The objective of this study was to examine the effect of planting distance of paddy var. Rojolele planted in conventional legowo system and dosage of gamma rays irradiated on nitrogen uptake and productivity of paddy. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with twelve treatments and three replications. The first factor was gamma ray radiation, consisted of three levels, namely control seed (B0), seed irradiated with gamma rays of 200 gray (B2), and seed irradiated with gamma ray of 300 gray (B3). The second factor was planting distance, consisted of four levels, namely distance of 25 x 25 (J1), distance of 30 x 30 (J2), legowo system of 2 : 1 (J3), and legowo system of 4 : 1 (J4 ). The results showed that jajar legowo system with planting distance of 2 : 1 significantly affected the nutrient content of nitrogen in shoot, nitrogen uptake of plant, and yield  per hectare. Paddy var. Rojolele irradiated by 300 gray produced higher nitrogen content in shoot, nitrogen uptake of plant, and yield per hectare than those in control seeds and seeds irradiated with 200 gray. There was a tendency that planting distance with jajar legowo system resulted in higher grain (yield), on the contrary, the narrow row spacing impacted on lower grain (yield).

A field experiment was conducted to study the different levels of Nitrogen and Phosphorus on nutrient content and uptake of Palmarosa under rainfed conditions on vertisols at Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola during 2007-2008. The experiment was laid in factorial randomized block design with three replications. There were four levels of nitrogen viz., 0 k g (N0), 40 kg (N1), 60 kg (N2), 80 kg (N3) and three levels of phosphorus 0 kg (P0), 20 kg (P1), 40 kg (P2) ha-1. The results revealed that the nitrogen content (0.85%), phosphorus content(0.69%) and potassium content (0.56%) in the crop was highest when treated with 80 kg (N3) ha-1 and the nitrogen content (0.74%), phosphorus content (0.60%) and potassium content (0.48%) was also more with the application of 40 kg (P2) ha-1. Similarly the crop uptake was recorded highest with application of 80 kg N ha-1 where the nitrogen uptake was (30.50 kg ha-1), phosphorus uptake (14.36 kg ha-1 ) and potassium uptake (13.25 kg ha-1), while the nitrogen uptake (22.12 kg ha-1), phosphorus uptake (11.90 kg ha-1) and potassium uptake (10.12 kg ha-1) was also more when treated with 40 kg (P2) ha.-1

To evaluate the effect of planting distance on yield and agro-morphological characteristics of Bara variety (local variety of rice), a field experiment was carried out at the experimental station of the Agricultural Faculty of Kunduz University in 2016. Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with four replications was used in the experiment. Transplanting distances with four levels viz. 10x10 cm, 15x15 cm, 20x20 cm, and 25 x 25 cm were used as treatment. Results showed that planting distance had significant effects on tillers number, leaf color, non-filled grain, total grain, and 1000 grains weight. In contrary, no significant effects on plant height, panicle length, number of filled grain per panicle and grain yield were observed between spacing. The spacing of 25 x 25 cm had produced the highest performance for most of the agro-morphological traits evaluated. Grain yield was found similar in all spacing but other yield components like total number of tillers (16.63) and total grain per panicle (119.43) were found statistically superior in 25 x 25 cm planting distance. Overall, the results of this study revealed that the planting distance of 25 x 25 cm seemed to be the best as requires lower seed and fertilizer (lower cost) and can, therefore, be suggested to the farmers for a better valorization of Bara variety in northeastern Afghanistan. Similar investigations are strongly recommended in other agro-ecological zones of the country where Bara variety is largely grown to confirm these findings.

To evaluate the effect of Zinc fertilizer on performance of wheat cv. BARI gom30, an experiment was carried out at Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, from November 2015 to March 2016. The experiment comprised four levels of Zinc (Zn) viz., 0, 1.5, 2 and 2.5 kg/ha. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Application of Zinc (Zn) plant height, number of total tillers/plant, number of effective tillers/plant, spike length, number of fertile spikelets/spike numbers of sterile spikelets/spike number of grains/ spike, grain yield and straw yield were found significant. But there was no significant effect of the treatment on 1000-grain weight. The highest number of total tiller/plant (4.42), number of effective tillers/plant (3.92), number of grains/spike (47.70), 1000-grain weight (47.73 g), grain yield (5.06 t/ha), straw yield (6.21 t/ha) was obtained from 2 kg Zn/ha. The highest plant height (94.08 cm), spike length (9.92 cm), number of fertile spikelets/spike (19.59) and sterile spikelets/spike (3.22) and harvest index (46.16%) were recorded at 0 kg Zn/ha respectively. The control treatment indicated the lowest value for the yield attributing characters except the number of sterile spikelets/spike. Grain yield was found to be significantly and positively correlated with number of grains/spike and straw yield. It is recommended that application of 2 kg Zn/ha is the best for maximum yield of BARI gom30.

Background and Objective. Maize is one of the oldest cultivated crops. It is the third most important cereal after wheat and rice globally. Compared to all other cereals, maize has the highest average yield per unit area. The objective of the research was to evaluate maize varietal response to different nitrogen fertilizer rates. Materials and Methods. The treatment consisted of two factors, namely six varieties of maize and four levels of nitrogen application rates. These were arranged in 6 × 4 factorial combinations and laid out using randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The data collected were subjected to combined analysis for variation in factorial experiments in RCBD using Genstat statistical package edition 18. The means were separated using Duncan’s multiple range test at a 5% probability level. Results. The study revealed that varieties, such as IWD-C3-SYN-F2 and OBATAMPA, produced the highest grain yield and growth parameters (agronomic traits) relative to other varieties. The maximum grain yield and biomass production also occurred at the nitrogen application rates of 90 and 120 kg N/ha. Conclusion. Varieties, such as IWD-C3-SYN-F2 and OBATAMPA, and N rate of 90 kg N/ha are, therefore, recommended to be used for maize production by the resource-poor farmers in the Guinea Savanna Agro-Ecology of Ghana.

A field experiment to study the “Comparative efficiency of organics and biofertilizers on growth and yield of maize (Zea mays L.)” was conducted during Kharif 2011 at farmer field in Beluguli village, Chikkanayakanahalli taluk (Tumkur district). The maize cultivar Nithyashree (NAH 2049) was used in the study. The field experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with fourteen treatments and three replications. Results of the treatment (T13) having recommended dose of NPK + Azotobacter chroococcum + Bacillus megaterium + Pseudomonas fluorescence + enriched compost has showed highest plant height at 30, 60, 90 days after sowing and at harvest (120 days) (31.70, 180.93, 186.07 and 188.13 cm respectively). The highest total dry matter production at harvest (375.80 g) and yield parameters like Weight of cob (207.63 g), Grain yield per plant (158.93 g), Grain yield per ha (54.53 q) and Test weight of seeds (33.10 g) was also found highest in this treatment and available nutrient content in soil after crop harvest i.e., nitrogen (185.40 Kg ha-1), phosphorous (38.83 Kg ha-1) and potassium (181.47 Kg ha-1) was also found highest in the same treatment combination.

The effect of lime and fertilizer application, as the management of soil acidity, on the growth and yield of rice cv. BRRI dhan50 was investigated during Aman rice season at the Agronomy Field Laboratory of Sylhet Agricultural University, Bangladesh. The experiment was consisted of two factors namely lime and fertilizer. There were four levels of lime (0, 0.50, 1.00, and 1.50 t ha–1 of CaCO3.MgCO3) and three levels of fertilizers (control, FYM @ 10 t ha–1, and chemical fertilizer @ 100-30-42-4-3-0.4 kg ha–1 of N-P-K-Ca-S-Zn). The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications where the unit plot size was 4.0 m x 2.5 m. Growth parameters, yield components and yield of BRRIdhan 50 rice increased with increasing lime rate in association of fertilizer in acidic soil. The highest grain yield (2.90 t ha–1) was recorded from the application of 1.50 t ha–1 lime and the lowest (2.06 t ha–1) was from control (0t ha–1), irrespective of fertilizer. On the other hand, the best effect of fertilizers on grain yield (3.08 t ha–1) was found with the application of FYM @ 10 t ha–1 and the lowest yield (1.59 t ha–1) was in control. The treatment combination of lime 1.50 t ha–1 and FYM (@ 10 t ha–1 produced the highest grain yield (3.60 t ha–1), which was followed by treatment combination of lime 1.50 t ha–1 and chemical fertilizer @ 100-30-42-4-3-0.4 kg ha–1 of N-P-K-Ca-S-Zn (3.28 t ha–1). Additionally, application of lime and FYM improved the soil fertility and properties of acidic soil for crop production by increasing the pH, organic matter and availability of some essential nutrients. Background: Phosphorus (P) and zinc (Zn) are essential plant nutrients and their deficiency in soils has the adverse effect on the crop productivity, moreover the antagonistic effect of P on Zn is also important study aspect. Hence, the present investigation was carried out to study the effect of phospho enriched compost and zinc on productivity, nutrient content and uptake of Blackgram (Vigna mungo L.) in Sub-humid Southern Hills and Aravalli region of Rajasthan. Methods: The experiment was undertaken during Kharif 2018 at Rajasthan College of agriculture, Udaipur (Rajasthan). The treatments comprised of four levels of phospho enriched compost (PEC) i.e. control, PEC @ 2.0, 4.0 and 6.0 t ha-1 and four levels of zinc i.e. control, Zn @ 2.0, 4.0 and 6.0 kg ha-1. The experiment was laid out in a factorial randomized block design with three replications.Result: The increasing levels of phospho enriched compost and zinc upto 4 t ha-1 and 4 kg ha-1, respectively increased significantly (P=0.05) the number of nodules per plant, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, test weight, seed yield, stover yield, nutrient content (N, K and Zn) and uptake (N, P, K and Zn) in seed and stover of blackgram. Whereas, the application of zinc significantly decreased the phosphorus content in seed and stover as compared to control. However, the combined application of phospho enriched compost @ 6 t ha-1 along with zinc @ 6 kg ha-1 was found to record higher seed and stover yield. The application of phospho enriched compost @ 4 t ha-1 and zinc @ 4 kg ha-1 along with the recommended dose of fertilizer results in significantly higher productivity, nutrient content and uptake of blackgram under Typic Haplustepts soil.

Background: The urd bean variety MDU 1 has a duration of 70-75 days, bushy in nature and is susceptible to yellow mosaic virus. In order to develop a determinate type and improved batter quality, MDU 1 and VBN (Bg) 4 blackgram seeds were treated with different doses (100 Gy, 200 Gy, 300 Gy, 400 Gy and 500 Gy) of gamma rays. Methods: Uniform sized seeds treated with different mutagenic doses were raised in randomised block design which constitute M1 generation. Each plant was harvested individually and forwarded to M2 generation following plant to progeny row method. The determinate types were selected from M2 generation and forwarded to further generations. After attaining homozygosity in the advanced generation, the mutants were checked for its biochemical characters (Total solubule protein content analysed by kjeldahl method, albumin and globulin analysed by Lowery’s method, arabinose content analysed by Bial method. Result: The mutants ACM - 16 -011, ACM - 16 -015, ACM - 16 -018 were found to have an arabinose content of 8.28%, 8.98% and 8.14% respectively. All these mutants recorded more batter volume over the variety MDU 1. The albumin (%) and globulin (%) contents were also found at remarkably increased levels in the mutants. These mutants have the potential to develop a high quality variety of urd bean and therefore are very useful in breeding programme.

Dried noodles are fresh noodles to instantly drained its water levels reached up to 8-10%. The presence of the excess, so that the noodles started to preferred even become culture an alternative food substitute for rice. Raw materials of making noodles in general is flour made from wheat that must be imported. Substitution and fortification partial with other materials is one form of innovation as an effort reduce dependence of flour such as oyster mushrooms and spinach flour. The purpose of this research was to determine the acceptability and nutrient content of dried noodles subsititution of oyster mushroom flour with fortification of spinach flour. Randomized Block Design (RBD) was used in this experiment with four levels of treatment with a mixture of fortification flour formula, namely: F1 (5%), F2 (10%), F3 (15%), F5 (20%) that added in dried oyster mushrooms noodles (70:30)%. The acceptability rated from organoleptic conducted on semi trained panelists were as many as 30 students and the levels of nutrient content from the results of the laboratory test used the proximate and spectrophotometry. Based on organoleptic and results weighting values, the formula 5 had received higher panelists from other formula with a score of 59.9. Laboratory result showed protein 18.03 g, fat 8.01 g, 6.60 g water, ash 6.56 g, fiber 34.90 g, carbohydrates 19.25 g, and 015 mg of iron. The effects of palm bunch ash (PBA) and mineral fertilizer application on grain yield and nutrient uptake in maize and soil chemical properties were studied in both the major and minor rainy seasons in the semi-deciduous forest agro-ecological zone of Ghana. In both the major and minor rainy seasons, the response of maize to four levels (0, 2, 4, and 6 tons per hectare) of palm bunch ash and 200 kg per hectare of NPK (15-15-15) application was evaluated using randomised complete block design. Results of the study showed that application of palm bunch ash significantly (P<0.05) increased soil pH, soil phosphorus, and exchangeable cations. Maize grain yield varied significantly (P<0.05) among the different treatments in both the major and minor rainy seasons. The highest maize grain yield of 4530 and 6120 kg ha-1was obtained at PBA application rate of 2 tonsha-1for the major and minor rainy seasons, respectively.
