A virtual learning tool that allows users to explore and learn the basic principle of warehousing operations using an avatar is described in this chapter. Several steps are utilized during the conception and the design phase of the application to ensure a well-built quality system. An analysis of a commonly used Lean Six Sigma principle such as the Plan-Do-Check-Act is presented to show its impacts on the conception and design of the virtual warehousing operation environments. Also, other lean principles are infused in the design of the system to ensure its user-friendliness through the use of regular tasks in an online learning environment. The use of the Plan-Do-Check-Act in the design process ensures an increased efficiency, improved quality, and better experience to potential users of the simulated warehousing operations.

Current reverse engineering approach is an effective way for technology progress of developing countries. Based on analysis of existing reverse engineering technology, a new concept of Product Reverse Engineering (PRE) is proposed and its theoretical framework is discussed first in this paper in order to extend its application from components to the overall product structure and design process. Then a brief introduction is made to the technical system architecture and key techniques for PRE, which include the rapid solid modeling, integrating with existing CAD systems through STEP file, assembly modeling for conceptual structure, and reverse design process reconstruction. Finally, a prototype system PRE-DARFAD is developed with initial verification by a fixture design example.

The idea of Automatic Reverse Engineering was brought forward, which reduced the requirements of modeling experience, constructed surface more efficient and especially got a more accuracy model. Its main idea was converting triangular meshes which could be easily got automatically and could express arbitrarily complex models into quadrilateral meshes.The concept of reverse engineering, reverse design process and reverse analysis were introduced in this paper, which has been used in teaching practice of mechanical design specialized curriculum, the students will be guided to apply the automatic method of reverse design to the innovation design of product by motorcycle as an example.
