Social aspects like gender diversity in the boardroom are becoming increasingly relevant and are a popular topic of public debate in the context of gender equality in business. However, there is little clarity about the potential spill-over effects of gender diversity. Both theory and empirical results have led to ambiguous conclusions with respect to the effect of gender diversity in the supervisory board on gender diversity in the management board. In addition, it is not clear whether the German gender quota legislation positively affects this relationship. This study analyses whether gender diversity in the supervisory board supports the gender diversity of the management board, and whether this relationship is affected by the gender quota legislation, focusing on the unique case of Germany. To cope with endogeneity concerns, this study employs a cross-lagged panel model with fixed effects using maximum likelihood structural equation modelling. The results of the analysis of the impact of the number of female supervisory board members on the number of female management board members do not support the view of positive spill-over effects of gender diversity in the environment of the German two-tier corporate governance system. Furthermore, this study finds no evidence of an effect of the German gender quota on this relationship. JEL Codes G38, M12, M14, M51

The concepts of gender and sex have been considered in recent literature as elements of power, under the circumstance of contemporary floating constructions. In the field of Education, a “deconstructed”, non-normative look is needed as a political act on issues of sexual diversity and gender. The curriculum as a culture can and must take a Queer view at school. In this research we intend to make a comparative study on sexual and gender diversity in the academic environment, listening to the voices of students from the University of Madeira and the Federal University of Sergipe. In this way, we emphasize coeducation in the construction of inclusive environments and their contribution in the field of pedagogical innovation. The discussion of these themes in the academy is fundamental for the conceptual renewal and the organizational contexts of the practice of pedagogy. It also contributes to important changes in social agendas.

In Flanders, the political scene is divided in two by the 'cordon sanitaire' : none of the Flemish political parties want to make any political arrangement with the Vlaams Blok (Flemish Bloc), an extreme-right populistic party that is considered to be undemocratic. The undemocratic reproaches not only refer to the extreme-right ideology, but also point at the internal functioning of the Vlaams Blok. In this article we discuss the results of a comparative study of the articles ofassociation ofthe Flemish political parties. This study was set up to test the undemocratic reproaches by practical experience, and shows that the internal organisation ofthe Vlaams Blok reallyfunctions undemocraticly compared to the other Flemish political parties.

AbstractThis paper investigates the influence of gender diversity in the boardroom of Croatian banks on their performance. Specifically, we deal with both management and supervisory boards. Moreover, based on critical mass theory, the authors try to find out what constitutes critical mass. Using a static panel analysis on a sample of all commercial banks that operated in the period 2002-2014, three models were estimated with return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE) and net interest margin (NIM) as dependent variables. Board structure variables include gender of the chairperson, size of the board, share of women on the board and four dummy variables constructed on critical mass theory, specifically uniform group, skewed group, tilted group and balanced group. Other controls employed in the model include capital adequacy, the growth rate of assets at the bank level, ownership, age and a crisis dummy. The main finding is that when a critical mass of 20%-40% of women on the management board has been reached, bank performance improves.

Despite the fact that the labour force participation rate of women declined in the company bodies of publicly traded companies in 2017, there has been a growing representation of women in these positions in Europe. The representation of women is important due to the use of available human resources, the improvement in the quality of human capital and the positive effect on economic development. Gender imbalance in the management and supervisory bodies of publicly traded companies can be associated with lower management effectiveness, a decision-making quality that can influence the business situation of companies, which could be related to stock price development. Thus, this paper is focuses on examining the relationship between gender diversity in boardrooms and on supervisory boards and the stock prices of selected European publicly traded companies. The results show that there are dissimilar relations between stock prices and gender variables among the sectors and countries analysed.

Purpose of the study: The article attempts to characterize the management style represented by women and its impact on company management. The study aims to analyze the situation in the field of women's participation in the bodies of companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in the context of the situation in the Polish labor market. Methodology: The analyzes were carried out based on data from a survey of 140 largest Polish listed companies conducted by CFA Society Poland and data published by the Central Statistical Office for 2015-2019. Main Findings: Women and men represent two different management styles. Women, representing different leadership styles, can provide new values, which will improve management and lead to an increase in the importance of enterprises. The number of educated women with high professional qualifications is increasing. However, as research shows, the share of women in management boards and supervisory boards in Poland is small. There are still large disproportions in wages between women and men and the process of unequal promotion of women to managerial positions. Applications of this study: Due to the dissemination of research results by researchers, changes to codes of good practice were initiated and many initiatives were taken around the world. Research can also contribute to the creation of organizations supporting and promoting the professional development of women, creating databases of managerial talents and extending activities promoting the participation of women in the management staff. Novelty/Originality of this Study: The issues discussed in the study and the conducted analysis of the situation of women in Poland contribute to the discussion on the equality of women in the labor market. The thematic area of the problem of the low presence of women in supervisory boards and management boards should be considered poorly explored. More research is needed in this area and will allow researchers to compare results over many years.
