and manage. This research uses the main theory of social media namely The Circular Model of SoMe from Regina Luttrell. This study used a descriptive qualitative method and this study contained 3 key informats and 5 informants in this study. The results showed that at the share stage, the instagram social media chosen by KOPHI community was appropriate. In the optimize stage, the use of instagram @_kophi is quite optimal but KOPHI does not have a spacific strategy in developing its instagram account. At the manage stage, to carry out media monitoring KOPHI community uses Insight Instagram Analytics. At the engage stage, it is known that KOPHI Instagram followers do not always actively follow KOPHI Instagram developments and rarely respond to KOPHI Instagram posts. AbstrakPenelitian ini adalah penelitian dasar (basic research) yang mencoba untuk mengkaji metode penciptaan karya seni murni bentuk representasional, simbolik dan abstrak. Kajian dilakukan terhadap beberapa seniman lukis, grafis dan patung di empat kota dalam wilayah Sumatera Barat, Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data utama dilakukan melalui observasi dan wawancara dengan sumber primer, yaitu seniman. Sedangkan data tidak langsung dikumpulkan melalui jurnal, buku, video foto, katalog pameran, karya-karya seniman, dan dokumen-dokumen terkait. Teknik analisis data dilakukan sebelum di lapangan dan di lapangan. Temuan penelitian ini adalah berupa metode yang spesifik, lebih operasional dan teknis tentang penciptaan karya seni murni bentuk representasional, simbolik dan abstrak.  Kata Kunci: Metode, Representasional, Simbolik, Abstrak.AbstractThis research is a basic research which tries to examine the method of creating pure works of representational, symbolic and abstract forms. The study was carried out on several painters, engravers and sculptors in four cities in the West Sumatra region of Indonesia. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The main data collection techniques are carried out through observation and interviews with primary sources, namely artists. While indirect data is collected through journals, books, videos, photos, exhibition catalogs, works of artists, and related documents. Data analysis techniques were carried out before on the field and in the field. The findings of this study are in the form of specific, more operational and technical methods about the creation of pure works of representational, symbolic and abstract forms. The purpose of this research is to describe the illocutionary acts on one of Gita Savitri Devi’s Youtube Channel video entitled Kenapa kita membenci? Beropini eps. 46. The method use in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data in this research are illocutionary acts spoken by Gita Savitri Devi in one of her Youtube Channel videos. The data source in this research is the narration delivered by Gita Savitri Devi in that video. The data collection techniques using hearken technique. Data analysis techniques in this research were carried out through the steps : (1) Data transcription, (2) Data classification, and (3) Data inference. The results obtained by the type of assertive illocutionary acts, directive illocutionary acts, and expresive illocutionary acts. While the types of commissive illocutionary acts and declaration illocutionary acts were not found in this research.

This undergraduate thesis entitled Women’s Language Used by Female Characters in The Movie How To Be Single. It is aimed at identifying the language features applied by female characters and finding out the functions of each type of women’s linguistic features. This paper used the theory of women’s linguistic features proposed by Robin Lakoff (1975). The data source in this study is the movie How To Be Single.  The collected data were identified and selected, then the features of women’s language used by the female characters in the movie How To Be Single were analyzed  based on Lakoff (1975). The method applied in collecting data was the documentation method. Afterwards, the method of analyzing data in this study was the descriptive qualitative method. This study applied informal method in presenting the data analysis. The findings of the analysis showed that there were nine kinds of women’s linguistic features found in the movie How To Be Single. There were also some functions of women’s linguistic features found in the data. The functions of each type of the features are closely related to the context in which it is used. Each type of women’s linguistic features found in the movie displays has different functions and reasons.

This article discusses how the strategy for forming a brand image is carried out by the moeng coffee shop, through instagram social media. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The results of this study show good results in the formation of Brand Image by applying brand elements and brand image strategy in the Moeng kopi coffee shop. this really helped increase the crowd and the growing recognition of the Moeng coffee shop by a wide audience. The successful establishment of the Brand Image of the Moeng coffee shop is seen from the response of the Customer which showed good results for the Brand Image of the Moeng coffee shop in Surabaya.
