BACKGROUND Although mobile health (mHealth) has the potential to transform health care by delivering better outcomes at a much lower cost than traditional health care services, little is known about mHealth adoption by hospitals. OBJECTIVE This study aims to explore the determinants of mHealth adoption by hospitals using the technology-organization-environment (TOE) framework. METHODS We conducted an interviewer-administered survey with 87 managers in Chinese public hospitals and analyzed the data using logistic regression. RESULTS The results of our survey indicate that perceived ease of use (β=.692; <i>P</i>&lt;.002), system security (β=.473; <i>P</i>&lt;.05), top management support (β=1.466; <i>P</i>&lt;.002), hospital size (β=1.069; <i>P</i>&lt;.004), and external pressure (β=.703; <i>P</i>&lt;.005) are significantly related to hospitals’ adoption of mHealth. However, information technology infrastructure (β=.574; <i>P</i>&lt;.02), system reliability (β=−1.291; <i>P</i>&lt;.01), and government policy (β=2.010; <i>P</i>&lt;.04) are significant but negatively related to hospitals’ adoption of mHealth. CONCLUSIONS We found that TOE model works in the context of mHealth adoption by hospitals. In addition to technological predictors, organizational and environmental predictors are critical for explaining mHealth adoption by Chinese hospitals.

BACKGROUND Breast cancer has a high incidence rate among women in Taiwan and worldwide. Advanced surgery and medical therapies have improved survival rates. Today, smartphones are popular and can be used to develop ubiquitous technology for disease self-management and to maintain patients’ quality of life. In Taiwan, a mobile health self-management support app with eight main features was developed to address breast cancer women’s information needs based on prior research using a design thinking approach. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to pilot test Taiwan breast cancer women’s acceptance of the app. METHODS An instrument with confirmed reliability and validity based on the modified technology acceptance model for mobile services and aesthetics preference of interface icons was used. Women with breast cancer were recruited to participate in the pilot test workshop and then answer survey questionnaires. Descriptive statistics and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient method was used to analyze the data. RESULTS A total of 45 women participated the study. They were mostly aged 41-50(40%, 18/45), bachelor’s degree or equivalent (54.4%, 29/45), married (66.7%, 30/45), stage II breast cancer (37.8%, 17/45), had completed treatment (55.6%, 25/45) and received surgical treatment (93.3%, 42/45). The highest mean scores of user acceptance factors rated on the 5-point Likert scale was perceived ease of use (4.14, SD=0.42), followed by actual use (4.12, SD=0.57), perceived value (4.07, SD=0.62), user satisfaction (4.01, SD=0.51), intention to use (3.89, SD=0.58), and the lowest mean score was trust (3.89, SD=0.58). The Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient indicated positive associations between each factor and statistically significant correlations (p value <0.05). Seven of eight interface feature icons in original app were favored over alternative icon options. CONCLUSIONS This study developed a smartphone app to predict Taiwan breast cancer women’s acceptance of mobile health technology for supporting disease self-management. The results suggest that patients positively accepted the app and would like it to be available in the future. However, data security and individual privacy protection features should be enhanced to increase users’ trust. In addition, the design of most interface icons was accepted by the participants which is consistent with their perceived ease of use of the app.

AbstractThe Institute for Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) is a large public provider of health care services that serve around 13.2 million Mexican government workers and their families. To attain process efficiencies, cost reductions, and improvement of the quality of diagnostic and imaging services, ISSSTE was set out in 2019 to create a digital filmless medical image and report management system. A large-scale clinical information system (CIS), including radiology information system (RIS), picture archiving and communication system (PACS), and clinical data warehouse (CDW) components, was implemented at ISSSTE’s network of forty secondary- and tertiary-level public hospitals, applying global HL-7 and Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standards. In just 5 months, 40 hospitals had their endoscopy, radiology, and pathology services functionally interconnected within a national CIS and RIS/PACS on secure private local area networks (LANs) and a secure national wide area network (WAN). More than 2 million yearly studies and reports are now in digital form in a CDW, securely stored and always available. Benefits include increased productivity, reduced turnaround times, reduced need for duplicate exams, and reduced costs. Functional IT solutions allow ISSSTE hospitals to leave behind the use of radiographic film and printed medical reports with important cost reductions, as well as social and environmental impacts, leading to direct improvement in the quality of health care services rendered.

PurposeBlockchain is a relatively new technology. Although it has a high potential to influence organizational strategies for adoption into respective operations, it has not been widely explored yet. This study aims to assess the sectoral diversity in the timing of organizational adoption of blockchain through selected organizational factors.Design/methodology/approachA survey was conducted based on a sample of 208 IT professionals. The data was collected using an instrument containing 17 questions. The existence of sector diversity was statistically analyzed using the Least Square Regression method.FindingsThe results indicate that, except for management support and perceived ease of use, all the other factors in the analysis significantly influence sector diversity in terms of blockchain adoption timing.Originality/valueAlthough blockchain has received attention from researchers, to the best of the authors' knowledge, there is no published work in the literature that explores the organizational factors influencing sectoral differences in the timing of blockchain technology adoption. Therefore, our work is unique in the related literature since we present analyses for the diversity between public and private sectors by modeling the factors affecting the intentions for the timing of blockchain adoption as part of the organizations' IT infrastructure.

Although technology trends and acceptance have been considered crucial topics, limited research has examined stress-specific factors such as health anxiety in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic based on people’s attitudes toward a mobile health app using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Accordingly, this study primarily highlights the psychological determinants stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic that affect the usage of a mobile health app. The study followed a cross-sectional design and adopted a snowball sampling technique to collect the data. The findings showed a significant association between perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and event-related fear and Tabaud App intention. The relationships between Tabaud App intention and COVID-19 anxiety on Tabaud App usage were also revealed. The study found a significant association between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Additionally, the multi-group analysis showed that only two paths related to Tabaud App intention, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, differed significantly between males and females. Additionally, women experienced anxiety disorders more than men. The study contributes to the previous knowledge on the field by examining the psychological determinants resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic that influence using a mobile health app, namely, event-related fear and COVID-19 anxiety. The study results may help governments, health policymakers, and health organisations in Saudi Arabia contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a small-sized to big-sized company, evaluate the information system success is essential, yet notalways been seamless. Successful implementation of a system can be indicated by measuring its usersatisfaction. This study aims to measure Adempiere ERP Open Source end-user satisfaction atBlessings SME’s. This study employs three variables from The Updated DeLone and McLean Information System Success (2003), namely information system quality, information quality, andservice quality, and two variables from Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as well, namely perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, and also takes top management support as another consideration. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to the respondents directly concerned. This paper aims to investigate the effects of perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, self-efficacy, trust, job opportunity, top management support, competitive pressure, and regulatory support on employees’ behavioral intention to use cloud computing. Data was collected by means of self-administrated questionnaire containing 25 items from 205 employees’ working in three, four, and five star hotels. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to test the research hypotheses. Results of the current study revealed that there are significant impacts of four independent variables (i.e. job opportunity, top management support, competitive pressure, and regulatory support) on behavioral intention (BI) to use cloud computing; whereas four independent variables (i.e. perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, self-efficacy, and trust) have no significant impact on BI. The results of T-test also showed that there is a significant difference in the impact of BI to use cloud computing in favor of gender. On the other hand, the results of ANOVA’s test showed that there is no significant difference in the impact of BI that can be attributed to age, educational level, and personal income; whereas a significant difference found in favor of work position and hotel’s classification. In light of these findings, implications to both theory and practice are discussed.

Abstract Background Telepresence robots used to deliver a point-of-care (POC) consultation system that may provide value to enable effective decision making by healthcare providers at care sites. Objectives This study aimed to evaluate usability of teleconsultation robots, based on endusers' needs, that can improve acceptance in future robot applications. Methods This is a single group postdesign study using mixed methods to assess the usability of teleconsultation robots using scenarios. To collect opinions from various departments, 15 nurses or physicians currently working at medical institutions in Korea were selected using purposive sampling. The usability evaluation was conducted on healthcare providers twice at the simulation center; the think-aloud method was used and surveys and interviews were conducted to identify problems or improvements that may arise from the use of robots in hospital settings. Results The results showed that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and satisfaction level each scored 4 points or higher out of 7 points, showing usability of midhigh level. Camera angle control and robot driving functions were the most difficult. Other basic robot user interface was shown to be relatively easy. There was no difference in usability depending on the characteristics of the evaluator. Some functions including user interface were modified based on the usability test. Conclusion Using robots in health care institutions may support effective communication among healthcare providers, thus contributing to health care improvement.

Self-management support (SMS) is an important skill for health professionals providing chronic condition management in the primary health care sector. Training in SMS alone does not always lead to its utilisation. This study aimed to ascertain whether SMS is being used, and to identify barriers and enablers for SMS in practice. Health professionals who underwent SMS training were invited to participate in a semi-structured interview. A response rate of 55% (14 of 24) was achieved. All interviewees rated their understanding of the principles of SMS as moderate or better. In relation to how much they use these principles in their practice, several (5 of 14) said minimally or not at all. The tools they were most likely to use were SMART goals (8 of 14) and decision balance (5 of 14). Core skills that were being used included problem solving (11 of 14), reflective listening (13 of 14), open-ended questions (12 of 14), identifying readiness to change (12 of 14) and goal setting (10 of 14). The most important barriers to implementing SMS were current funding models for health care, lack of space and staff not interested in change. The most highly rated enabling strategies were more training for general practitioners and more training for practice nurses; the lowest rated was more training for receptionists. The increasing prevalence of chronic conditions due to ageing and lifestyle factors must be addressed through new ways of delivering primary health care services. Self-management support is a necessary component of such programs, so identified barriers to SMS must be overcome.
