To Routinize or Not to Routinize? Employee Task Routinization, Situational Motivation, and Creativity

We addressed previous mixed findings regarding the effects of task routinization on employee creativity. We proposed that task routinization is not a single dimensional construct but that it has 2 dimensions, namely, content and process, which have different motivation and performance implications. Participants were 240 employees from various industries in South Korea. Results of structural equation modeling analyses confirmed that task content routinization had a negative effect on employee creativity by causing amotivation and reducing intrinsic motivation. By contrast, task process routinization enhanced employee creativity by increasing intrinsic motivation. Our findings clarify the effects of task routinization on employee creativity by identifying the 2 dimensions that lead to different situational motivation and creativity results, and we discuss the implications of these findings.

This is evidenced of the value of the terstandar regression (beta) leadership motivation to obtain value of 0,11, to obtain personality motivation value of 0,32, my motivation to obtain value of -0,19 and education motivation to obtain value of 0,23 and more tender testing obtained value p-value very small (< 0,001). There are relations between leadership, personality, age and education of the performance of employees in city bina marga areas tegal. This is evidenced of the value of the regression coefficient terstandar (beta) leadership of the performance of have value of 0,06, personality of the performance of have value of 0,48, age of the performance of get value 0.01 and education on performance have value of 0.09 and from the testing obtained value pvalue very small (< 0,001). the incentives on performance in city bina marga areas tegal. This study investigated the relationships among managerial leadership, transformational leadership, and performance of school administrators of Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (NIPSC) through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Covariance-Based SEM (CB-SEM), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) with its default Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) were used to test the hypothesized model that managerial leadership covary transformational leadership which were both related to the school administrators’ performance. Results revealed that of the eight alternative models, two equivalent models, one model generates every probability distribution that can be generated by another model, Model B3 and Model D3 were generated, got the smallest Alkaike Information Criterion (AIC) and Bayes Information Criterion (BIC) indicating that both models had relatively better fit. Model B3 and Model D3 have the same degrees of freedom but feature a different configuration of paths among the same variables. However, of the two equivalent models, model B3 was rejected due to discriminant validity concerns while model D3 passed both measurement model and structural model, model D3 was confirmed and retained. As contribution to the fields of education, management and leadership, the researcher confirmed and recommends, through CB-SEM using CFA with its default MLE, the Managerial Leadership and Performance as fully mediated by Transformational Leadership Model.

Leader humor plays an important role in organizations because it affects employees' attitude and behavior. The positive effect of humor in organizations has been widely touted; however, research on the effect of leader humor on employee creativity is still rare. This study addressed how leader positive humor affects employee creativity and whether work engagement mediates this relationship. Data were collected from 233 supervisor–subordinate dyads in 23 Chinese hightech companies. Results of structural equation modeling indicate that leader positive humor was positively related to work engagement, and that work engagement was positively related to employee creativity. Additionally, work engagement mediated the relationship between leader positive humor and employee creativity. Thus, organizations should encourage managers to use positive humor to enhance employees' engagement at work, which will, in turn, lead to creative outcomes. This research extends understanding of the leader positive humor–employee creativity relationship.

The main objective of this study was to clarify the mechanisms through which leader mindfulness enhances employee creativity, and we proposed that leader–member exchange (LMX) would act as a mediator of this relationship. To test our hypotheses we conducted a survey with 329 subordinates and 51 supervisors employed at three large manufacturing companies in China. The results of structural equation modeling show that the association of leader mindfulness with employee creativity was positive, and that LMX partially mediated this link. This study provides useful insights in explaining the impact that leader mindfulness has on employee creativity by focusing on LMX as a mediator. Our findings indicate that organizations should take leader mindfulness into account, and that managerial interventions should be implemented to establish high-quality LMX relationship.
