Fly slab is one of the precast concrete slab technological development that has been researched and patented by Ir . Sulistyana in 2011. The concept is how to reduce the mass of precast concrete slab with makes ribs on the concrete slab. To minimize the volume of concrete plate and while maintaining tensile area to makes the style transfer mechanism of concrete to reinforcement or otherwise, are expected to reduce the mass of the structure without reducing strength. Comparative study will be conducted in this research based on Planning of Building Construction Rusunawa in Surakarta, Central Java. This comparative study is done by compare the results of the structural design Rusunawa existing Surakarta and ready to build using conventional precast concrete massive, with a new structure plan Rusunawa Surakarta with using fly slab as material plate, beam and column structural elements using conventional concrete. Based on the analysis results, showed reduction in the volume of concrete and reinforcement elements beam and coloumn Rusunawa Surakarta structure is 20,25% and 6,3 %. Reduction reaction in the vertical structure of the Rusunawa Building in Surakarta is 16,93%.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide a snapshot and a comparative analysis of copyright exceptions available for libraries. It frames the differences and similarities, leading to discussion as to what extent copyright exceptions help libraries cater the changing technology. Design/methodology/approach This paper introduces the role of copyright exceptions in balancing owners and users interests. It explains evolving libraries activities due to technological development and how copyright exceptions significantly applies. Several factors in Canadian and Malaysian statutes are compared, namely, the rights granted, purposes allowed, beneficiaries affected, works involved, and conditions attached. This signifies to what extent the library exceptions cater to the changing needs and circumstances. It emphasizes the importance of awareness and understanding in order for libraries to serve its role effectively. Findings Both countries consider the use of new technologies in its library exceptions. Malaysian statute adopts a general approach which can either be flexibly or rigidly interpreted. Comparatively, Canada adopts a more specific and detail approach that might restrict beneficial activities. This paper calls for extra effort for policy makers to allow more control of digital works that may serve libraries activities. Originality/value There has not been any comparative study in the library literature on copyright exceptions for libraries in Malaysia and Canada. This study aims to provoke such discussion and how each country may learn from each others practices. It should be useful to the whole library community, particularly to both countries.

A study of the technology of foamed concrete production is carried out. The engineering properties and applications of this type of concrete are presented for varying densities so as to effectively tap the advantages of its use for specific purposes. The properties considered are the 7-day compressive strength, thermal conductivity, modulus of elasticity and drying shrinkage. A study of the behaviours of foamed concrete at varying dry densities for the different characteristics was undertaken. Results indicate that as the dry density increases, the engineering properties increase though at different rates for the 7-day Compressive strength, Thermal conductivity, and Modulus of elasticity. The drying shrinkage decreases as the dry density increases. A comparative study of the 7-day Compressive strength and Modulus of elasticity show that they both follow the same trend over the varying dry density except at a dry density of 1200 kg/m3. A comparative study of the thermal conductivity and the percent drying shrinkage indicate that the thermal conductivity is inversely proportional to the percent drying shrinkage. Economics and other considerations together with its multipurpose applications of foamed concrete can open up business opportunities in Africa and sustainability. This can also help in providing needed funds for infrastructural development.

ABSTRACT In Brazil, scientific performance of researchers is one important criteria for decision-making in grant allocation. In this context, this study aimed to evaluate and compare the profile of 82 seniors' investigators (graded as level 1A-D) which were receiving CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) productivity grant in Pharmacology, by analyzing the pattern of citation of their papers and h-index. Total documents, citations (with and without self-citations) and h-index (with and without self-citations) were retrieved from the Scopus database. The results indicated a clear difference among researchers from the higher categories (1A and 1B) in most of the parameters analyzed. However, no noticeable differentiation was found between researchers from grant category 1C and 1D. The results presented here may inform the scientific community and the grant agencies on the profile of PQ 1(A-D) fellows of Pharmacology, and may help to define new differences within CNPq grant categories, and consequently, a better allocation of grants.

The relationship between journalists and political sources takes different forms and extends from adversarial to advocating. Th e question which side ‘leads the tango’ has always been central to this approach. Since technological development has led to hybridization of themedia systems, the nature of communication has been reshaped in many ways. The emergence of social media has challenged the journalistic profession, especially journalists’ role as gatekeepers, but provided extra space for interaction with sources. Increasing professionalization of politics has reinforced the role of press secretaries/advisers. This is a comparative study of interaction among Polish and Swedish journalists, ministers, and press secretaries in Twitter provided by network analysis and three social network concepts as density, modularity, and centralization. In this analysis, a more influential position is conceptualized in terms of ‘communicative resources’ or ‘accumulated capacity’. Swedish journalists have more opportunities to act as gatekeepers or ‘key users’ in the Twitter network; in Poland, it is rather the political side.

Jamia mosque retains the status of a major landmark in any Muslim neighborhood since ages and remains one of the most important institutions of the Muslim world. A minaret, with its typical shape, has always been a significant architectural element of a mosque. However scientific, technological and industrial developments gave birth to new structural forms and shapes of the minaret, as well as changes in its positioning with respect to its design. It was observed that contemporary features and styles of minarets in Lahore were found to be different from the historic mosques of the Mughal era in terms of their form, construction methodology, structure support system, material finishes and positioning. Therefore, it was considered necessary to study the current developments. Thus, the objective of the current paper was set to compare the architectural features and styles of minarets of the Mughal era historical mosques with those of contemporary mosques built in the newly established housing colonies of Lahore. The research was also focused on the evaluation of changes in the stylistic features of the new minarets. Another objective was the identification of factors responsible for new developments and contemporary trends in the construction of these minarets. The results proved that some elements had been used continuously in the construction of minarets throughout the course of history; however, certain changes in trends were also observed. The study concluded that architectural features and styles of minarets constructed in contemporary mosques were different due to changes in materials, technological development and also due to the lack of skilled labor and time. Recommendations were given to ensure that architectural features and styles of contemporary minarets should continue to incorporate traditional Mughal architectural features and styles. There should be a properly developed statutory body of experts responsible for the preparation of sound legislation and appropriate guidelines for the systematic development of contemporary mosques.
