BACKGROUND Despite the potential value of assistive technology to support people with dementia (PWD) in everyday activities, use of these technologies is still limited. To ensure that assistive technologies better address the specific needs and daily context of PWD and their informal caregivers, it is particularly important to involve them in all different phases of assistive technology development. The literature rarely describes the involvement of PWD throughout the development process of assistive technologies, which makes it difficult to further reflect on and improve active involvement of PWD. OBJECTIVE This two-part study aimed to gather insights on the user-centered design (UCD) applied in the development process of the alpha prototype of the serious game PLAYTIME by describing the methods and procedures of the UCD as well as evaluating the UCD from the perspective of all involved stakeholders. METHODS The first three phases of the user-driven Living Lab of Innovate Dementia 2.0 were applied to directly involve PWD and their informal caregivers through qualitative research methods, including focus groups and a context-field study, in the development of the alpha prototype of PLAYTIME from exploration to design to testing. After the testing phase, a total number of 18 semi-structured interviews were conducted with PWD, their informal caregivers and the project members of PLAYTIME to evaluate the applied UCD from the perspective of all involved stakeholders. The interviews addressed five of the principles for successful UCD and the appropriateness of the different methods used in the focus groups and context-field study. RESULTS Results of the interviews focused, amongst others, on the level of involvement of PWD and their informal caregivers in the development process, the input provided by PWD and their informal caregivers, the value of early prototyping, continuous iterations of design solutions and in-context testing, the role of dementia care professionals in the multidisciplinary project team, and the appropriateness of open- and closed-ended questions for obtaining input from PWD and their informal caregivers. CONCLUSIONS The description and evaluation of the UCD applied in the development process of the alpha prototype of PLAYTIME resulted in several insights on the relevance of UCD for all involved stakeholders as well as how PWD can be involved in the subsequent phases of usable and meaningful assistive technology development.

This research is aimed at developing a document content analysis method to be applied in studies of standardization and technology development. The proposed method integrates two theoretical frameworks: the co-evolutionary technology development framework and the “D-N-S” (Design, Negotiation, Sense-making) framework for anticipatory standardizing. At the backdrop of complex and diversified landscape of science and R&D efforts in the technology domain, and the repeated criticism of the weak link between R&D initiatives and standardization, it is argued that the method offered in this work helps to better understand the internal dynamics of the technology development process at the early stage of standardization or pre-standardization, which, in turn, can help mobilize and direct the R&D initiatives. To demonstrate the practical usefulness of the proposed method, this paper conducts a content analysis of the research contributions presented in the COST Action IC0905 “Techno-Economic Regulatory Framework for Radio Spectrum Access for Cognitive Radio/ Software Defined Radio” (COST-TERRA).

This paper selects PDP industry technology development process as an analytical object, using means of patent analysis, to analyze the PDP industry,s technological track, the degree of technical complexity, technical transition rate to find a workable way of this industry for the management of complex technologies. Through research we found that the complexity of the technology and technology transition is in the existence of a negative correlation. The degree of technical complexity increased with the expansion of technology networks and the speed of technological transition has decreased. So for participation in R&D of complex technology businesses should focus on the development stage of a complex technology, and adjust technical R&D strategy timely.

Palavras-chave:Mecanismo de Desenvolvimento Limpo (MDL); tecnologias mais Limpas; Gases do Efeito Estufa (GEE), Brasil ABSTRACT This paper evaluates the contribution of 75 Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects for cleaner technologies promotion in Brazil. Secondary data acquired from Project Design Documents (PDD) were analyzed using the bibliographical survey of specialized literature. It was verified that such contribution was incipient, as only 4% of the projects reported the creation of patents and of innovation during the technology development process. Just 21% of them were characterized by the generation of cleaner technology aimed at reducing Greenhouse Gases (GHG) pollution at source. In conclusion, CDM projects in Brazil were considered to be distant from encouraging a cleaner model of development through cooperation between industrialized and developing countries. Keywords: Clean Development Mechanism (CDM); Cleaner Technology; Greenhouse Gases (GHG); Brazil.

This Working Paper is actually a wide research plan of its effort to review Indonesianess spirit which is lately facing a hard test and challenge. The odd thing is the threat to Indonesianess continue to occur when the age of NKRI (Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia) becomes older and older (currently, the age is 66 years old) and the macro economy is developed more (included in G20 Countries), the world respects formal existence of any country, human rights, the information technology development becomes more sophisticated. There are sufficient reasons to prepare indications that the glue for Indonesianess becomes more fragile and experiences deterotiation process. The question may arise: awhat is the glue and adhesive material for Indonesian people and what is the function of the flue and adhesive material in formation and development process of Indonesian nation? This glue and adhesive material are very important because Indonesian nation is formed by various and different ethnic, social, religion, race which in pre-Indonesian era, they became the cause of any serious conflict. Moreover, in many cases, race and ethnic become the glue in formation process of nation. In relation to the question concerning the glue and adhesive material in Indonesian nation formation process, leaders of the first national movement quoted Ernest Renan opinion that the collective wish and hope (in order to become a nation) will become the glue and adhesive material of the nation itself. He said that a nation is a soul, a  spiritual  principle.

Abstract Background: As many other countries, Iran has adopted policies consider energy technologies development. One of these technologies around which several national programs have launched is the Cogeneration of Heat and Power (CHP). Despite the variety of plans and actions in different governmental and non-governmental bodies, the fact is that the national targets have not been fulfilled as they were expected. Since the first step to make policies for technology development is recognizing the problems and bottlenecks hindering the development process, the main aim of this paper is to provide a model to analyze the failures of technology development process according to Technological Innovation System (TIS) approach. Besides, the CLA method has been used to decipher the profound and latent factors causing these problems. Results: By mixing up CLA and TIS approaches, this paper achieves a comprehensive model describing the causal relationship between multi-layered problems of technology development. Afterwards, by using structural equation modelling, the correlation amongst multi-layered problems was tested. While most studies have concentrated on the structural and functional problems of the TIS, the results of the model demonstrate a significant role of the discourses and visions. Although the structural problems have had the most significant effect on the functional problems, surprisingly, the second position is for the problems related to metaphors. This might be the most noticeable result of this research that the metaphoric and visionary factors can play a role as important as structures of the TIS. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that the discursive and metaphoric factors have had the significant effect both directly on the failure of the CHP innovation system and indirectly through affecting structural elements. A notable policy suggestion is to change the discourse of centralized power generation and to make more effort regarding the energy efficiency in the society. Moreover, policies should create a positive and long-term vision for development of CHP plants.
