Computational phylogenetics is in the process of revolutionizing historical linguistics. Recent applications have shed new light on controversial issues, such as the location and time depth of language families and the dynamics of their spread. So far, these approaches have been limited to single-language families because they rely on a large body of expert cognacy judgments or grammatical classifications, which is currently unavailable for most language families. The present study pursues a different approach. Starting from raw phonetic transcription of core vocabulary items from very diverse languages, it applies weighted string alignment to track both phonetic and lexical change. Applied to a collection of ∼1,000 Eurasian languages and dialects, this method, combined with phylogenetic inference, leads to a classification in excellent agreement with established findings of historical linguistics. Furthermore, it provides strong statistical support for several putative macrofamilies contested in current historical linguistics. In particular, there is a solid signal for the Nostratic/Eurasiatic macrofamily.

The heritage corpuses’ introductions have a great importance, since their authors consider them as media for showing their trends and ideas and their sides of creativity, which are the knowledge certainties setting their method of writing with several characteristics including their objective and subjective content’s styles and the formal methodological scientific disciplines. If we come back to the Soulaiman Elboustani’s translation of Homer’s Iliad’s introduction, we find that it’s a stand-alone writing, which consists of 197 pages, in which the author addresses the criticism principles and the poetic recognising rules with deep analysis, definite accuracy, great knowledge, and addressing several topics of a great importance, after identifying the epics gender and determining whether it’s known for the Arab people or not, identifying the Homeric epic and commending it, as well as confirming its affiliation to Homer. In this research, We’ve addressed the issue of the senses’ phonetic transcription through what’s tackled by Elboustani in reviewing detailly the relationship between the line breaks, the objectives, and meanings. It was the issue addressed by numerous Arab and western researchers since antiquity.

The speech of a five-year-old boy who suffered a profound hearing loss following meningitis was sampled at two-week intervals for nine months. Speech samples were subjected to phonetic transcription, spectrographic analysis, and intelligibility testing. Immediately post-trauma, the child displayed slightly slower, F o elevated, acoustically intense speech in which phonemic distortion and syllabification of consonants occurred occasionally; single word intelligibility was depressed below normal between 20–30%. By the 18th week, a sudden decline in intelligibility, increasing monotony of pitch, and a pattern of strongly emphatic, prolonged, aspirated, syllabified, and increasingly distorted consonants were manifest. At year's end, the child's speech bore some resemblance to the speech of the deaf in terms of suprasegmentals, intonation, and intelligibility, but differed because the child rarely, if ever deleted speech sounds or diphthongized vowels strongly. It is speculated that phonetic processes such as diphthongization, syllabification, and prolonged duration may be strategies for enhancing feedback during speech.
