This paper presents a selection of deliverables of a research project intended to develop a technology demonstrator for an active protection system smart counterprojectile. Numerical simulations were completed to analyse the effects of geometry and weight of the counterprojectile warhead on the counterprojectile flight (motion) parameters. This paper investigates four variants of the counterprojectile warhead shape and three variants of the counterprojectile warhead weight. Given the investigated geometric and weight variants, the PRODAS software environment was used to develop geometric models of the counterprojectile warhead, followed by the determination of the model aerodynamic characteristics. The final deliverable of this work are the results of the numerical simulation of the counterprojectile motion along the initial flight path length. Given the required activation of the active protection system in direct proximity of the protected object, the analyses of counterprojectile motion parameters were restricted to a distance of ten-odd metres from the counterprojectile launching system.

The threat detection system based on short-range radars is an essential part of the active protection system (APS) of armored vehicles. The multi-radar data fusion problem is one of the crucial issues in the APS. Firstly, a general algorithm for multi-radar coordinates transformation is given. Then, based on the weighted fusion model and the trajectory characteristics of targets in the APS, a real-time dynamic weighting factor derivation algorithm is proposed. The algorithm is simulated in a dual-radar threat tracking and ballistic prediction scenario. The results prove the correctness and effectiveness of the algorithm.

Based on the advantages and disadvantages of existing active protection system, this paper proposes a new type of airbag active protection system. The components and working process of the system is introduced. Then taking the physical process of airbag active protection system against a rocket projectile as an example, a 3D finite element model (FEM) of airbag and rocket projectile is set up. With the assistance of the software LS-DYNA3D, through performing the simulation when the rocket projectile touched the airbag with an angle 30° from the normal interface, the intercepting efficiency is calculated and analyzed in the simulation. Results show that airbag can deform and rupture the metal jet generated by the rocket projectile, thus greatly reduce its armor penetrating effect. Finally, it shows excellent protective effect of the airbag active protection system.

The Regulation of the Minister of Public Works Number: 26 / PRT / M / 2008 about technical requirements of fire protection in buildings and environments has not been implemented optimally in hotels. The purpose of this research is to analyze the fire prevention system of hotel building in Palembang City. The research design was Cross Sectional, sampling technique used Stratified Random Sampling with 31 hotels as the sample. Data analysis used Chi Square test. The result of this research shows that from 31 hotels, 74.2% have good fire prevention system, 58.06% of fire officer access is eligible, 93.55% of water supply is eligible, 83.87% of the tools of rescue is eligible,74.19% of active protection system is eligible, 74.19% of knowledge of fire manager is eligible. The result of statistical analysis showed that there is no correlation between access of fire fighter, water supply and active protection system with the fire prevention system at hotel. The related factors were the tools of rescue; passive protection system; the knowledge of fire safety manager. The conclusions of this research is the related factors that has relation with fire prevention facilities at hotels in Palembang City is the tools of rescue, passive protection system and knowledge of fire safety manager. The writer suggests to improve the fire prevention knowledge for all hotel staff, to inform visitors about the way route of escape, the improvement of routine maintenance and coaching from managerial and the existence of further research on fire prevention system.

The aim of this article is to present the results of experimental studies on protection systems of military vehicles against RPG type missiles. The paper presents the research methodology of rod armours and active protection system. On the basis of the presented methodology, both a rod armour and an active protection system were investigated. The effectiveness of these solutions reaches 70% in the rod armour and about 80% in the case of the active protection system.

In order to develop an active protection system for armored vehicles, the launching process of a cylindrical rod-shaped interception projectile was analyzed. The variations of the movement and the velocity of the interception projectile according to the mass ratio of the interception projectile to the LX-14 explosive were simulated using AUTODYN. Simulated results showed that the mass ratio of the interception projectile to the explosive plays a dominant role in determining the final velocity of the interception projectile.
