At present a new view of culture as a source of creativity and a means of developing a personality’s creative abilities has been shaping in Latvia. It emphasizes a significant contribution of culture to other spheres of the country’s development including education, science and art. Choral music lessons an directed at all pupils, therefore, the aim of the lessons is the full development of each pupil’s musical and choral singing abilities, however, the study analysed in the article, books at different opinions of the 11-12-year-old pupils on choral singing lessons. The aim of the article is to highlight the necessity of choral singing in comprehensive schools in connection with the conclusions drawn in H.Gardner’s „Five Minds for the Future”.

The article is devoted to the topic of cinema development in Ukraine and the role of state aid in the development of the film industry. Much effort is required to develop cinematography, mainly from the state in the form of material and legal assistance. In order for the film industry to start productive activities, it is beneficial for the Ukrainians who have something to look at, as well as for the state, which will have an income to the state budget. The film industry is an important component of the cultural sphere. Cinema helps the individual to escape from problems, to plunge into another reality. In the 21st century, cinema is not a way to have fun, but a source for the beginning of thinking, analysis, and cognition. The movie industry is a powerful lever for the country’s development. Much effort is required to develop cinematography, mainly from the state in the form of material and legal assistance. To date, the cinema industry in Ukraine needs to solve the existing problems. The main problem is concentrated in the structures that receive state financial aid and misuse it. It is impossible to say that the developed film industry is the lion’s share of the country’s budget. To produce high-quality tapes is beneficial not only for the economy but also for the global perception of Ukraine as a state that is able to move forward in all areas. The development of the film industry is a significant contribution to the spiritual development of the nation, as well as the opportunity for the future international recognition and perception of domestic cinema as another quality product from Ukraine. It is impossible to say that the developed film industry is the lion’s share of the country’s budget. Twenty-first century philosophy has been drawn into a false opposition between speculation and critique. In this important intervention, Nathan Brown argues that the key to overcoming this antinomy is rethinking the relation between rationalism and empiricism. If Kant’s transcendental philosophy attempted to displace the opposing claims of those competing schools, any speculative critique of Kant will have to reopen and consider anew the conflict and complementarity of reason and experience. The British choral tradition is rooted in its ancient cathedrals and chapels, where the office of Evensong is sung, often daily. In addition, choral societies are to be found in most localities where singers come together and perform some of the major works in the western canon. Although singing itself occurs in a variety of forms this chapter looks at conductor-led choral singing. It does not give a fulsome picture of UK choral conducting and singing. Nonetheless, through a brief history starting from the John Curwen’s tonic sol-fa ideas for singing and culminating in a 20th century choral music renaissance; through an analysis of the English choral tradition; through a consideration of revivals of UK singing such as “Sing Up”; and through questionnaires and interviews with conductors and singers, the chapter explores some of the personal, cultural and sociological, educational, and musical issues and interests that can be found in the United Kingdom now.

Malaysia is one of the classic examples of a multi-ethnic society. The country is proud of its multiracial culture which makes it a model for other countries. The ubiquitous community hall in the Malaysian landscape, as it stands now, has long passed its time of usefulness. These halls are labelled with names like dewan serbaguna, dewan orang ramai or even balai raya. But as it stands today, the community hall in our midst is nothing more than a large empty space used for games like badminton or ping pong and the occa-sional event. The changing modern Malaysian society demands more of this simple out-dated facility; there must be a place for the various ethnic groups to meet and fulfil modern needs such as family days, health checks, child’s play, music lessons and many more important uses This paper strives to identify and analyse some of the architectural problems in current community centres in Malaysia with the focus on the spatial aspects and space usage. It is expected that this paper can give a clear picture of the problems faced by Malaysian community centres with some considerations and a framework to develop a new scheme for community centre development in the future.

Amateur musical ensembles draw participants from widely varying disciplines into shared artistic activity in a way that few other artforms do; in particular, choral music, in which bodies both create and directly receive sound, raises profound questions of how performers’ uniquely embodied creative approaches interact. Amateur choral singing therefore offers a lens into how musical creativity is distributed among, and emergent from, a diverse group of individuals. This article explores how the performance of indeterminate and improvisatory choral works offers a powerful example of this distributed creative agency via a network of sounding bodies. This article centres on a case study (March–October 2017) involving three British amateur choirs in the performance of improvisatory choral scores by Kerry Andrew (2005) and Cornelius Cardew (1968–70). Complexity Theory (Davis and Sumara 2006) offers a useful framework for understanding how creative impulses and constructions interact; both the vocal expression and corporeal receipt of these creative ideas occurs in an embodied way, drawing on dance and embodiment theory (Sheets-Johnstone 2009, Downey 2002). The research process and qualitative-data-processing methodology (Charmaz 2014) of the case study are described, before findings are laid out with a view to how they point towards ideas of embodied, complex interaction. These findings offer an important, and hitherto unexplored, view into how Complexity Theory (a common theoretical framework in other fields across the sciences and humanities) might usefully describe musical performance. In transcending attempts to atomise ensemble interaction according to shared intellectual knowledge and verbal communication, the complex, embodied interaction of diverse singers, through the physical connection of sound, might involve those singers in the distributed authorship of a musical work.
