The development of inflammatory diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva, as well as the occurrence of infectious complications of intraocular surgery, are largely associated with the presence of saprophytic and pathogenic microflora in the conjunctival cavity. This circumstance is more characteristic of children. At the same time, the possibilities of antibacterial therapy of inflammatory eye diseases of bacterial and chlamydial etiology, as well as perioperative prophylaxis of infectious complications of intraocular surgical procedures in children, have significantly expanded today. The widespread use of fluoroquinolones has significantly improved the treatment of children with acute and chronic bacterial conjunctivitis, keratitis, blepharitis, meibomyitis, chalazion, as well as those with chronic conjunctivitis of chlamydial etiology. At the same time, levofloxacin fluoroquinolone of the 3rd generation, which is used in our country in the form of a 0.5% solution as eye drops Oftaquix (Santen, Finland), has demonstrated high efficacy for this purpose. The widespread introduction of the original 0.5% levofloxacin (Oftaquix), in the treatment regimen for children with inflammatory diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva, as well as for a perioperative prevention of infectious complications of surgical procedures involving them, is a promising way to solve the problem.

Introduction. Antiseptic drugs currently occupy an important place in the treatment and prevention of ocular infectious and inflammatory diseases. Often microorganisms are characterized not only by resistance to a single antibiotic, but also by the presence of multiple resistances, which limits the choice of an effective drug. This problem requires a detailed study and monitoring of the sensitivity of the main pathogens of ocular infections, not only to antibiotics but also to antiseptics. The aim was to study the species composition of conjunctival microflora in patients with ocular surface infection and to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of antiseptic eye drops. Materials and methods. Investigation was carried out in 20122018 in 4237 bacterial conjunctivitis patients. The sensitivity to antiseptic preparations of pathogens isolated from patients with conjunctivitis was detected. Results. 1068 strains of microorganisms isolated from the conjunctival cavity of patients were tested. Gram-positive cocci dominated among clinically significant pathogens 47.4%. Antimicrobial activity of Vitabact eye drops against gram-positive cocci was higher than that of antiseptic Okomistin. Summary. Antimicrobial activity of the studied antiseptics against gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens was different. It is necessary to conduct further research on the antimicrobial activity of antiseptic eye drops.

The fight against staphylococcal infection, increasing the effectiveness of methods of prevention and treatment of diseases of staphylococcal etiology is of interest to scientists and practitioners, both in Ukraine and around the world. The urgency of this problem is growing rapidly, as there is a tendency to increase the resistance of not only staphylococci, but also other gram-positive bacteria. The spread of methicillin-resistant staphylococci restricts the choice of antibiotics for the treatment of diseases of staphylococcal etiology. Staphylococcus aureus is the most common and dangerous type, which is one of the main factors of purulent-inflammatory lesions of the skin and mucous membranes. As a result of mutations, pathogenic staphylococci acquired resistance to antibacterial drugs. The main disadvantage of modern antibiotics is their non-selectivity. As a result of mutations, pathogenic staphylococci acquired resistance to antibacterial drugs. The main disadvantage of modern antibiotics is their non-selectivity. One of the unique and promising medicinal plants, which contains a rich complex of biologically active substances (BAS), is common hops (Humulus lupulus L.). The complex of BAS (flavonoids, hormones, vitamins, bitter, phenolic compounds, essential oils) causes anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, hyposensitizing and analgesic action of hops. The purpose of this work is to determine the antistaphylococcal activity of the carbon dioxide extract of hops and to justify the development on its basis of new antimicrobial agents for the prevention and treatment of infectious and purulent-inflammatory diseases. The following methods were used: microbiological (method of diffusion into agar (well method)) and mathematical and statistical. The high antimicrobial activity of the carbon dioxide extract of hops has been established for museum test strains of the genus Staphylococcus. The results of the studies testify to the prospects of further study of the bactericidal properties of the extract of hops carbon dioxide with the aim of creating effective antimicrobial agents on its basis for the prevention and treatment of infectious and purulent-inflammatory diseases of staphylococcal etiology.

The problem of studying the prеvalencе of allergic diseases of the eye and the search for new approaches and effective means to correct this condition does not lose its relevance. The presented data on the state of profound biochemical studies of the tear film in allergic conditions justify the expediency of the use of eye drops of a new generation. As a result of experimental studies on the effect on the lipid layer ectoine was discovered the mechanism of its therapeutic action. This paper presents compelling evidence that new eye drops based on natural molecules ectoine which are able to restore and maintain the functional state of the lipid layer of the tear film in the pharmacotherapy of аllergic diseases of anterior surface of the eye. The analyzes of multiple experimental data revealed the clear evidence of mechanisms of action on the eye and the first clinical experience with a new pharmacological agent testifies to its strong anti-inflammatory and regenerative effect due to the stabilization of the lipid layer of the tear film and the protection of the front surface of the eye tissue from the hyperosmolarity. It was confirmed by the subjective and objective reducing eye irritation and dryness in reducing itching and burning from the conjunctiva, to improve the moisture level of the surface of the eye, to reduce discomfort of the eyes. The drug can be used in children older than 2 years and adults, when wearing contact lenses, ophthalmic surgery and after an eye injury. Based on this, it can be conclude that the appearance in the arsenal of new-generation antiallergic eye drops (EYE-t) with sufficient efficacy and safety profile can be regarded as a promising alternative approach to the treatment of allergic and inflammatory eye diseases.

According to WHO, the respiratory system diseases are currently inside the ten most common pathologies. The modern strategy for treating influenza and ARVI gives priority to the antiviral and immunostimulating agents, but the symptomatic drugs, which include preparations based on silver and its compounds, also play an important role. The large positive experience in using silver preparations supported by numerous clinical studies shows their high efficacy and satisfactory safety profile in the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the nose and upper respiratory tract in children and adults.

Inflammatory eye diseases are one of the most important problems of ophthalmology. They can be caused by various pathogens of the infection, which is still more often bacterial. Therapy of bacterial inflammatory diseases of the eye involves the use of antibacterial drugs (sulfonamides, antiseptics, nitrofurans, etc.), among which antibiotics are of primary importance. Of this group of drugs, in this review article, special attention is paid to quinolones, mainly synthetic fluoroquinolones, which are distinguished by a wide range of bactericidal action, fairly high efficiency, low level of resistance of microorganisms to it and the frequency of side effects, as well as good tolerability by patients, i.e. they best meet the requirements for modern topical antimicrobial agents. In certain clinical situations and indications, it is advisable to use ophthalmic antiseptics and combined preparations containing several antibiotics of different effects at once, or an antibiotic and a corticosteroid. Key words: infectious and inflammatory eye diseases, antibacterial agents, antibiotics, combined preparations, antiseptics.

The aim of the work was to study the clinical effectiveness of the combined treatment of keratitis and keratoconjunctivitis of bacterial etiology with the combined use of ocomistin eye drops and oftocipro ointment. These drugs were used in complex therapy in 12 patients in the treatment of this ophthalmopathology, which was caused corneal microtrauma after ingestion of foreign bodies or wearing contact lenses. At the same time, in most cases, microflora in the form of staphylococci was detected. Observations of the effectiveness of such a combined treatment for infectious and bacterial lesions of the eye anterior segment showed good tolerability and high (in 11 patients, in 91.7% of cases) clinical effectiveness of this therapy. Key words: bacterial keratitis and keratoconjunctivitis, treatment, antiseptic-okomistin, antibiotic-ciprofloxacin ointment.
