Background: Ayurveda gives prime importance to Agni, Prakriti, Ahara (food), Vihara (life style) in maintaining health. In present Era everyone is in mental and physical stress due to their life style, undisciplined daily regimen, dietic rules and regulation, which may result many lifestyle disorders. Sthoulya is one of the life style disorder and common growing health problem of the whole word. Sthoulya is result of heredity, environment and unbalanced food. It is not possible to change heredity, difficult to change environment, but relatively easy to change food habits and life style. Aim and Objectives: List out the Pathya Ahara for Sthoulya and List out the Apathya Ahara for Sthoulya. Discusion: Acharya Charaka has stressed upon the use of Guru and Apatarpana drug as special regimen for Sthoulya. The therapeutic measures without Pathya can be considered as incomplete treatment procedure. Conclusion: Pathya and Apathya are most essential to maintain the health of the healthy person and restore the health in diseased person. Hence, the present article review on Ahara as Pathya and Apathya in Sthoulya.

The Prayojana of Ayurveda is of two types, Maintenance of health a healthy Person, by adopting the Ritu-charya, Dincharya and Sadvritta and curing of a disease of diseased Person, by adopting therapeutic measures. Kriya means Action or treatment. Kala means Time or period. So Shatkriyakala means ‘Appro-priate time Periods to take action/treatment. Acharya Susrutha has narrated detail idea of Shatkriyakala in 21st chapter of Sutrasthana. Shatkriyakala include six stages viz Sanchaya, Prakopa, Prasara, Sthansam-shraya, Vyaktavastha and Bhedavastha. That means 6 (the number Six). Shatkriyakala is distinctive concept of Ayurveda. By knowing the process of shatkriyakala the disease process can be arrest at initial stage and avoid the Probabilities of complications. Acharya Sushrutha already mentions the Kriyakala helps the phy-sician to adopt line of treatment by seeing the vitiated Dosha condition by his intellect and knowledge. The word Chakshu means, that which illuminates the objects and enlightens the mind about its details. It is seated in the two eye balls. When we talk about Pathya and Apathya, the importance of the word Chakshushya is impressed upon. The Pathyas have been explained by different authors in the heading of Chakshushya Vargas and the Apathyas have been explained as Achakshushya. Different Acharyas have also explained about the various daily regimen to be followed for maintaining Nethra Swasthya as Ayurveda gives much importance in maintaining of health and prevention of diseases along with the treatment of diseases. These Dinacharyas can be adopted in our day to day lives to protect the eye from diseases and improve the vision, by implementing improvised techniques tailor-made for day to day activities of present era. The Acharyas have armed us with proper knowledge to prevent and treat life style disorders related to eye diseases through explanation of Pathya Apathya and Dinacharyas which are practices of Kriyakalpas. Most of these practices are not being followed these days which leads to many Nethra Rogas. This can be corrected by re-implementing improvised versions of such practices in our daily life.

According to Ayurveda, Jatharagni plays main role in the digestion process. Jatharagni carries its functions through Pachaka pitta. Grahani is an organ of gastrointestinal tract located between Amashaya and Pakwashaya, where digestion takes place. According to classical literature Pitta is same as Agni. Tridosha also plays very important role in the digestion process. In the recent days, irregular life style affects the digestive system and Jatharagni very badly. Whenever Agni gets (Vikrut) unbalanced due to wrong food habits and lifestyle, it should be understood that along with Agni, Pachaka Pitta will also get disturbed. Agnimandya is the root cause of most of the disorders like Grahani. Grahani organ is the main location of Jatharagni. Grahani is the organ where Pachak Pitta and Samanvayu carry out digestion. The most important function of Grahani is digestion of food with the help of Jatharagni, Pachakpitta, Pittadhara Kala and Samnvayu. Agni inside the body, digest the food give strength and maintain health. Samanvayu regulates the movements of the Grahani and helps in digestion. Hence, in this article we attempt to analyze and correlate patho-physiology of Grahani with respect to Physiological analysis of Agni and disturbed doshas. Etiological factors induces imbalance in Jatharagni, Pachak Pitta and Samanvayu and prolonged imbalance state weakens the Pittadhara Kala, which results in disease Grahani. Health of Grahani entirely depends on balanced state of Jatharagni, Pachaka Pitta, Pittadhara Kala and Samanvayu. The irregular life style, incompatible food habits creates Ama causes Grahani, affecting the digestive system and Jatharagni very badly.

Grahani is an ayurveda terms related to the seat of agni (digestive fire), which help in the metabolism and digestion of food. The ancient text of ayurveda described that ingestion, digestion, absorption and assimilation of Aahaar is regulated by Grahani. When this Agni becomes; mandagni then improper digestion of ingested food leads pathological condition termed as Grahani roga. Similarly Trividh anomalies of the Jatharagni also termed as Grahanidosha. Grahani is a disease which affects large population globally especially in developing country and associated with improper food habits along with stressful lifestyle. The pathogenesis of Grahani roga works around Agnidosha which associated with impaired digestive function of digestive fire. Ayurveda described various treatment modalities for the management of Grahani roga such as; use of herbs & formulation, yoga and life style modification. Ayurveda is a science of life, which mainly aims to promote and preserve the health of the individuals. In this techno and competitive era, life style and diet are major factors influencing the health of the individuals. Diet and dietary habits play important role in maintenance of health. Ayurveda, its main aim is to promote and preserve the health, strength and longevity of healthy person and to cure the disease. Ayurveda places special emphasis on Ahara and believes that healthy nutrition nourishes the Sharir, Mana, Atma. As Acharyas has described Ahara. Nidra, Brahmcharya are Tryoupsthambha (sub pillars) which support the body itself. Here Ahara has been placed first which shows that it is most important to maintain and sustain of life. Children are delicate and most sensitive and prone to the infectious diseases. They are miniature of adult. They are in Ajatvyajanawastha (developing stage). Psychologically they are innocent. Being in developmental phase, Ahara plays very important role in the life of children. So parents should be aware of dietetic components required by child in different age groups.

Overweight and obesity are important determinants of health leading to adverse metabolic changes and increase the risk of non-communicable diseases. Following the increase in adult obesity, the proportion of overweight and obese children and adolescents has also been increasing. Erroneous life style and food habits are mainly responsible for rising graph of obesity. Hence, the present study was undertaken to study the magnitude of overweight/obesity and its correlates among school-age children ranging from 5-15 years, on the basis of 85th and 95th percentile of body mass index (BMI). Result showed the prevalence of overweight and obesity as 10.33% and 3.33%, respectively. Among number of other correlates related with life style, Kapha predominant Prakriti evolved as an important predictor of obesity. Data of this study clearly delineates that obesity is an increasing malady in rural and semi urban populations also on the pattern of metro cities.

            In present era, changes in life style and food habits leads to imbalance of sharirika doshas, as well as mansik doshas which is the cause for Amlapitta . Amlapitta is one of the most common disease seen in the society. In the ancient text books of Ayurveda it is described that irregular food and life style habits are the main causative factors for the disease. There are two types of Pitta, Prakruta and Vidagadha. The Rasa of Prakruta Pitta is Katu and Vidagdha Pitta is Amla. The Amla Guna of Pitta increases in its Vidagdha Avastha, which further leads to increase in its Drava Guna, thus resulting in Amlapitta. Aims and Objectives: To evaluate the role of Vamana Karma in Urdhwaga Amlapitta. Method: A clinical study done on 90 patients of both sexes, between age group 16-60yeras were randomly selected. Madanaphala pippali churna along with Yashtimadhu phanta was administered for Vamana Karma. Vamana Karma was done in following order- Purvakarma, Pradhana and Paschata Karma. Assessment was done after completion of therapy. Result: By Vamana karma, kapha & pitta may expel out from amashaya (stomach) thereby uprooting pitta dosha. Significant improvement was observed in all the parameters like Amlodgar, Tiktodgar, Urahdaha, Kukshidaha, Kanthadaha, Hriddaha, Adhman, Gaurava. In all the patient percentage relief on symptoms has been observed. This shows that Vaman Karma is effective in Urdhwaga Amlapitta.

Ayurveda is an ancient medicinal system; the basic principle of Ayurveda is that a healthy person should maintain good health and a diseased person should be cured. Ancient Ayurvedic Acharya has mentioned various treatments in their Samhitas. e.g., medicinal, surgical etc. Acharya Sushrata has mentioned various surgical procedures along with some para surgical procedures. Agnikar- ma is one of the superior anushastra karma (para surgical measure). Acharya Sushruta confidently said about Ag- nikarma that the disease treated by it can never occur again. Main aim of Ayurveda is to maintain health of healthy person and make free from diseases to diseased person. The aim of Ayurveda is proved by many acharya by applying ayurvedic fundamentals.one of them is ayurvedic medicine. Which plays important role in ayurvedic treatment Acharya focus on preparation of herbal drugs along with the quality of the drug. This drug has an appropriate qualities and significant result on particular diseases.              Kshar is one of the important ayurvedic formulation which is used in various diseases.it has a unique quality than other drugs .it is an alkali preparation of either by single herb or multiple herb.by its unique qualities many kruchha sadhya diseases are treated.               Now a day we see that the ayurvedic formulations are not much effective on the diseases. The cause is many more such as the low efficacy of medicinal plant, wrong method of preparation etc. if we make an ayurvedic formulation according to the ayurvedic text with standard operating procedure by maintaining quality of the drug we can get significant effect on some particular disease.                 In this paper we explain one of the standard procedure of kadalikshar preparation according to sushrut Samhita. Total estimation of how much raw material used, time require to prepare kadalikshar, how much loss of raw drug and material and method of kadalikshar preparation is explained.

Mukha (oral cavity) is considered as a gateway for the alimentary canal, health of the oral cavity reflects the body health as healthy oral cavity aids in proper digestion of the food consumed. The oral cavity also takes part in bodi- ly functions like respiration and speech. It also contributes to the beauty and confidence of an individual. Mukha is comprised of Osta (lips), Dantamula (Gums), Danta (Tooth), Jinhva (Tongue), Taalu (Palate), Gala (Throat). Since the Oral cavity is constantly exposed to the external environment, there are more chances of trauma and infections. Hence to avoid the chances of oral cavity diseases it is very important to maintain good oral hygiene. Kriyakalpa is the therapeutic procedure applied locally and are considered under bahirparimarjana chikitsa. Ka- vala, Gandusha and Pratisarana are kriyakalpas explained for good oral hygiene. These can be used as a daily regimen to maintain good oral hygiene and in mukharoga as therapeutic procedures. These mukha kriyakalpa- due to their cleaning action and by increasing defence mechanism, promotes oral health and prevents many oral disorders. Various formulations for mukha kriyakalpa are available for a healthy person based on prakriti and for treatment based on vitiated dosha avastha.
