AbstractThe temperature dependence of direct current (dc) conductivity was studied for various samples of polyaniline-polyvinylchloride (PANI-PVC) blended films. Polyaniline was doped with different concentrations of sulfamic acid in aqueous tetrahydrofuran (THF) and the blended films were prepared by varying the amount of doped PANI relative to a fixed amount of PVC. The dc conductivity of PANI-PVC blended films was measured to determine the effect of sulfamic acid (dopant) in the temperature range (300–400K). The mechanism of conduction is explained by a two-phase model. In order to evaluate the effect of the dopant, conductivity-derived parameters such as the pre-exponential factor (σ o) and the activation energy (ΔE) were calculated. The structural changes of polyaniline-PVC blended films were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy that explores information about the suitability of the dopant in the chemical doping process.

A slim-form, open-ended coaxial probe with an outside diameter of 2.2 mm was used in this study to take local dielectric measurements in soils. The dielectric relaxation strength of bulk water, Δκw, and the DC conductivity of the saturated sample, σmix, are jointly used to characterize the spatial variability of different specimens including glass beads, sand and mica samples, and kaolinite sediments with two different fabric associations. The pore distribution along the sample depth can be inferred from the local Δκw using mixing rules. The directional feature of the interconnected pores is captured in the tortuosity, which is derived from the measured σmix and the DC conductivity of the pore fluid σpf. In kaolinite sediments, the ratio between the sediment and the pore-fluid conductivity not only reveals the spatial variability of the sediment packing but also the relative contribution of the fluid conductivity and the surface conduction to the overall sediment conductivity.

AbstractSpecimens of polymer matrix — ceramic TiO2 filler composites were prepared. The contribution of the filler content on the electrical conductivity and energy storage properties of the samples was examined. I–V and Isothermal Polarization/Depolarization Current (IPC/IDC) measurements were conducted. Dc conductivity values directly calculated from the I–V curves exhibited excellent agreement with corresponding values derived from the IPC/IDC recordings. Standard models were employed for fitting the IPC/IDC data. In specific, the short and the very long depolarization times were fitted by use of power laws of different slopes, while the intermediate depolarization times were fitted as a sum of three exponential decays. The present study reveals a strong dependence of the depolarization and polarization processes, as well as of the dc conductivity, on the filler concentration.

In this work pure polyindole and its composites with wollastonite have been prepared by using anhydrous ferric chloride (FeCl3) as an oxidizing agent. Wollastonite (CaSiO3) was prepared by sol gel method using citric acid, calcium nitrate and tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) for the synthesis of composites. Particle size of the synthesized wollastonite was 58.8 nm. Effect of wollastonite weight percentages ranging from 1-25% of the polyindole in polyindole wollastonite (PIn/CaSiO3) composites was studied. Chemical structure was elucidated for polyindole/wollastonite (PIn/CaSiO3) composites and wollastonite (CaSiO3) was done through Fourier transform infra red spectroscopy (FTIR), which revealed successful fabrication of polyindole/wollastonite (PIn/CaSiO3) composites and wollastonite (CaSiO3) particles. Scanning electron microscopic technique was used for surface morphological studies. Thermal stability of the composites was examined through thermogravimetry. Four probe method was used to measure DC-conductivity of the samples. Composites showed DC conductivity in the range, 3.71´10-7 Siemens per centimeter.
