The article deals with the problems of motor activity, the development of physical qualities and speed abilities of students. The importance of physical culture and physical fitness is revealed. The search for effective means and methods of physical culture in preparation for passing the GTO standards is analyzed. The features of physical training of high-speed orientation of students to pass the GTO standards for speed are considered. The effectiveness of the use of speed-oriented exercises, which are necessary for students to achieve the norms of the GTO complex for speed, within the framework of physical culture classes, is revealed. Research methods. In the course of the study, a comparative analysis of the results was carried out. The method of control tests was used. The overall assessment of the effectiveness of the above tools and methods is expressed in positive dynamics. The results of the study. According to the results of the study, there is a positive trend. The analysis of the results according to the table of GTO standards in the framework of physical culture classes allows us to note the growth of indicators for all established tests. Systematic classes using high-speed, high-speed and power-oriented exercises with a gradual change in the load, improving the technique of performing exercises, contribute to the development of the physical quality «speed». Conclusions. Regular physical education classes with the use of speed exercises contribute to the development and improvement of physical qualities, the achievement of growth rates of GTO standards. The level of readiness of students to fulfill the norms and requirements of the GTO complex at the average level. Affordable, effective means and methods of physical training make it possible to actively use the scientific and educational potential of the university. The purposeful organization of the educational process contributes to achieving the proper level of physical fitness necessary for the successful implementation of the regulatory requirements of the AR PCS Complex GTO.

Statement of the problem. Today, when the epidemic raises specific requirements to the sanitary standards, teachers of the Physical Culture and Sports discipline need to take the maximum use of open spaces for their classes. The most common exercises for the autumn and spring periods of the academic year are cross-country running for different distances, general and strength development exercises in outdoor sports grounds. During the stable snow cover period, physical education focuses on ski training. Such activities have been always used as a perfect way of preventing respiratory diseases and virus infections. The problem and the task set before the teaching staff is support and stimulation of the students’ interest to outdoor training all year round, since only regular practice combined with knowledge in the sphere of physical culture and sports may develop a need for physical activity in the future. In this situation, it appears natural to add orienteering in the areas adjacent to the ski stadiums to the Physical Culture and Sports classes. The purpose of the article is to develop a modular structure for building the program of the Physical Culture and Sports discipline for students of non-physical culture profile during year-round outdoor activities using orienteering means, ski and general physical training. The methodology of the research includes the basic principles of physical education at higher educational institutions, methodological basics of physical development through ski training at the student age, the basics of embedding orienteering into the physical education process, analysis and generalization of the academic publications dedicated to the practical implementation of the Physical Culture and Sports discipline at higher educational institutions. The research results allow us to state that the application of the modular structure of the program of the Physical Culture and Sport academic discipline on the basis of two kinds of sports – ski training and orienteering, as well as the block of general physical training, which is mandatory in all training programs on this discipline is a more effective form for the implementation of this academic discipline. As a result of introducing this block structure there was an increase in the average attendance of physical education classes by students of the experimental group in the autumn semester from 74.56 ± 3.78 to 88.24 ± 4.62, in the spring the numbers increased by 13-14% (p <0.05), namely, from 76.23 ± 4.15 to 89.15 ± 4.44. The results of strength tests from the Physical Traning Standards (GTO) complex also significantly increased owing to the concentration of general physical training on a specially selected block, where these exercises were performed with multiple effortful repetitions not exceeding 30% – 40% of the possible individual maximum. In the ski training block, the students of the experimental group, on average, in each lesson were able to walk longer distance, longer by 29% by boys and by 32% by girls compared to the students of the control group. Orienteering block in autumn and spring allows students to fully master the competitive exercise in this sport. Conclusion. The designed block-based structure may be recommended for implementation in the training program among university students majoring in non-sport subjects with access to skiing centers equipped with skiing tracks and some mapped forest area. This is especially relevant in the difficult epidemiological situation in the country when the need for open-air training among students complying with all the applicable sanitary standards becomes extremely acute.

The study is devoted to the analysis of the formation of physical culture of students in a medical university. The specificity of the medical profession contains a number of important characteristics (emotional and volitional stability, endurance, physical and mental endurance, dexterity in carrying out medical procedures, motor coordination, etc.) that require appropriate physical training. Physical culture in this regard for physicians is not only a part of general culture, but also a professional culture. However, as shown by a sociological survey of medical students, they do not sufficiently assess the degree of importance of the discipline “Physical culture”. This requires the development of new approaches to organizing and conducting physical education classes in a medical University including such as the proposed practice-oriented (D.A. will allow raising the status of the discipline in question in a medical university and linking it with the professional training of medical students.

The results of research of feeding, physical training and medical care of the teenagers who are trained in the establishments of primary professional education are presented. It is established that the hygienic assessment on an indicator “the characteristic of beading” is reflected by UNPO in percentage compliance to standard sizes which fluctuate from 20% to 78%. In the majority of UNPO the equipment of medical offices doesn’t conform to standard requirements. In many UNPO there is a faulty sports equipment, work on physical culture with pupils preparatory and special medical groups isn’t organized.

Modern requirements to the specialists in physical training and sport are determined by a number of factors. They are: evolutionary transformations in social sphere, integration of physical training and sport into country's economy, its reorientation to general physical culture, and a rapid development of sports’ industry. These factors determine a new competence to be developed in future specialists in the field of physical culture and sport, namely, a managerial one that helps to manage educational and economic processes. Such management can be effective only if specialists have a well-formed managerial competence. The purpose of the article is to determine the content of the managerial competence in the framework of physical culture and sport, to describe the process of its formation graduate level, to identify approaches and principles to implement this process, and to develop a technique to form the managerial competence in future specialists in the field of physical culture and sport. The study was carried out in line with the idea of the step-by-step formation of managerial competence using innovative forms, methods and means of teaching students. The results of the study can be used in teaching undergraduate students in the direction of “Management in the field of physical culture and sport”.

Selecting Springfield College, founding home of the International YMCA as a training ground for male dancers was an inspired choice by American modern dancer Ted Shawn given the founding credo of the College to ‘build builders of men.’ I would like to see men dancing in gymnasiums and stadiums, he claimed, so that the dance could reach again the position it held among the Greeks as the most perfect athletic accomplishment and the finest means of physical training and development. They were earnest and interesting efforts to foster an aura of ‘authentic rugged American masculinity’ for the era, given that Shawn himself was a closeted homosexual and the troupe’s lead dancer was his long term muse and lover Barton Mumaw. Scholars have shown how Shawn’s ideas about gender and sexuality became increasingly complex once he acknowledged his own homosexuality and engaged with ideas about sexual difference. His appropriation of various facets of the physical culture movement, however, and his reliance on the work and ideas of female modern dance pioneers and the physical education profession have been less noted. In this sense, Shawn was lucky, for he fell in love with dance when the art was mature enough to need a man.
