In education, essay is considered as the best tool to evaluate student’s high order thinking and understanding. In the other hand, manual processing and grading essay answers by a teacher need much time and tending to subjectivity grading. Meanwhile automatic essay grading in e-learning system find the difficulties in comparing model or key answer to student’s answer because student’s can answer the question with so various way. That means a right answer also can be so various, for they have same semantic meaning. This paper proposed automatic essay grading using Latent Semantic Analysis. But before the texts being scored, they will be pre-processed using stop words removal and synonyms checking. Calibration process implemented for dealing with the various possible right answer and help to simplify the term matrix. Implementation of this approach using Java Programming Language and WordNet as lexical database for searching the synonyms of every given words. The accuracy obtained by this method is 54.9289%.

In all walks of life individuals are involved in a cumulative and incremental process of knowledge acquisition. This involves the accessing, processing and understanding of information which can be gained through many different forms. These include, deliberate means by picking up a book or passive by listening to someone. The content of knowledge is translated by individuals and often recorded by the skill of note-taking, which differs in method from one person to another. This article presents an investigation into the techniques to take notes including the most popular Cornell method. A comparative analysis with the Outlining and Mapping methods are carried out stating strengths and weaknesses of each in terms of simplicity, usefulness and effectiveness. The processes of developing such skills are not easy or straightforward and performance is much influenced by cognition. Therefore, such associations regarding cognitive conceptions involve the exploration into note-taking processes encoding and storage, attention and concentration, memory and other stimuli factors such as multimedia. The social changes within education from the traditional manner of study to electronic are being adapted by institutes. This change varies from computerising a sub-component of learning to simulating an entire lecture environment. This has enabled students to explore academia more conveniently however, is still arguable about its feasibility. The article discusses the underlying pedagogical principles, deriving instructions for the development of an e-learning environment. Furthermore, embarking on Tablet PC’s to replace the blackboard in combination with annotation applications is investigated. Semantic analysis into the paradigm shift in e-learning and knowledge management replacing classroom interaction presents its potential in the learning domain. The article concludes with ideas for the design and development of an electronic note-taking platform.

In the world of education, e-learning system is a system that can be used to support the educational process. E-learning system is usually used by educators to learners in evaluating learning outcomes. In the process of evaluating learning outcomes in the e-learning system, the form type of exam questions that are often used are multiple choice and short stuffing. For exam questions in the form of essays are rarely used in the evaluation process of educational because of the difference in the subjectivity and time consuming in the assessment process. In this design aims to create an automatic essay scoring feature on e-learning system that can be used to support the learning process. The method used in automatic essay scoring is Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) with n-gram feature. The evaluation results of the design features automatic essay scoring showed that the accuracy of the average achieved in the amount of 78.65 %, 58.89 %, 14.91 %, 71.37 %, 64.49 % in the LSA unigram, bigram, trigram, unigram + bigram, unigram + bigram + trigram.

The purpose of the article is to study, analyze and consider the general problems and prospects of using navigation systems in a virtual environment on mobile devices using Google Cardboard virtual reality glasses. The research methodology consists of the methods of semantic analysis of the basic concepts of a given subject area (navigation systems in virtual environments). The article discusses the existing approaches to the development of navigation systems. The novelty of the research is the solution of navigation problems in mobile applications that operate in virtual reality. Conclusions. The work analyzed the existing problems and prospects for the use of navigation systems in mobile applications that can be used in the field of education gamification. Taking into account the results of the analysis, the authors have developed a navigation system that is important for solving problems of improving the effectiveness of gamification of learning processes (especially distance, online learning, e-learning).

Recently, discovering learner behaviour has taken more attention in the field of e-learning. It aims to gain useful insights into the learning process of students despite the absence of direct interaction with teachers. In fact, the only available source of information in such environments is the log file that represents all possible interactions of learners with the e-learning system. This log file is characterised by the presence of noise, incomplete information, and a huge amount of data. In this article, a new approach based on learner trails analysis from the log file is proposed. It aims to discover the patterns of the real behaviour of learners and to determine their pedagogic orientations. The latent semantic analysis (LSA) method is used to extract the relationship between learners who have the same behaviour and to overcome the noise problem. The proposed approach has been validated using synthetic and genuine log files. The obtained results show the efficiency of the proposed method of discovering the behaviours of learners.

The Current scenario of the educational system is highly utilizing computer-based technology. For the Teaching-Learning process, both the learners and teachers are highly preferred the online system i.e, E-Learning because of its user-friendly approach such as learning at anytime and anywhere. In the Online educational system, the E-Content plays a major role so the critical importance has to be provided in generating the E-Content. Currently, a large number of study materials are dumped into the internet which has reached the highest limit. The enormous amount of content with high volume leads the learner to skim or frustration in learning. Learners have to spend too much of time to understand their concept from the selected web page. The Tutor also faces the challenges in setting the question paper from this high volume of learning content. We have proposed the computer-assisted system to summarize the learning content of the material using Machine Learning techniques. The Latent Semantic Analysis reduces the size of the content without changing their originality. Finally, the singular value decomposition is used to select the important sentences in order to generate the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) to assess the knowledge level of the learner
