Students are the receiver and the teachers are the providers of information at a classroom. The exchange of information is conducted mainly through delivering lectures although there are several other ways to do that. Generally in a longer class duration (more than 1 hour), breaks are quite essential for the students as well as for the lecturer to get revitalized. This study aims at examining the impact of in-class breaks on revitalizing or energizing the students in order to focus on the lectures effectively. The investigation was conducted on 527 Bachelor and Master students of three universities in China and three universities in Bangladesh on a random sampling basis. Those students participated at two different classes: one with frequent short breaks and other one with two long breaks where they were being observed. The results indicate that frequent short breaks can revitalize the students more than fewer long breaks. Further, it was revealed that the Chinese students were more punctual and efficient in time management than the Bangladeshi students. The author hopes that this study will be inductive to the university lecturers as well as educational policymakers for putting more motivational focus for students in order to make the lectures enjoyable and effective.

Most of the university undergraduate students are having very good academic results at their secondary school education. However, when they enter to the university, very little amount of students pay more attention compared with their previous studies, very limited number of students continue their studies as previously. Majority of the students pay less attention compared with their Advance level. In addition, the most serious issue is there are some students who does not pay considerable level of attention for their university studies and them very unsuccessful at the university level. Some of they cannot get at least general pass at the desired time. Another important factor is majority of them do not have clear life plan. Hence, the major outcome of this study is to develop a conceptual model to test the importance of having proper self-management practices and time management practices. In addition, this study has identified the importance of identify the methods of how to disseminate the knowledge of self-management and time management practices. And this study suggest for future researchers to conduct research studies on how to disseminate the knowledge and enhancing the selfmanagement competency, initially at the university level and ultimately at the national level.

Frequency, percentage, mean, and Pearson r were used to analyse gathered data statistically. Main Findings: When the teachers give priority to the physical classroom condition, the students tend to feel relaxed and comfortable, thereby displaying a higher level of academic performance. Further, students performed better when the teachers positively reinforced their responses. Furthermore, the students’ better performance in their educational undertakings is linked with teachers’ adeptness in time management. Applications of this study: To further improve the academic performance of students, teachers may strengthen the teaching-learning process through the following provisions: inspiring classroom setups, classroom enhancement programs (peer teaching, remedial and tutorial programs), appropriate educative measures and proper allocation of time. The “Open IT” research project is being carried out in the scope of the federal state “Aufstieg durch Bildung: offene Hochschulen” initiative (“Advancement through education: open universities”) in which credit transfer programmes are being designed for IT practitioners in Germany. In this process, research is being carried out into the development, implementation and use of methods to support self-study, which will be prepared for transfer to teaching. The use of a self-study roadmap for students and lecturers has been developed in the course of this research. This self-study roadmap supports students’ time management and the balance of study, work and family.Following the numerous evaluation steps involved in the creation of the self-study roadmap, the roadmap has been formally implemented and developed within the research project. The benefits, use and challenges of this learning tool are analysed and reflected upon in this paper in the context of education management. A strategic point of view has been chosen so that the tool can be examined on a meta level. The relevant perspective of the university, lecturers and students has been adopted so that an all-encompassing view can be guaranteed at strategic level.

ABSTRACTIf we consider success to be the ability of an individual to define their life’s purpose, develop their cognitive, emotional, physical potential and to instill values in others (Amaya and Prado, 2002), then it is of great importance to identify the factors that aid an individual in an academic setting. According to Melavé (2001), students who are academically successful are highly motivated, have a positive attitude towards their chosen career and have good study habits, all of which may be related to the school performance, defined by Pérez, Ramón and Sánchez (2000) as the sum of different and complex factors of the learner, measured by test scores with a quantitative assessment, whose results indicate a passed or failed course, attrition and level of academic success. With the purpose of identifying and improving factors that contribute to academic success, as well as implementing strategies in order for students to successfully complete their degree, a qualitative research study was conducted through in-depth interviews with four students in the 2010-2014 class, whom had above average school performance in their major. Each one came from a different area of training: health sciences, engineering, humanities and economic-administrative affairs. A categorical analysis was performed out on the interviews with the software MAXqda. Contacto principal: [email protected]
