This chapter presents security solutions in integrated patient-centric Web-based health-care information systems, also known as electronic healthcare record (EHCR). Security solutions in several projects have been presented and in particular a solution for EHCR integration from scratch. Implementations of Public key infrastructure, privilege management infrastructure, role based access control and rule based access control in EHCR have been presented. Regarding EHCR integration from scratch architecture and security have been proposed and discussed. This integration is particularly suitable for developing countries with wide spread Internet while at the same time the integration of heterogeneous systems is not needed. The chapter aims at contributing to initiatives for implementation of national and transnational EHCR in security aspect.

Collaborative portals are emerging as a viable technology to allow groups of individuals to easily author, create, update, and share content via easy-to-use Web-based interfaces, for example, MediaWiki, Microsoft’s Sharepoint, and so forth. From a security perspective, these products are often limited and coarse grained in their authorization and authentication. For example, in a Wiki, the security model is often at two ends of the spectrum: anonymous users with no authorization and limited access via readonly browsing vs. registered users with full-range of access and limited oversight in content creation and modification. However, in practice, such full and unfettered access may not be appropriate for all users and for all applications, particularly as the collaborative technology moves into commercial usage (where copyright and intellectual property are vital) or sensitive domains such as healthcare (which ushave stringent HIPAA requirements). In this chapter, we report on our research and development effort of a role-based access control for collaborative Web portals that encompasses and realizes security at the application level, the document level (authoring and viewing), and the look-and-feel of the portal itself.

Managing people is a difficult task and maintaining the attendance record is an important factor for most of the organizations. Meanwhile, in the industrial sector, a precise attendance record system of the employees is important for companies, especially for the payroll process. There are various existing technology that has been implemented to help an industrial sector to manage their attendance records. The use of current technology such as fingerprint biometric scanner and mobile devices as a complement to the software development will benefits to the industrial sector in order to enhance their services. This paper described a fingerprint biometric-based and web-based management system integrated with short message service (SMS) notification for attendance records of the employees known ANotify. It was specifically developed for an industrial sector that uses fingerprint as biometric features for employee attendance, is able to store records of employees’ attendance in organized, systematic, and the SMS alert notification to the supervisors about the employee attendance reports. This system was developed based on System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) as a methodology. A user acceptance test was conducted with thirty (30) respondents to determine the effectiveness of the system by evaluating the questionnaire which was categorized into three (3) parts included user interface satisfaction, perceived ease of use, and integration of SMS notification. Results of the system evaluation showed that the system has a positive impact and to be well accepted by users, convenient, economic and reliable method of notification for the attendance records

To meet users’ actual demands for fine-grained access control (FGAC) to data object in web-based parts resource sharing platform, a FGAC approach for parts resource sharing is proposed to enable both the providers and administrators to manage the permissions of parts resource jointly. In this approach, all levels of detail (LODs) are introduced in the part resource information firstly. Then, a role-based access control model for parts resource sharing, called RBAC_PRS, is provided on the basic of RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) and O-RBAC (Owners-Based Access Control) models, and the permission administration policy is also formulated in condition of the separation between ownership and usufruct of parts resource. To provide the better authorization route, two middle layers: function sets and component sets, are added in permission-role assignment process, and each role’s assignment rules are explicitly specified in an XSLT style sheet. Furthermore, an XML-XSLT based approach is adopted to accomplish the diversity expression of user-accessible view based on FGAC. And it could ensure to practice the web-based knowledge sharing system safely.

The issues arising during the operation of the GTS of the hydromelioration complex are considered. The level of reliability and degree of safety of the CTA are assessed by comparing the actual indicators of the state of the CTA (monitoring results) with the safety criteria. The comparison of the main parameters of the GTS with the safety criteria is made during the declaration. The interval between the drafting of the Safety Declaration for Hydraulic Structures is five years. Such an interval is a periodic certification rather than monitoring. Exists of the tеhere is a need to create an automated system for monitoring the GTS. Such a system should be multi-level, with role-based access, and be a decision support system. Development of the system is possible using modern web technologies. At each step of the hierarchy, it is possible to solve problems of the appropriate level of complexity. The web system consists of a web interface that provides the ability to store and process the necessary information. The web-based system allows remote users to connect via the Internet. The system is based on the freely available software MySQL 5.5. In the database, the tables type used is InnoDB. The database is based on intelligence on hydraulic structures, similar to the information provided by the owner when they are certified. When monitoring the GTS, the complexes of instrumentation installed on the constructions are used. Information gathering can be done both manually and automated, through measuringdevices. The complex of technical means should use modern unified means of mass production with a service life of at least 10 years. Sensors certified in Russia should be used. Information obtained as a result of the functioning of an automated system for monitoring the GTS can be used to solve a wide range of production tasks.
