In order to improve the efficiency of designing monitor system software and modeling with UML, the UML application of software system modeling was researched in theory and practice. The whole process is divided into four steps, which are the global analysis, the local analysis, the global design, and the local design, and the GUI of the system is described at last. A distributed highway monitoring system is analyzed and designed by UML.

The measurement system based on industry CCD and image processing was established to measure 2D sizes of parts. The CCD sensors, lenses, illumination and image acquisition modes were chosen to establish hardware part, according to the requirement of views and precision. The software system was developed to extract the edge of the part from the digital image and transform it to a polynomial. The actual sizes of the part were measured with relative comparison calibrating method. Tests and analyses show that it is an untouched, automatic 2D Measurement system with high accuracy.

Non-functional requirements (NFRs) demonstrate how the software system works, though functional requirements represent the tasks of the system (software system). It does not indicate that the latter is more significant, but a majority of requirement collecting approaches emphasis on functional requirements. Therefore, due to the subjective nature and complexity of NFRs, it is relatively impractical to focus on each NFRs. The primary objective of this article is to model NFRs in the form of a Soft Goal Interdependency Digraph (SID). The SID is based on the Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) technique which in turn employs the Matrices Impacts Cruise's Multiplication Applique a UN Casement (MICMAC) and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) techniques for the identification of significant NFRs. Therefore, the proposed method allows the analysts and developers to monitor and select best possible trade off selections between NFRs. To evaluate the significance of the proposed technique over others, Analysis of variance (ANOVA) based significance testing is also implemented.

System maintenance is a general term required to keep a system running properly. The system could be a computer system, mechanical system, or other system. The maintenance in this sense is related to the deterioration of the system due to its usage and age. This context of maintenance does not apply to software, where the deterioration due to the usage and age don’t make sense. Conventionally, the maintenance of software is concerned with modifications related to software system. These modifications come from the user needs, error correction, improvement of performance, adapt to a changed environment, and optimization.

AbstractFor successful software system, maintenance efforts dominate initial development costs by far. However, research and practice still place most of the attention on the initial development phase. In consequence, companies suffer mission-critical systems that are extremely hard to maintain. To better support practitioners in writing maintainable software, we both need an empirically sound understanding of software properties that help or hinder maintenance and tools that are useful in practice. This requires work that includes both research and practitioner perspectives. In this article, I outline my work towards this goal.

Reconfigurable system is desired in measurement applcation for low-cost products and short time to market. In this paper, we propose a software architecture of dynamical reconfigrualbe virtual instrument, which is built on component based array. In our architecture, the measurement system software is viewed as an integration of a set of reusable components, which are modelled with a set of event-based extern interfaces, internal interfaces for modifing own properties, a data process logic for executing own behavioural specifications and a series of communication ports for data exchange with others. The behaviours of the measurement system software can be viewed as an integration of components and their interactions, which is based on Extend Markup Language (XVIML). XVIML based dynamical interpreter and components based reassembled model are introduced to implement reassemble. The software can be easily reconfigured by changing reusable components and their interactions to adapt to the changing application requirements. Finally, a reconfigurable measurement platform based on above software architecture for testing engineering signal has been developed.

Software is a special term for data that is formatted, and stored digitally. Software is composed of programs that determine what the computer must do. The computer must carry out the instructions contained in the program to get useful results. There are two types of software, namely system software and application software. The software system is useful for managing files, loading and executing programs and receiving commands from the mouse or keyboard.Software systems are commonly referred to as operating systems. Being application software is software used to complete a job. Examples of application software are Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
