This article examines the perceptions of community, community-based organizations, and their attributed influence on health and behavior. This case study is based on data from sixty survey questionnaires and forty-three in-depth interviews conducted with Vietnamese community residents, including a group of health workers. Some participants attributed the same supportive role and function to the community as a social unit (“cong dong”) and the community-based organizations (“co quan cong dong”). Health was considered by far the most important component when compared to family, finance, and community. While the influence of the community on their own personal health was perceived as limited, significant influence was attributed to community expectations in personal behaviors. Findings are examined within the context of an evolving process of adaptation to a new environment, the role of culture as a barrier or facilitator for health promotion, and the limitations of the study.

As the lack of consciousness for the importance of universal environment without any physical border, gender, and age for every society leads to a minimum policy to support universal design concept to be applied in public facilities building plan. This is also happened in most of mosques building in Indonesia, where it is not easily accessible to all jammaat including the children, adults, the elders, and the diffabled. The circulation on a mosque should not give barriers to people who wanted to do worship activities, especially the diffabled. A universal design mosque concept is one of the most important to be concerned and applied so the building will be accessible to all Muslims. This research aims to know how far is the universal design concept affect the independence of the disabled. The study was done at UIN Sunan Kalijaga mosque and UGM Campus Mosque in Yogyakarta. The researcher did a field observation to the research objects to see how far is the universal design concept is applied. The research method done is quantitative method with independency scale of measure for the disabled’s within the building. The data was analyzed by the comparison of two independent sample using t-test statistics analysis method. The end result in this research stated that the disable’s perception on independency level raise positively towards the universal design concept applied in the mosque‘s design planning.

Libraries often intimidate new or potential users through their size, complexity as well as unfamiliar tools and technology. Observing library users coping with the environment and perceiving their behavior, assists in planning and designing an ideal guidance system. The present article is based on an observation of university library users in Mumbai. The study provides narratives of variety of tasks completed by participants with average task completion time ATCT) and further explores users’ facial expressions and behavior and conducted cause analysis. Findings revealed that majority of participants in university libraries felt that wayfinding is complex and not self-oriented even after attending library orientation, due to the complexity of library buildings and lack of appropriate signage. The analysis of ATCT highlighted that maximum users of the university libraries in Mumbai require inordinate time to find their way and locate the required information source. Many participants experienced confusion, disorientation, indecisiveness and anxiousness while navigating and searching for information sources in libraries. It further revealed that major reasons behind prolonged time required in task completion were user specific such as user unawareness about library physical settings, classification schemes, floor-wise splits in stacking arrangement, availability of facilities, etc. The observational findings and recommendations lead to serve as a starting point in defining patron orientation needs.

The main goal of this paper is to analyze #YoSoy132 construction of mediatic iden-tities through videoactivism, and to question if YouTube was determinant or simply instrumental in the implosion of the movement. During the 2012 “Mexican Spring”, stu-dents and citizens not only occupied the streets to quest for a “real democracy” or to express their dissent through very significant demonstrations, but they also occupied the internet to protest. First of all, identity features of the movement are analyzed in relation with the following variables: 1) nucleus of belonging, 2) main sociodemographic features, 3) forms of leadership, 4) interests, 5) collective identity, and 6) relationship with otherness. Second, through a qualitative methodology —content analysis—, this paper analyzes the most relevant pieces of videoactivism produced by young adults. This study focused on the role and function of the videos to know if social media was “instrumental” or “determinant”. Third, mediatic identities represented in the videos are analyzed by exploring the following aspects: a) protagonists appearing in the vid-eos: main role, gender and age range, b) locations where these characters appear and c) type of identity represented: hegemonic or counter-hegemonic, majority or minority. The main result of this research is that a resistence and contra-hegemonic identity is created through YouTube videos by young Mexicans. Moreover, being #YoSoy132 goes far beyond being young, student or belonging to a specific university. In this regard, the scenario is not occupied by a single subject or specific group of people, but it belongs to the “oppressed” and to persons at risk or discrimination.
