As businesses attempt to reopen to varying degrees amid the current coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, industrial hygiene (IH) and occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) professionals have been challenged with assessing and managing the risks of COVID-19 in the workplace. In general, the available IH/OEHS tools were designed to control hazards originating in the workplace; however, attempts to tailor them specifically to the control of infectious disease outbreaks have been limited. This analysis evaluated the IH decision-making framework (Anticipate, Recognize, Evaluate, Control, and Confirm (“ARECC”)) as it relates to biological hazards, in general, and to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), specifically. Available IH/OEHS risk assessment and risk management tools (e.g. control banding and the hierarchy of controls) are important components of the ARECC framework. These conceptual models, however, were primarily developed for controlling chemical hazards and must be adapted to the unique characteristics of highly infectious and virulent pathogens, such as SARS-CoV-2. This assessment provides an overview of the key considerations for developing occupational infection control plans, selecting the best available controls, and applying other emerging tools (e.g. quantitative microbial risk assessment), with the ultimate goal of facilitating risk management decisions during the current global pandemic.

The proper use of risk assessment / risk management principles and tools can help the pipeline operator maintain the flow of pipeline integrity data and the analysis of this data by responsible parties. By the use of an algorithm (series of relationships) the rules for performing a mathematical expression of risk can be established and the attributes identified. These measures may aid in the rational, prioritization of resources and identification of improvement opportunities. Operating companies do a good job of maintaining their pipelines, but the decision as to where to allot resources in some cases may be generally a reactive measure. Advances in Pipeline Risk Management Software and Pipeline Inspection tools now allow a proactive approach to Pipeline Integrity Maintenance. This paper explains some of the risk management tools available to pipeline companies.

The main purpose of the article is to identify which components of public internal financial control (PIFC), as part of risk management, have been improved by the crisis the most at the regional level, and what is the possible reason for that. During the period 2008–2014, healthcare in the EU and consequently in Slovenia was under the pressure of aggravated circumstances. Therefore, it is important that healthcare organizations, especially regional hospitals, as a main provider of secondary healthcare, have risk management tools in place that prevent risks and provide a reasonable assurance that public funds are being used for the intended purpose. To test which components significantly improved in that period, a paired-samples t-test is performed on a sample of 10 Slovenian regional hospitals. The empirical results show that the components of risk assessment and control activities saw the greatest improvement.

Introduction and purpose of the research: The inevitable condition of management is uncertainty. Innovation activity is more risky than other areas of entrepreneurship. In the conditions of instability of the economic situation, the problem of the risk of loss when the company invests in innovations becomes especially relevant.Hypothesis of scientific research. It is assumed that the justification of enterprise risk management measures should be based on the synthesis of the economic feasibility of the method and its ability to address the risk, which will enable competent executives to choose effective risk management tools for the enterprise. The aim is to study the process of risk management in the innovation activity of the enterprise, to develop and substantiate the recommendations for the formation of the enterprise risk management mechanism taking into account the ownership form and its size.Research methods:- comparison methods to identify the weak and strong points of the classification schemes, methods of risk assessment and management;- systematization and classification to determine the characteristics (advantages, disadvantages, peculiarities of application) of methods of enterprise risk assessment, risk management methods and construction of a classification scheme of enterprise risks as the basis of the mechanism of its risk management;- decompositions in the construction of a business risk card due to the division and analysis of the totality of its business activities;- expert assessments in determining the enterprise risks for small, medium and large enterprises in the field of mechanical engineering. Results: substantiated and solved problems of implementation of the strategic approach in project risk management at the enterprise. Conclusions: the mechanism of enterprise risk management based on the system approach combines the administrative, legal and organizational components, makes it possible to identify the risks of the company in three aspects (industry characteristic, form of ownership, size), ensures the formation of a portfolio of risks of a particular enterprise and creates the principles for improving the management mechanism for them.

In this letter, the authors review briefly the concept of risk assessment in psychiatry. They provide knowledge about the use of the Hamilton Anatomy of Risk Management (HARM) and Aggressive Incidents Scale (AIS), as risk assessment and management tools. They look at the limitations and benefits of using these assessment tools in France. (article in French)

This article provides an overview of the methods used in practice to assess the risks that arise in the process of designing automated air traffic control systems. The classification of risks and possible negative consequences of risks are determined. Based on this analysis, it is concluded that in order to increase the success of the design process, risk management tools are needed, including the accumulation of risk management experience for its further use. To achieve this goal, a risk assessment model for the development of automated air traffic control systems based on explicit and implicit expertise, including an analysis of situations in which risk processing is required. With the emergence of fundamentally new automated systems, the problem of risk assessment of design as a strategic direction of automation and intellectualization of relevant processes in various fields of science and technology. Note that in this context, the concept of automated systems includes such concepts as "complex phenomena", "complex technological processes", "complex systems", including the person himself, which is considered as an element responsible for the generation, storage and use of knowledge. The peculiarity of modern automated systems is that they operate in conditions given, as a rule, by a finite set of quantitative and non-quantitative (verbal) variables and corresponding constraints. At the same time, many risk assessment tasks are formed and described both verbally in the professional language of this field of knowledge, and formally using different classes of models. The proposed method of risk assessment of the development of ACS by air traffic is based on production rules, which provides the opportunity to accumulate and use the experience of overcoming the risks of the project, and thus increases the success of the project.
