We carried out the conditions analysis of the development of emotional and meaningful attitude to motherhood among student-age girls in connection with low fertility and ambiguous attitude of young people to parenting — a pressing problem in present-day Russia. The presented results of the empirical study (N=230) identify five types of girls ‘ attitude to motherhood and show their relationship with the peculiarities of parent-child interaction in the parent family. The unfavorable tendency of negative and ambivalent attitude to motherhood was revealed in a significant part of the sample. The formation of positive emotional and meaningful attitudes towards the birth of children in girls is facilitated by parental acceptance, cooperation, closeness, consent, as well as the authority of parents and satisfaction with relations with them. Disharmonious child-parent relationships are more often found in girls that reject a mother’s role. The role of a sibling position is considered, as well as a factor of girls’ living together with parents or separately.

The article presents the results of an organized study and spontaneous volunteer activities of young people, reveals the specificity of social practices and the peculiarities of “detachment” motivation and “spontaneous” volunteering. Volunteer activity of young people is seen as a manifestation of social activity, including individual / personal and group / collective forms. The empirical study was carried out using the methodological technique of triangulation — a combination of quantitative and qualitative strategies for collecting and analyzing data: a questionnaire survey of young volunteers (N = 131) and in-depth semi-formalized interviews (18 informants). Based on the data analysis results, the main motives of volunteers, key areas of volunteering, changes related to the pandemic and the role of volunteers in this period, the prospects for the development of detachment volunteering are revealed. The advantages and limitations of organized (detachment) and spontaneous volunteering, barriers in the development of young people’s social activity are revealed. The Russian and foreign experience of youth involvement in volunteering is presented, an analysis of trends in the development of youth volunteering, institutional conditions and limitations manifested in the practice of volunteering is presented. The study showed that the key advantages of squad volunteering are the presence of an organizer coordinating the work, the ability to do more good deeds, the presence of like-minded people, access to events closed to other volunteers, the opportunity to become a leader of the volunteer squad. The main barriers in the implementation of volunteer activities are associated with the registration procedure for applications for events, lack of resources, excessive formalization. As a recommendation based on the results of the study, in order to support the positive social activity of young people, it was proposed to create resource centers that would allow coordinating the work of volunteers and ensuring continuity in volunteering.

Summary One cannot write about the relationship of young people and current sports stars in modern society without having previously studied the processes of mediation and globalisation of sport, and the transformation of traditional social values. The goal of the science and practice engaged in sports and education of young people is a constant quest for preserving universal ethical values and reconciling them with the modern-day social processes. This paper will present the result of a survey conducted with adolescents in five different Serbian cities in order to find the answer to the question if sportspersons were their favourite television role-models. According to the results of our survey, 45% of adolescents do not have a favourite TV personality and do not know for sure who that could be. Novak Đoković, who would be the choice of adults for a role model of the young, with 63.2% according to the survey conducted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, scored 3.81% in our survey with adolescents who would chose Novak Đoković as their favourite TV personality. The necessity of raising media literacy of young people with the aim of clear identification of sports role models who are going to improve their quality of life still remains an open issue for further research on this course.

The objective of the present study has been to assess the influence that the sex of the aggressor and the sex of participant have on the perception of three types of psychological violence in young couples. A total of 693 young people, ranging from 17 years to 25 years, were randomly assigned six different scenarios in which situations of psychological violence between young heterosexual couples were described and where the sex of the aggressor and the types of psychological violence varied. The results of our research revealed that differences in the perception of violence are observed based on the sex of the aggressor, the sex of the participant, and the type of psychological violence, independently, as well as in the interaction of the three variables. This result is relevant as it points to the need for further in-depth study into situations that could contribute to justifying violence.

Drug use has been increasing worldwide over recent decades. Apart from the determinants of drug initiation established in numerous studies, the authors wish to draw attention to other equally important factors, which may contribute to augmenting this phenomenon. The article aims to draw attention to the content of mass culture, especially representations of drug use in mass media, which may influence the liberalization of attitudes towards drugs and their use. The role of mass culture and its impact on the audience is discussed. It presents an overview of drug representations in the content of mass culture, e.g., in film, music, literature, and the occurrence of drug references in everyday products, e.g., food, clothes, and cosmetics. Attention was drawn to liberal attitudes of celebrities and their admissions to drug use, particularly to the impact of the presented positions on the attitudes of the audience, especially young people for whom musicians, actors, and celebrities are regarded as authorities. Indications for further preventive actions were also presented. Attention was drawn to the need to take appropriate action due to the time of the COVID-19 pandemic when many people staying at home (due to lockdown or quarantine) have the possibility of much more frequent contact with mass culture content, which may distort the image of drugs.
