"The commercial developments lining the coasts of the Arabian Peninsula that have emerged within the past decade have various implications for the environment, economy, and society as a whole. In particular, this paper is interested in the relationship between residents’ perceptions of the coastal landscapes that are being created and the effects of such extensive developments, including their demands on water. Less than 50 years ago, this arid region consisted of a few tribes who collected water from nearby wells and springs. After the rise of the oil industry in the 1970s, however, the United Arab Emirates’ growing population and burgeoning economy introduced desalination plants to sustain the people and irrigate lush landscapes, which require significant amounts of energy and infrastructure. Located in Ras Al Khaimah, Al Jazeera Al Hamra is one of the only full standing abandoned villages in the Gulf region and carries a rich history and once critical coastal location. This paper will profile the village as a prototype for coastal developments in arid environments. Inspired by the traditional practices of the region’s inhabitants, this paper introduces a design model that integrates several factors. These include the types of visual references represented in the Gulf region, people’s contemporary lifestyles, water saving techniques, and the effects of these proposals on the surrounding environment."

The land of PT. Hide Way Resort area 1.5 ha located in Ngawas village, Pasuruan district, the Province of East Java as at the moment is empty land and was planted apple, Eugenia, red pepper, carrot and pumpkin. It is located almost at the same position with Mount Bromo. This land will be used for accommodation/ 10 villas and 1 meeting room. We have to drive and reach this location and can see the apple and vegetable garden on mountain also very nice scenery we can see during passing this location. Also, we can see the natural village condition and warmest welcome from the people around the village. We can see very nice view after reaching the place by mountain view and hill view in cold temperature. Land and hill view on the area make more convenience to stay here. This kind of location can attract the tourist especially specific tourist who always searching the specific destination since it is not many kind of destination like this. The main concept is staying in natural village with traditional villa style and look like the traditional house in the past including the furniture inside and how to cook the food by burning wood. This kind of situation also completed with daily people around the village activities, traditional art show, transportation to Mount Bromo, golf and other activities. The marketing activities will be used the relationship of the owner with his channels abroad, community of specific tourism, you tube, social media and online travel agent. This opportunity is good to be developed in the future since many inquiry for this kind of specific tourism, increase the economy level of the people around and create more working opportunity.

This article considers ways in which solidarity across social locations might play a role in fostering resistance to vulnerability. My case study consists of the interplay between writer George Ryga’s 1967 play The Ecstasy of Rita Joe, and Okanagan Syilx writer and scholar Jeannette Armstrong’s 1985 novel Slash. While these important and compelling texts have received considerable critical attention, the relationship between them is less known. I am interested in the ways in which these works both hail and offer critique to one another. In the contemporary moment, in which questions of appropriation of voice have gained renewed urgency within Indigenous literary circles in Canada and beyond, the relationship between these texts speaks to a historical instance of appropriation, but also of complicated processes of alliance-building. These texts demonstrate how agency resides across multiple locations. I read Ryga’s Ecstasy in the context of Jeannette Armstrong’s engagement with the play within her novel Slash in order to witness the ways in which Ryga’s text, in the first instance, appropriates Indigenous voices into an anti-capitalist critique. In the second instance, I read these works in order to witness how they might simultaneously provide a compelling analysis of the vulnerability of the people who are the subject of both works. I compare the interplay between Armstrong and Ryga’s texts to contemporary debates around appropriation in order to argue for the historical and ongoing importance of these two works as precursors to the crucial interventions made by contemporary Indigenous critics and writers.

The people of Yogyakarta are known for their tolerance, where people of different religions can coexist peacefully especially with Javanese traditions. But in Mangir, a village in Bantul, Yogyakarta, in November 12, 2019, there was a case of local residents rejecting the procession of ancestral prayer rituals by the Paguyuban Padma Buana (PPB) who claims to be followers of Javanese Hinduism. This study aimed at disclosing the elements and roots of conflict from the Mangir community's rejection towards Paguyuban Padma Buana. As a case study, it used conflict analysis approach through timeline and factor analysis techniques. The results showed that the open conflict between the two groups has occurred since 2012 with the main issue of syncretic ritual practices of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Kejawen (Javanism) that involve people from various religions. In addition, the Maha Lingga Padma Buana Temple as a place of whorship and rituals has also the license problems. Reconciliation was carried out between residents with the Padma Buana followers in 2015. Unfortunately it was violated by the Paguyuban Padma Buana and became a trigger of conflict back in 2019. The cause of this conflict is multiple factors, all of which are interrelated. However, the root cause of the problem among Mangir people is mostly related to traditional revivalism and the distribution of cultural tourism management authorities. This paper presents a case study of the village of Mrkovi in the Bay of Kotor, Montenegro, showing the importance of landscape identification and assessment in planning the revitalization and development of Mediterranean rural settlements. The research revealed the methods of identification and evaluation of different landscape types. Moreover, it showed how such an approach could considerably contribute to the preservation of the space’s identity and quality by taking into account the existing characteristics of the space or the relationship between cultural and natural heritage. The identification of the landscape types was followed by the evaluation of individual elements and assessment of vulnerability in relation to the space’s natural, cultural, and visual quality. The first step in the process of preserving the elements that contribute to the landscape’s identity was the spatial identification of the cultural pattern of traditional terraces with drystone walls. The results of analysis indicate a high risk of degradation of the basic landscape value. The effects of future interventions in the space, especially the planned construction of a tourist resort, can be mitigated if they comply with the guidelines related to the rational use of the space and delimitation of the construction zones. This paper points out the importance of a responsible attitude and planned approach regarding the cultural and natural landscape of Mediterranean rural settlements.

"As with many historical sites in the Gulf region, urban regeneration of the Old Town District of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), United Arab Emirates (UAE) presents a challenge in maintaining the balance between preservation and refurbishment. This policy paper aims to highlight and convey the significance of the Old Town District as a historical and cultural site to policy makers in the emirate. In doing so, it outlines the District’s potential for becoming an agent for the development of RAK through an urban regeneration project. The paper begins with a brief historical overview of RAK and the urban development of the Old Town District. It then goes on to discuss the opportunities offered by the area. A description of the District’s building materials and urban morphology is also discussed. The paper concludes with a list of recommendations for the urban regeneration of Old Town. The author conducted fieldwork and collected data for this paper between 2009 and 2011 as part of two courses for her bachelors and masters degrees at the American University of Sharjah."

Purpose of the study: The rambu solo’ ceremony is a traditional death ceremony of the Tana Toraja regency with roots in local beliefs. However, over time, the tradition has become associated with social status and economic motives. These changes have led to many issues. This article analyses the motivations that drive the compromises that families must accept when selecting a form of rambu solo’. Methodology: This was a case study conducted in the village of Lemo in the regency of Tana Toraja. Primary data collected through in-depth interviews and observation. Informants consisted of cultural figures, religious figures, and indigenous locals with experience performing rambu solo’ — secondary data taken from existing literature about Toraja Regency. Main Findings: Results showed that compromises taken for motives of social status were irrational but comprised the most common reasoning behind rambu solo’ ceremony selection. For those families motivated by social status, choice of rambu solo’ ceremony form performed for one of two reasons: preserving their social status ascribed to them from birth (attributed status) Applications of this study: The selection of non-rapasanrambu solo’ ceremonies based on economic motives were rationally-sound but relatively rare. Avoiding wastefulness in the performing of rambu solo’ is done through simplifying the procession through shortening the storage period of the remains of the deceased before the rambu solo’ reducing the number of days of the rambu solo’ ceremony. Novelty/Originality of this study: This shows that irrational decision-making, in the context of traditional ceremonies, cannot be considered irrational; even irrational decisions can be justified and explained based on individual interpretations of rationality based on local culture. Interestingly, social status was the most common motive form selection based on economic motives were rational but less popular among the people sound choice theory

This study is about the changing role of traditional leaders called punyimbang in pepadun community. This research was conducted in the village of Terbanggi Besar, Terbanggi Besar District of Central Lampung regency. This research was motivated by the social and cultural changes taking place in society. The research is a qualitative research method of case study that compares difference conditions punyimbang role ago and today. The results of this study are firstly the social and cultural changes that occurred in the community so that the role punyimbang the first switch and always involved in every aspect of community life is starting at left, second, the factors that cause changes in this role is the modernization that began touching indigenous peoples pepadun village Terbanggi great so that people began to leave things that are traditional, third, these changes have an impact on the conflict in the community, due to the people lost figure punyimbang that exemplifies the good things that people are starting to do a lot of irregularities such as conflict between villages, spoliation, and the conflict between generations, fourth, related to the changing role of public response punyimbang happens is people still assume the existence punyimbang needed as long as there customary held by the public but does not bind as before.

<em>The potential of  Moringa tree related to health properties is still not fully utilized by the people in Pati. Mrs. Muryati, a resident of Kedungbulus Village, Gembong Subdistrict, Pati, was one of the residents who was moved to campaign for the use of Moringa leaves. The purpose of this study was to determine public perceptions about the potential of Moringa plants in the village of Kedungbulus Gembong Pati. This research uses survey methods which include: literature study, field observations, interviews using questionnaires, semistructure interview techniques and using random sampling techniques and purposive sampling. Random sampling sampling from the community taken randomly, while purposive sampling sampling from community leaders such as informants of production houses, village heads, shamans etc. The results obtained from the relationship between community and Moringa plants are explained from interviews with the public perception of  Moringa plants.</em>

I will present in this work the most important good human behavior value that exist in dual opposite controversial relationship that guide Ibn. Hubungan kontra dua hala yang turut merangkumi hubungan di antara pihak atasan dan bawahan, kebaikan dan kekejaman, luahan dan berdiam diri, duduk dan berkelana; menjadikan jiwa manusia terlukis dengan satu bentuk yang sama di mata pihak yang lain. This research aimed to describe the relationship between women and nature in maintaining and preserving the natural environment. The relationship was illustrated in problems 1) the existence of patriarchal power on women of Lou Dempar, which causing sexual violence in the "Fire Cloud Smoke/Api Awan Asap" novel; 2) women's intelligence due to the knowledge they had in maintaining the biodiversity of Lou Dempar in the "Fire Cloud Smoke/Api Awan Asap" novel; 3) women's intelligence in preserving the traditions of the ancestors of Lou Dempar in the "Fire Cloud Smoke/Api Awan Asap" novel. This research used descriptive qualitative research with an ecofeminism approach. There were 2 kinds of data in this research, they were primary data consisting of words, phrases and sentences quoted from the "Fire Cloud Smoke/Api Awan Asap" novel written by Korrie Layun Rampan, while the secondary data were in the form of other data obtained from the reading of journals, books, newspapers that had a relation with primary data. The research data were collected by using the documentation technique. Data analysis techniques used were identification, classification, analysis, and triangulation. The results and discussion stated that patriarchal power penetrated nature and women became the victims, but Nori appeared as a representation of a woman who had the knowledge and also thought in advancing the village by taking care of nature or biodiversity. The Lou Dempar community rose up in terms of agriculture, animal husbandry, mastery of modern technology, and marketing of agricultural products. Women's knowledge was able to preserve nature, including preserving the hereditary traditions of Lou Dempar cultural community. Vandana sHiva's ecofeminism showed the relationship between women's knowledge, protecting culture and biodiversity.
