The child's hospitalization is always associated with distress to child and his parents, because of unfamiliar environment. Although the child is in the center of the care, parents are encouraged to stay with their child at hospital. To achieve successful co-operation between parents and health care practitioners it is necessary to identify child`s and also their parent`s needs. Parental satisfaction with provided care depends on the quality of cooperation, which is an important indicator of the quality of the care. Aim of the study was to determine parental needs and level of their satisfaction during child hospitalization in one of the inpatient health care institutions in Latvia. Research results showed most important and less important parental needs and their level of satisfaction as well as implications were developed for further research

Background: The purpose of this descriptive phenomenological study was to gain an in-depth understanding of cancer patients’ experiences and perspectives on self-reporting their symptoms. Patients with cancer experience a wide variety of symptoms from both their disease and treatment, yet clinicians are often unaware of their patients’ symptoms due to poor reporting methods. Poorly documented symptoms are more likely to go untreated, causing increased symptom distress and decreased quality of life for patients. Effective, real-time communication between patients and health-care practitioners is key to symptom assessment and management. Moreover, it is important for patients’ communication preferences to be taken into account when developing symptom management plans. Methods: This qualitative study focused on the symptom reporting experiences of 13 adults in the United States with advanced or metastatic cancer who were undergoing systemic cancer treatment. Data were collected via interviews. Results: The findings revealed that a personalized symptom management plan, prompt reporting, and timely communication with health-care practitioners improved patients’ physical and emotional wellbeing. Conclusions: A better understanding of cancer patients’ experiences self-reporting their symptoms may lead to improved communication methods and more effective reporting systems, which ultimately reduce patient burden and enhance patients’ self-advocacy. Ensuring that patients’ preferences for reporting their symptoms are met may positively influence the likelihood and timeliness of symptom self-reporting. Developing new and improved ways for health-care teams to manage symptoms is vital to improving patients’ quality of life.

Background: The quality of medical services for a child and their parents are tantamount to a sense of satisfaction with care. Purpose: The assessment of determinants of parental satisfaction with nursing care in paediatric wards. Methods: The study covered 336 parents of children hospitalised in paediatric departments and was based on the “EMPHATIC” questionnaire, standardized and adapted to Polish conditions. Results: The mean score of the overall parental satisfaction was high, amounting to 4.19 points. The lower level of satisfaction with nursing care was reported in parents of children under the age of 6 years, admitted in an emergency mode with a diagnosed post-trauma condition and those with higher education. The duration of hospitalisation, sex and age of parents did not have an influence on the satisfaction with care. Conclusions: The age of the child, admission mode and education of respondents are determinants of parental satisfaction with nursing care.

Background: The quality of care perceived by the users of health care services is an important indicator of the quality of care. The aim of this study was to assess the satisfaction of patients received in obstetric and gynecological emergencies department of Yalgado Ouedraogo Teaching Hospital before and after the introduction of free care.Methods: This was a cross-sectional investigation. Data collection was carried out from February to July 2016, covering the last three months before the start of free care and the first three months of implementation of this free policy in Burkina Faso.Results: A total of 620 patients formed the sample. The reception (p=0.0001), the waiting period (p=0.0001), respect for treatment schedules (p=0.0001), respect for intimacy (p=0.0001), communication between providers and patients (p=0.007), the comfort of the delivery room (p=0.003) and the comfort of the ward room (p=0.002) were more favorably appreciated by patients before the free treatment than during that period. Overall patient satisfaction was better before the effectiveness of free care (p=0.003).Conclusions: The realization of free care process was followed by a lower patient’s satisfaction reflecting an alteration in the quality of health care services. A situational analysis of this free health care process is necessary in order to make corrective measures. Also adequate preventive measures should be adopted before any implementation to a larger scale of this free policy.

Objectives. To evaluate if the quality of services provided by family physicians and obstetricians/gynecologists at primary personal health care institutions of Kaunas city and access to it meet the needs and expectations of pregnant women. Material and methods. Pregnant women visiting the selected health care institutions at their third trimester of pregnancy were asked to fill in the anonymous questionnaire. The study was conducted at two randomly selected maternity centers of Kaunas city and two family practices of Kaunas city where antenatal care was provided by family physicians. The questionnaires were given to 106 patients visiting family physicians (response rate was 88.7%) and to 202 patients visiting obstetricians/ gynecologists (response rate was 81.7%). Results. Health services provided by family physicians and obstetricians/gynecologists met the expectations of pregnant women in respect of providing with information and communication. The patients of obstetricians/gynecologists significantly more often stated that they were very satisfied with patient-physician communication (P<0.05), they significantly more often understood explanations given by the physician (P<0.001) and claimed having sufficient knowledge about pregnancy (P<0.05), while the patients of family physicians significantly more often asserted that the physician helped them in preparation for childbirth (P<0.05). The patients of obstetricians/gynecologists significantly more often did not face any problems with access to services as compared to the patients of family physicians (z=3.0). Most of pregnant women stated that they were satisfied or very satisfied with the quality of health care at the health care facility providing them with antenatal care irrespective of the physician’s specialty. Conclusions. The quality of antenatal health care provided by both family physicians and obstetricians/gynecologists and access to it satisfied the needs and expectations of the surveyed women. Correction of the limitations noticed, e.g., closer communication, more understandable explanations, more attention to preparation for childbirth, better work planning, could improve the quality of antenatal care provided by the family physicians.

This paper presents the results of a survey about technovigilance carried out in 21 clinical institutions from the southwest of Colombia. It also provides an analysis of how these programs take into account different risk management methodologies in order to create awareness of the importance of patient safety in all members of the staff and improve the quality of the health services provided.

ABSTRACTPatient satisfaction is an important indicator for pharmaceutical services and has a close relationship with service quality. A good quality of services will provide satisfaction to patient so that it affects to return the Health Center. The purpose of this study was to determine the satisfaction of outpatients with the quality of pharmaceutical services at the Tanawangko Health Center. This research is a descriptive study and the data collection tool used is the questionnaire given to 277 respondents. Based on the research results obtained, it is known that each question on the 5 dimensions has a negative value with an average value (-0.38) this value is obtained from the average value of the total service quality index between expectations and reality, meaning the patient is not satisfied. The reality received is lower yhan expectations.Keywords :  Level of satisfaction, expectations, reality. ABSTRAK Kepuasan pasien merupakan indikator penting bagi pelayanan kefarmasian dan memiliki hubungan erat dengan kualitas pelayanan. Kualitas pelayanan yang baik akan memberikan kepuasan kepada pasien sehingga mempengaruhi pasien untuk kembali lagi ke Puskesmas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kepuasan pasien rawat jalan terhadap mutu pelayanan kefarmasian di Puskesmas Tanawangko. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dan alat pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu kuesioner diberikan kepada 277 responden. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh, diketahui bahwa setiap pertanyaan pada 5 dimensi memiliki nilai negatif dengan nilai rata-rata (-0,38) nilai ini diperoleh dari rata-rata nilai indeks total kualitas pelayanan antara harapan dan kenyataan, artinya pasien tidak puas. Kenyataan yang diterima lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan harapan.Kata Kunci  : Tingkat kepuasan, harapan, kenyataan.

The aim: to study the state, problems and ways of improving the organization of cardialogical care for the rural population in Ukraine based on the materials of a sociological survey of cardiologists. Material and methods The sociological research was carried out according to a specially developed program and covered 352 cardiologists from all regions of Ukraine. Results The main directions for improving the organization of cardialogical care, according to cardiologists opinion, are to increase funding for health care institutions (91,5±1,5%), increase wages (87,2±1,8%), introduce social medical insurance (81,8±2,1%) and mechanisms for economic motivation of personnel (89,8±1,6%); equipping health care institutions with modern medical and diagnostic equipment (73,9±2,3%); improving the quality of postgraduate training of cardiologists (78,2±1,9%); introduction of a health care qua-lity monitoring system (66,9±4,9%); an increase in the economic and legal independence of health care institutions (78,1±2,2); introduction of public-private partnership mechanisms with preservation of health care institutions in state ownership (79,3±2,2%). Conclusions The sociological study found that the main parameters of the organization of cardialogical care for the rural population of Ukraine do not correspond to the economic realities of the time and require modernization.

A full understanding of and a competent approach to dying patients may lead to a more qu-alitative service delivery, an enhanced quality of life paradigms, and the patients’ well-being, all of which remain the ultimate goal of health care practice. The modern world has developed in parallel with secularism and religious diversity. This paper aims to illustrate the secularization process in Britain (with indications of generalized meanings) and juxtaposes it with a descrip-tion of the needs of dying patients regarding the meanings of religion and non-religion. Altho-ugh this paper draws on and provides a review of selected theoretical literature, it also addres-ses a signifi cant challenge: the lack of scientifi c research on the subject. Hence, this paper aims to give an overview of the issues, but not synthesise them. The arguments that are elaborated in the paper are also supported by the author’s current research project in the city of London. The approach here is client oriented, and concerns social and health care. Practitioners ought to become competent, and maintain their competence throughout their professional career. Religious competence seems to have not been at the centre of discussions, regardless of the historical pathway that religious discourse has drawn since the beginnings of huma-nity. The paper concludes with certain suggestions for future research and inclusive appro-aches regarding religious matters.

Abstract Background: With the global aging problem is becoming increasingly severe, the elderly care has become an important issue that needs attention. Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of medical and health care institutions, and is committed to improving the comprehensive quality of elderly rehabilitation nursing staff in medical and health care institutions.Methods: From June to September 2019, a cross-sectional study among 193 elderly rehabilitation nursing staff was conducted in Liaoning Province, China. Using a self-designed questionnaire, the comprehensive quality of elderly rehabilitation nursing staff in medical and health care institutions was investigated by face to face. The multiple linear regression model was explored to analyze the influencing factors. Results: A total of 193 questionnaires were distributed, and 189 (97.93%) valid questionnaires were recovered. Age was from 19 to 65 years old, with an average age of (38.34 ± 9.76) years old. Bachelor degree or above accounted for 54.00%. 57.10% have engaged in elderly rehabilitation nursing for more than one year. There were 163 nurses with qualification certificates, accounting for 86.20%. The total score of comprehensive quality was 118.52 ± 22.90. The total Cronbach ' s α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.967, and the content validity index was 0.991. Only 61 (32.30%) elderly rehabilitation nurses received professional training in elderly rehabilitation nursing. The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that the educational level of elderly rehabilitation nursing staff (P=0.002) and the number of years engaged in elderly rehabilitation nursing (P=0.005) were the main influencing factors of comprehensive quality.Conclusions: The comprehensive quality of elderly rehabilitation nursing staff is at a medium level in Liaoning Province's medical and health care institutions. However, the professional nursing talents was very short, and the education level and years of experience in elderly care were the main influencing factors of the comprehensive quality.

In the absence of widely accepted education standards for parents of children after liver transplantation (LTx), the content and structure of parental training are influenced by health care practitioners’ (HCP) individual knowledge and assessment of the relevance of its contents. This study examines the hypothesis that expectations towards training differ between HCPs and parents, and that the quality of parental training affects the job-satisfaction of HCPs. Attitudes towards disease-specific education were assessed by tailor-made questionnaires in HCPs (n = 20) and parents of children with chronic liver disease or after LTx (n = 113). These were supplemented by focused interviews in n = 7 HCPs and n = 16 parents. Parents were more satisfied with current counseling than HCP. Language barriers and low parental educational background were perceived as obstacles by 43% of HCPs. The quality of parental knowledge was felt to have a strong influence on HCPs job satisfaction. The expectations towards the content of disease-specific education largely overlap but are not synonymous. HCP and parents agreed with regards to the importance of medication knowledge. Parents rated the importance about the meaning of laboratory values and diagnostic procedures significantly higher (3.50 vs. 2.85, p < 0.001 and 3.42 vs. 2.80, p < 0.001) than HCPs. Parents and HCPs would prefer a structured framework with sufficient staff resources for disease-specific counseling.
