Over the past several years, despite the constant evolution of the legislation the problem of gender equality in the West has been steadily increasing. What is the reason why there is no significant progress in solving gender equality issues in the West yet? Several reports and researches have pointed out to this problem. On the contrary, Islam provides a viable solution to this ever increasing problem; for Islam has a comprehensive yet simple view of gender equality. But the West, instead of understanding Islamic principles objectively, raises objections without a thorough study. However, the Western principle of gender equality has completely failed. In this article a critical analysis of the western gender equality and Islamic principles has been carried out. It also highlights Islamic view point of gender equality. The study argues that the contemporary gender equality problems and issues that have engulfed the world particularly the Western countries can be mitigated by employing the Islamic principles of gender equality

For the better part of the last twenty years, a multitude of international conventions, principles, standards have been agreed to strengthen governance and reduce corruption. These have led to a plethora of statements, institutions and regulations, experiments - each with their own valid inner logic. However, if we look for tangible, on-the-ground results, we are in for a big surprise, or rather disappointment. Taken together, the outcomes that have been reported (such as new control and tracking vehicles, anti-corruption legislation, and the like) have been at best intermediate, rather than final results to be sought. Moreover, they have bee difficult to upscale and easy to circumvent by agents that have a dynamism, adaptability and imagination that is difficult to match by the entities and vehicles that have been created to control corruption and facilitate accountability. As a result, impact on the ground remained at best imperceptible in “moving the needle” to achieve tangible progress. It has now been 10 years that some 70 percent of countries worldwide scored poorly (below 50, in a scale of 0 to 100) in Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index — with no improvements of significance throughout this period. Growing signs of public discontent strongly suggest a widening gulf between elites and civil societies, and a consequent inability to respond to emerging societal demands. By now, it should be painfully evident that the time has come to take a dispassionately critical review of the approaches taken to date, and see how they need to be recast to respond to the evolving conditions around the world. This article is aimed at contributing to such review and help rethink, where necessary to recast such approaches to generate effective responses for the remainder of the century.

Many in the worldwide Diptera taxonomic community were surprised to see the recent publication of the “World Catalog of Dolichopodidae (Insecta: Diptera)” by Yang, Zhu, Wang & Zhang (2006) and the “World Catalog of Empididae (Insecta: Diptera)” by Yang, Zhang, Yao & Zhang (2007). The rapid completion of both catalogs that together report to cover all of the world’s empidoid diversity, the apparent lack of peer review, and the higher classification schemes adopted in these works, appear to have created considerable scepticism and discussion on the extent of their usefulness by empidoid workers. As O’Hara (2008) recently stated “modern technological advances make it possible for just about anyone to compile names from the Zoological Record, to scan catalogues, and to gather information from secondary sources to produce an unimpressive world catalogue in record time”. In order to accurately assess the value of these two catalogs, especially for current and future users, we provide a critical review that touches on all aspects of these contributions. It is not our intention to give a page by page critique, but instead to provide a summary of the types of errors and omissions (illustrated with examples) we have encountered and to point out the limitations of these catalogs while also indicating which parts are useful in a general sense.

AbstractSoccer is the most popular sport in the world and generates great financial revenue. It is also a sport whose practice has evolved considerably in terms of intensity and commitment, and in which the intrinsic risk of injury (not directly related to an interaction with the environment) is particularly high. In this context, the cleated shoe as a major component of soccer equipment may play a key role in the overexposure to injury. Soccer shoe evolution is all the more challenging, because design and mechanical structure differ in many points compared to other modern shoes developed for sports such as running, tennis and basketball. This critical review aims to elucidate the characteristics of modern soccer footwear and their possible link to soccer-specific injuries, focusing on the following areas: (1) ergonomics, comfort and proprioception; (2) shoe mechanical characteristics; (3) field surfaces and shoe design.

More than one and a half years has elapsed since the World Health Organization (WHO) declared Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), and characterized it as a pandemic. A systematic, monthly analysis of weekly situation reports of COVID-19 released by WHO and relevant news articles/events available in the digital version, since January 2020 to till date was done and the critical review of the pandemic management in the country is provided. The consequences of late reply to the pandemic in the 1st wave include failure of preventing the crowds of migrants in the cities queuing up to get a square meal and returning to homes by harsh journeys for long distances coupled with poverty led deaths rather than deaths due to COVID-19. In the 2nd wave, the system not only failed to face the war waged by the disease but rather, in few instances appeared to be encouraging super spread of COVID-19 through activities such as allowing the pilgrims to take dips in Ganges as a part of Maha Kumbh which lead to overwhelmed cases. The most important and the only valid way forward to win the battle of this pandemic along with sticking to Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) is to invest more for vaccinations in union budget to get 95% of the citizens vaccinated at the earliest as the further waves are definitely going to target the unvaccinated individuals.

Pesantren as subcultures are indeed interesting to be studied. Several studies have been carried out such as Zamakhsary Dhofier on the network of pesantren in Java and Martin van Bruinessen on the pesantren and tarekat. Continuing it, Ading Kusdiana through her dissertation at Padjadjaran University conducted a research on the network of Pesantren in the Priangan region (West Java), focusing on the existence and continuity of Pesantren through five inter-Islamic networks: scientific networks, marriage, genealogical, congregational religious views, and the similarity of the vision of opposition to the invaders. Kusdiana's research confirmed Zamakhshari Dhofier's theory and did not refute it at all. So that this feels like a new work with a sense of "old work". The study of this theme will be even more interesting if Kusdiana uses the new genealogical theory as Yudi Latif did. This will also portray changes and continuity in the network of Pesantren. However, Kusdiana’s work deserves to be appreciated because it presents a lot of new data-information regarding the traces and spreads of Pesantren in Priangan. Through thiswork, we can get a relatively completed picture of the world of Pesantren in Priangan in the 1800-1945 period. Keywords: Network of Pesantren, Genealogy Theory, Pesantren in Priangan Pesantren sebagai subkultur memang menarik dikaji.
