Inexpensive microcontrollers allow complex control methodologies for improving well-established technologies such as resistive lighting. In this paper, we present two constructions of a microprocessor controlled power regulator for resistive load of up to 2.5 kW and exemplify its use for the lamps in Tesla?s Fountain reconstruction project. These are universal power controllers and could be applied to a wide verity of non-inductive loads, but our primary intention was to construct a miniature light regulator with touch sensor for Tesla?s Fountain. The devices operate using the phase control of the power grid?s alternating current and controlled fade-in to increase lamp longevity. Extensive testing shows the device to operate successfully for 2400 hours of continuous error-free operation, to robustly handle high cycling stresses and increase bulb lifetimes by approximately a factor of 7-8. The microcontroller software can easily be adapted for controlling many non-inductive apparatus, like light bulbs or halogen lamps, as well as resistive heating. We also used advanced technologies from other multi-disciplinary areas to complete project.

In distribution networks with distributed power supplies, distributed power supplies can also be used as backup power sources to support the grid. If a distribution network contains multiple distributed power sources, the distribution network becomes a complex power grid with multiple power supplies. When a short-circuit fault occurs at a certain point on the power distribution network, the size, direction and duration of the short-circuit current are no longer single due to the existence of distributed power, and will vary with the location and capacity of the distributed power supply system. The change, in turn, affects the current in the grid, resulting in the generation and propagation of additional current. This power grid of power electronics will cause problems such as excessive standard mis-operation, abnormal heating of the converter and component burnout, and communication system failure. It is of great and practical significance to study the influence of distributed power in distributed power distribution networks.

With the continuous development of power electronic technology, the advantages of thyristor power regulator circuit gradually get more and more applications. It improves the quality of power supply, makes the equipment efficiency and power factor higher and so saves a lot of electricity. Through the calculation of the primary current when thyristor turns off in three-phase power regulator circuit with transformer load, the impact of the thyristors turn-off order on the transformer primary current voltage-second product is analysised, and through simulation the exactness is verified.

When developing a high-speed contact suspension for railways electrified with alternating current, it is important to ensure that the electric rolling stock passes the neutral insert without turning off the current and without reducing the speed of movement. The article provides an analysis of previously developed devices in the field of power supply of electrified railways of single-phase alternating current, in which an attempt was made to pass an electric rolling stock of a neutral insert without disconnecting the load. The device of isolating coupling of a catenary and a neutral insert for high-speed railway lines electrified on alternating current is described. In this case, the passage of the neutral insert is carried out under current and braking of the electric rolling stock will not occur. Among other things, to improve the efficiency of high-speed contact suspension for railways electrified with alternating current, it is proposed to use new materials and new technologies that can be used in the device of insulating coupling of the catenary

With the rapid growth of hydropower in Sichuan, power structure becomes a primary issue of development of power grid. In this paper, the understandings of the connotation of coordinated development are proposed that it is of importance to rely on power exchanging using power grid platform to supplement provincial power and load characteristic. Main research contents are summed up from nine areas from the aspects of inside and outside province. And some difficulties needed to pay attention are also explained.

In this paper a low voltage FGMOS analog multiplier is proposed that uses a follower voltage flipped (FVF), which dominates its operation. In order to reduce the power supply of the multiplier, floating gate CMOS transistors (FGMOS) are used. Theoretical steps of the FVF design are presented together with its simulation. The output of the FVF is insensitive to the device parameters and is loaded with a resistive load. The multiplier design consists of two FVF cells, two current sensors FVF and one Gilbert cell multiplier. The results show that the proposed multiplied in a 0.13μm CMOS process exhibits significant benefits in terms of linearity, insensibility to device parameters, bandwidth and output impedance. The power supply is 0.8V and a power consumption of 181μW.
