Nowadays, delays problem are important issue in preparing schedule for public transportation. It is related to behaviour of passengers, behaviour of transportation means and interaction with traffic. Behaviour of passengers are including: demand patterns of passengers, fare payment and waiting time in station and in-vehicle. Behaviour of transportation means included fleet size and frequency of operation. The most interaction between public transportation and others traffic is in traffic congestion. In this paper, we studies different behaviour of passengers duration operation time in two points: in-station and in-vehicle. They are including: arrival rate of passengers, kinds of fare payment and waiting time. For illustrate behaviour of passengers on delays problem we survey they affects in bus operation. Hence, a case study based on an actual public bus operation in Tehran, Iran is used to demonstrate it.

This paper assesses the operational data of a public transportation system, using the Bus Rapid Transit in Lagos State as a case study. Demographic data was collected through the administration of questionnaires to the commuters; this was carried out to observe variations in the population of the commuters from different perspectives. Some other categories of data were collected which include boarding and alighting, headway, arrival rate of commuters, waiting time of commuters and travel time data. These data were presented and analysed with MS Excel and Minitab statistical softwares. Results from the boarding and alighting data showed bus stops with high flux of commuters, these were at Ojota, Ketu, Mile 12, Costain, CMS and TBS. Probability distribution charts were prepared to analyze the remaining sets of data. This was carried out to study the distribution and consistency of the data. Coefficients of variation for the data were also estimated to study the variability of the data. From the study, the data followed normal distribution and they were consistent such that they can be used for further analysis of the system. It can be concluded that the distribution depicts the real situation at the study location. Thus, bus stops with high density of commuters should be provided with more buses so as to reduce the waiting time of commuters.

Density and population of bogor that keeps increasing will add the duty of government to provide more public means of mass. Transportation is a vital public facility. Public transport available in Bogor is a city transportation (public transportation) and buses. The existence of a number of public transportation totaling 3,412 units and 30 units of bus has been able to serve the needs of the community in transportation, but in terms of efficiency and comfort are still far from expected. Based on the results of Stated Preference regression models, we concluded that the most efficient mass transportation is city buses, and the most variable priority attribute passengers on a city bus is the bus occupancy, the bus waiting time efficiency, got a seat, bus convenience and cost/ bus rates. So the recommendation that we can give, the problem due to public transport in bogor can be solved by the means of mass transportation such as city buses. This study is an attempt to optimize the timetable synchronously for regional public transit. Based on the re-interpretation of transfer time in public transportation, a transfer model of bus timetabling is established, which has the objective to minimize the total waiting time of transfer passengers at the transfer station, and it is found as a linear integer model through analysing the established model. Thus, to solve the model, the LINGO software is applied and the corresponding program is designed. Finally, the model is tested against the field data, taking some bus lines in one city as example, using the solution software. The results indicate that the proposed model is reasonable, the timetable is improved, and the solution software program is effective as well.

Yogyakarta, one of the middle cities in Indonesia, has been developing BRT system named Trans Jogja to reduce growth of motorization. However, the performance tends to decrease year by year, therefore the system and management upgrading must be carried out continuously to restore public trust. This research tries to investigate public satisfaction, their expectation, and some attributes considered important based on public’s perspective using IPA method that can be used as useful information systems to evaluate service quality by prioritizing or focusing on areas where improvement is needed. The results reveal that decision maker must focus and allocate their resources to improve Trans Jogja system on the following attributes: a) keep punctuality, b) shorten waiting time in the bus stop, c) improve bus comfort, d) provide safety for child passenger, e) improve bus stop comfort, f) create new bus route to enlarge accessibility, and g) shorten bus travel time.

AbstractThe objective of this work is to analyze the current situation of public transportation in major cities of metropolitan Cariri - EC. The research focus is characterized by being a case study, whose object of study is the Urban Public Transportation in the main cities of metropolitan Cariri - RMC. The research has a qualitative exploratory-descriptive and key methodological procedures used were literature review and field visits. It was noted that there are many problems faced by users of public transport in the cities of the study, such as overcrowding of vehicles, scrapping of vehicles; noncompliance schedules, low supply lines, and the waiting time for vehicles. It is noticed that there is a need for implementation in the municipalities of the MRC, an efficient public transportation system that meets the needs of the population with regard to comfort, safety, routes and minimizing environmental impacts. KeywordsTransportation. Determining the best timetable for vehicles in a public transportation (PT) network is a complex problem, especially because it is just necessary to consider the requirements and satisfaction of passengers as the requirements of transportation companies. In this paper, a model of the PT timetabling problem which takes into consideration the passenger waiting time (PWT) at a station and the vehicle occupancy ratio (VOR) is proposed. The solution aims to minimize PWT and maximize VOR. Due to the large search space of the problem, we use a multiobjective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) algorithm to arrive at the solution of the problem. The results of the proposed method are compared with similar results from the existing literature.
