Strip helix antennas offer better performance at wide bandwidth and more compact in size than conventional helix antennas. However, strip helix antennas have a relatively low gain compared to conventional helix antennas. In this paper, a strip helix antenna with 2.4 GHz frequency was designed, simulated, fabricated, and measured. This strip helix antenna was added with several parasitic rings, and its ground plane size was reduced to increase the gain value and its performance. The best simulation results according to the desired parameters were with return loss < -10 dB of -10.366 dB, VSWR < 2 of 1.8702, and directional radiation pattern of 66.5° beamwidth angle. However, the gain did not match with the desired parameters > 12 dB with the result of 8.9612 dB. Measured results showed that the helix strip antenna has a return loss of -10.37 dB and VSWR of 1.870. The parasitic rings addition can increase the strip helix antenna gain of 0.0201 dB and improves performances of return loss, VSWR, and bandwidth. Despite that, the ground plane size reduction actually decreases the gain value.

A square slot antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) is presented in this paper. The design consist of two pairs of “F” shaped planar strips placed within a square slotted ground. The strips are used to excite multiple resonant frequencies, the strips are connected to the ground plane by means of ideal switches. The proposed antenna has achieved multiple resonant frequencies of 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz for WLAN and 3.5/5.5 for WiMAX applications. The measured results shows a good agreement with the simulated results in terms of return loss, radiation pattern and gain. The proposed antenna is designed for the frequency range of 2 GHz to 7 GHz which makes it suitable for Bluetooth, WLAN and WiMAX applications.

In this paper, Microstrip patch antennas with rectangular and swastika shape of patch are designed and its performance parameters are compared with each other. Rectangular and Swastika shaped patch are considered in this paper with common rectangular ground plane. The antenna is simulated at 2.4 GHz using HFSS simulation software. This work mainly includes modification of antenna patch to improve the antenna parameters. The parameters of antenna such as Return loss, VSWR Bandwidth and radiation pattern are compared using simulation. The performance of Swastika shaped antenna was found to be better than rectangular shaped microstrip patch antenna with improved Return Loss, VSWR, Bandwidth and Radiation Pattern.

This paper presents the fabrication of an octagonal fractal hybrid micro strip radiator patch antenna that operates over a frequency range of 1.5 GHz to 2GHz suitable for low frequency wireless and mobile applications. The radiator has a dimension of 85x85mm2 on the radiating side and 100x86mm2 ground plane. The model is fabricated on Fire Redundant4 substrate with thickness of 1.6mm over a 10x10mm2 dimension and uses coaxial feeding technique. The model is tested for its performance in the range of 1.5 to 2 GHz on the radiator test bench consists of MIC10 antenna trainer kit with an allowable frequency of up to 2GHz. The radiation characteristics shown are having good return loss and average gain of 39dB with omni directional radiation pattern. The size is to be optimized as the dimensions are very large compared to the usual requirements.

In this chapter, ultra wide band angular ring antenna has been proposed for wireless applications. It has been observed that antenna resonate from 2.9 to 13.1 GHz which has 10.2 GHz bandwidth. Further, it is observed that antenna has nearly omni-directional radiation pattern for E and H-plane at 3.5, 5.8, and 8.5 GHz. The theoretical analysis of the proposed has been done using circuit theory analysis. It was also found using simulation that antenna has good input and output response of 0.2 ns. Proposed antenna measured, simulated, and theoretical results matches for antenna characteristics, i.e., reflection coefficient and radiation pattern. Bandwidth of antenna lies between 2.9 and 13.1 GHz, so this antenna is suitable for Wi-Fi, Wi-Max, digital communication system (DCS), satellite communication, and 5G applications.

This paper proposes a novel small asymmetric coplanar strip (ACS) fed tri-band monopole antenna for WLAN and WiMAX applications. To tune and create multiple resonant frequencies, the exciting strip of monopole antenna is connected to two different arms which are a J-shaped directed toward the asymmetric ground plane and an open stub. The proposed monopole antenna with a total size of 14.6 x17.5 mm2 is fabricated and tested. The measured results indicate that the antenna has impedance bandwidths for 10-dB return loss reach about 500 MHz (2.01-2.52 GHz), 230 MHz (3.48-3.71 GHz) and 1.2GHz (5.59-6.72 GHz) which cover widely the 2.4/5.8 GHz WLAN bands and the 3.5GHz WiMAX band. The simulated radiation patterns of the proposed antenna at the three resonant frequencies have a dipole-like radiation pattern in both E-and H-Planes. The compact size, the simple structure and good radiation performances of the proposed antenna makes it well-suited forthe intended applications.

The most current high-end technology, which can solve the problem is 5G. One of the frequency that becomes the candidate of 5G is 28 GHz. For 5G, it could apply one of the antenna types, micro strip antenna. However, micro strip antenna has a shortage of narrow bandwidth and small gain. Therefore, it requires a technique to increase the bandwidth and gain of the antenna. In this study, the form of micro strip of antenna design is a rectangular patch with the addition of U-Slot and arranged 1x2 to increase the bandwidth and antenna gain. The results of the simulation show that the antenna is working well at the range frequency of 27.5 GHz - 29.12 GHz, with a return loss limit of -15 dB with bandwidth of 1.62 GHz, the resulting gain value is 7.52 dB, the resulting radiation pattern is unidirectional and linearly polarized. Keywords: 5G, 28 GHz, microstrip, rectangular patch, array, U-Slot

In this paper, a new ultrahigh frequency circularly polarized microstrip antenna using in RFID reader is proposed. The proposed antenna has a simple structure, it has non-symmetrical rectangular corner truncated square patch, ground plane and a probe feed. To achieve good circular polarization(CP) radiation characteristics, it uses air as the dielectric layer. Simulation results of a constructed prototype with the center operating frequency at 923 MHz showed that the antenna has a return loss S11 of about −24 dB, a gain level of about 9.48 dBi. The antenna has good impedance and radiation characteristics over the required bandwidth, 920-925 MHz (Chinese UHF RFID band).

An Ultrawideband (UWB) octagonal ring-shaped parasitic resonator-based patch antenna for microwave imaging applications is presented in this study, which is constructed with a diamond-shaped radiating patch, three octagonal, rectangular slotted ring-shaped parasitic resonator elements, and partial slotting ground plane. The main goals of uses of parasitic ring-shaped elements are improving antenna performance. In the prototype, various kinds of slots on the ground plane were investigated, and especially rectangular slots and irregular zigzag slots are applied to enhance bandwidth, gain, efficiency, and radiation directivity. The optimized size of the antenna is 29 × 24 × 1.5 mm3 by using the FR-4 substrate. The overall results illustrate that the antenna has a bandwidth of 8.7 GHz (2.80–11.50 GHz) for the reflection coefficient S11 < −10 dB with directional radiation pattern. The maximum gain of the proposed prototype is more than 5.7 dBi, and the average efficiency over the radiating bandwidth is 75%. Different design modifications are performed to attain the most favorable outcome of the proposed antenna. However, the prototype of the proposed antenna is designed and simulated in the 3D simulator CST Microwave Studio 2018 and then effectively fabricated and measured. The investigation throughout the study of the numerical as well as experimental data explicit that the proposed antenna is appropriate for the Ultrawideband-based microwave-imaging fields.
