Objective: Health behaviors are seen as one possible pathway linking race to health outcomes. Social integration has also been consistently linked to important health outcomes but has not been examined as a mechanism accounting for racial differences in health behaviors among older U.S. adults. Method: We use data from the American’s Changing Lives (ACL) Study to explore racial differences in measures of social integration and whether they help account for racial differences in several dietary behaviors and alcohol use. Results: We find differences by race and social integration measures in dietary behaviors and alcohol use. Net of socioeconomic status, health status, and reported discrimination, variation in social integration helps to account for racial differences in some health behaviors. Discussion: Our results highlight the nuanced role of social integration in understanding group differences in health behaviors. Interventions should consider such complexities when including aspects of social integration in their design.

Language is a means of communication between community members in the form of sound symbols produced by human speech tools. Speech is a form of spoken language activity. Therefore, giving a speech requires and emphasizes the expression of ideas and reasoning using spoken language which is supported by non-language aspects, such as facial expressions, eye contact, and voice intonation. In connection with this definition, there are four functions of the Indonesian language, namely (1) to express self-expression, (2) as a means of communication, (3) as a tool for social integration and adaptation, and (4) as a tool for exercising social control. . Matters that need to be nurtured and developed in the guidance and development of the Indonesian language include pronunciation, spelling, writing, vocabulary / terms, and grammar. These four things are the most important material in language coaching and development, so that language users are able to use good and correct language. Keywords: Skill, Writing, Speech

Although the suicide rate among U.S. youth between the ages of 10 to 24 dramatically increased during the past 50 years, little research has examined this outcome within larger social contexts of the adolescent environment. Relying on Durkheim's theory of social integration, we examine the effect of individual- and structural-level social integration on adolescents' suicidality. Using a sample of 6,369 respondents within 314 neighborhoods, we examine the assumptions that high levels of religious, familial, neighborhood, and school integration are associated with fewer suicide attempts among youths. We find support for the traditional Durkheimian assumptions; specifically, the proportion of religiously conservative residents in a neighborhood reduces youths' risk of attempting suicide, as do individual-level controls of school and parental attachment. Moreover, we find evidence for a cross-level interaction between depression and neighborhood level of religiosity. Depression increases youths' risk of attempting suicide, but in places where religion is very important, this positive effect of depression is diminished.

The society affords to judge and assess the behavior of its members, according to the degree of conformity of the respective behavior to the accepted and unanimously recognized norms and values. By utilizing the social control and adaptation as ‘persuasive’ tools for the existing community, the society affords to transfer its members the normative and cultural model promoted by it. Subsequent to this ‘lesson’ where people learn the social roles which must be fulfilled, the long awaited reward is received – social integration. Each individual has the possibility to absorb knowledge, habits and rules and then apply them as an active member of the society. One of the main functions of the society is generating, maintaining and passing from generation to generation the values which define the specific of the society, its structural matrix. This function can be found at the level of the groups and social organizations. Such function is fulfilled through a fundamental social process, namely socialization.

It is common for romantic partners to influence one another’s health maintenance behaviors. Previous research has examined positively and negatively framed social control messages to understand health behavior outcomes and relational affect; however, this study confirms and extends previous research by studying the associations between health transformations (from interdependence theory, health behaviors enacted for the partner) and relationship satisfaction. Data from a cross-sectional dyadic survey of heterosexual couples were analyzed using actor–partner independence models. As expected, dyadic results showed that positive social control was associated with greater healthy and fewer unhealthy partner transformations, whereas negative social control was associated with lower relationship satisfaction and more unhealthy transformations. Further, the breadth of partner health behaviors that individuals attempt to influence moderated the associations between social control and relationship satisfaction and health transformations. We discuss how the results from this study underscore the health implications associated with the nature and breadth of social control communication in romantic relationships.
