The aim of the study is to consider and show the possibilities of methods for surgery of skull base tumors using the example of successful surgical treatment of a patient with widespread trigeminal neuroma located in the posterior, middle and temporal fossae, as well as to analyze international scientific experience on this issue. Materials and methods. In February 2020, a 60-year-old patient with widespread trigeminal neuroma on the left was admitted to the Federal Scientific-Clinical Center of FMBA of Russia in February 2020. After additional examination and preoperative preparation, a planned operation was performed - osteoplastic orbitozygomatic trepanation of the skull, microsurgical removal of the tumor through subtemporal transcavernous access. A good postoperative clinical result was obtained. An analysis of the available scientific literature on this problem is carried out. Results. In the postoperative period, pain and neurological symptoms, hemifacial spasm completely regressed. 1.5 months after the operation, the tumor was totally removed in the control images. In the course of the analysis of available foreign and domestic literature, 65 observations of trigeminal tumors with extracranial growth were found, the total removal of which was performed only in 20% of patients. Conclusion. Despite the extreme complexity of the pathology, the operation through the orbitozygomatic subtemporal transcavernous access allows you to completely remove the common and giant trigeminal neuromas with a good functional result.

For the first time in the domestic literature, the article presents a clinical observation of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) associated with COVID-19 in the 6-year-old patient with manifestation of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) in the form of diabetic ketoacidosis. Anamnestic, clinical and laboratory data are presented on the basis of which two life-threatening diseases was diagnosed, as well as tactics of therapy, which made it possible to achieve a positive result. This clinical observation is compared with observations of foreign colleagues. Possible pathogenetic mechanisms of MIS-C and T1DM comorbidity are discussed.

The distally based sural flap often poses the problem of venous suffering that can lead to necrosis. We present a reconstruction of a loss of substance of the ankle in a 6 years old child, using a distal pedicle sural flap, made reliable by a racket like flap method, which reduces the risk of vascular complications and led to good integration of the flap, with a good functional result. Nevertheless, the aesthetic sequelae remain significant.

ABSTRACT Objective: To identify the available evidence in the scientific literature about the strategies or interventions used to promote hope in people with chronic diseases. Method: An integrative literature review of literature published between 2009-2019, which was conducted in online browsers/databases: b-On, EBSCO, PubMed, Medline, ISI, SciELO, PsycINFO, Google Scholar. Forty-one studies were found, of which eight met the inclusion criteria. Results: Most studies used a quantitative approach. There was a predominance of studies from Asia and America, addressing patients with multiple sclerosis, diabetes, congestive heart failure, and cancer. Hope-based interventions were categorized by the hope attributes: experiential process, spiritual/transcendence process, rational thought process, and relational process. Conclusion: Hope-based interventions, in its essence, are good clinical practices in the physical, psychological, social and spiritual domains. This is congruent with the vision of nursing, first proposed by Florence Nightingale. There seem to be gaps in the literature regarding specific hope promoting interventions.

Islam allows restricted polygyny with four wives simultaneously hitherto the common unrestricted practices among the Arabs before the appointment of the Messenger of Allah in their midst. Having an unlimited number of wives was not peculiar to the Arab culture alone, many nations in Africa are known to uphold the same practice. However, on the contact with Islam, every Muslim is required not to have more than four wives, simultaneously. The non-Muslim husband of more than four wives would be legally required to reduce the number of his wives to four upon his conversion to Islam. However, in Africa and in Nigeria in particular, some Muslims exceed the stipulated number and seek justification from the verse 20th of Suratu’n- Nisā and tag the practice as wahare and ‘Istibdāl. Other advocates of the practice twist the interpretation of the particular verse (Q4:3) regarding the permissibility of polygyny in support of the said practice. In view of this background, this paper aims to find out if there are correlations between the practice of wahare and ‘Istibdāl and the verse in question. Interviews, observations and review of literature were implored in this study. It was identified that the two different approaches to the practice of wahare /’Istibdāl are not supported by the verse 20th of Suratu’n- Nisā.

Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva is a rare disorder characterized by the progressive development of heterotopic bone in the connective tissues of skeletal muscle, ligaments and tendons. Surgical trauma is one of the most potent stimuli for ossification and surgical treatment is generally considered to be contraindicated in this condition. We report a good functional result in a patient with severe hand disability secondary to an ulna-carpal bar in fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva.

Objective: To review scientific literature concerning the prevalence, childhood outcome and adult outcome of child sexual abuse, and the hypothetical models that have been postulated to explain its psychopathology. Method: Selective critical review of literature. Results: Estimates of prevalence of sexual abuse suggest that a significant number of children of both sexes are affected. Research into the psychopathology of sexual abuse is hindered by methodological problems. However, sexual abuse has been associated with a number of psychiatric disorders and maladaptive lifestyles in childhood and adulthood. Several theoretical models of the psychopathology of child sexual abuse are examined and compared. Conclusions: A transactional model is the most comprehensive and encompassing.

The common snowy tree cricket (Occanthus niveus) of North America has made a prominent name for itself in American scientific literature. In fact none of our crickets have been so much discussed as this interesting pearly winged insect. There is something in its solemn, rhythmic, time-marking chirping that commands attention, so that all become impressed with its rhythmic music.
