The article analyzes the Ukrainian oikonyms motivated by plant names as an important source of studying the historical development of the Ukrainian language. It also identifies a number of extralinguistic factors that had a direct impact on the naming processes. The units, fixed in the «History of Cities and Villages of the Ukrainian SSR» and «Administrative and Territorial System of Ukraine» for 2019 (current list of Ukrainian oykonyms), give an opportunity to trace the dynamics of the Ukrainian oykonymikon motivated by plant names and investigate certain phenomena of the history of the Ukrainian language reflected in the names of Ukrainian settlements. The studied units record the old phonetic features: the absence or presence of prosthetic sounds, the phenomenon of forthcoming vowels in the unstressed position, the simplification in the groups of consonants, the phenomenon of sound combinations rо, lо, ra, la, rе, lе and others. In addition, the lexical features of the oikonyms motivated by plant names, which as wide as possible reflect the specifics of the lingual model of the world of our ancestors, are noticeable. Plant names of folk origin, as well as the precedent plant names, which are an integral part of Ukrainian ethno- and linguoculture, were the motivational basis for the creation of a large part of the oikonyms. The emergence of oikonyms motivated by plant names in the Eastern and Southern regions of Ukraine is characterized by the significant influence of the Russian language. Taking into account the heterogeneity of the names of settlements, due to the wide zoning of certain parts of Ukraine, as well as the territorial features of the relievo, flora and fauna, we also have analyzed the regional specificity of oikonyms motivated by plant names. In this case dialect traits, which are widely represented in the names of Ukrainian cities and villages, serve as narrow regional markers and make it possible to compare the outlook and specific thinking of our ancestors who lived within different territories of Ukraine.

The article analyzes structural, word-formation and morphological peculiarities of Ukrainian oikonyms motivated by plant names. The conducted research of fixed in the «History of Cities and Villages of the Ukrainian SSR» and «Administrative and Territorial System of Ukraine» for 2019 (current list of Ukrainian oikonyms) confirmed the opinion of many linguists that the most productive way of creating names of settlements is the suffixation, on the other hand, far fewer units are formed with the help of compounding and prefixation. The following groups were distinguished on the basis of the analysis of oikonym-phrases formed from plant names: oikonym-phrase in which the noun is motivated by the plant name and the adjective indicates colour; oikonym-phrases in which one of the components is in the most cases an adjective motivated by plant name, and the main noun is one of the types of landscape, etc. We have considered some interesting oikonym-phrases which occur in all regions of Ukraine, for example, с. Кисла Дубина, с. Красні Лози, с. Мокра Рокитна etc. Some of the names of settlements have been significantly influenced by the Russian language, especially at the morphological level.

This article reflects the innovations in the functional syntax of scholars who have contributed to the history of linguistics around the world. Noam Chomsky’s philosophical and psychological views on the innate nature of language in the human mind are included in the article. The various primitive ideas of the ancient Greeks about the origin of speech were the basis of logical, morphological, and lexical approaches in modern linguistics. According to book Syntax of the Russian Language by A. Shakhmatov, people first created sentences and then determined their composition. The research of ancient Arabic linguists played an important role in the development of such modem languages. The original research brought to the structural syntax by a number of Azerbaijani linguists are of great importance in the linguistics of the Turkic-speaking peoples. From the data obtained, it can be concluded that syntax is the most interesting and complex discussion of linguistics.

This paper presents the analysis of Russian animalistic phraseological units included in the Russian-Croatian Phraseological Dictionary (2019). In our research we focused on etalons that have the simile structure. Anthropomorphism and zoomorphism are two antipodes of the same reality within the language picture of the world – in our case it is the Russian language picture of the world. We believed that the anthropocentric perspective of the animal world was stronger than the ecocentric perspective, and that it has influenced the Russian language correspondingly, which has led us to the conclusion that there must be more Russian anthropomorphic similes than zoomomorphic similes. But the analysis that we have performed within the frames of the Russian-Croatian Phraseological Dictionary has not proven our hypothesis. The findings of this study suggest that there is an equal number of anthropomorphic and zoomorphic similes within the analyzed phraseological material.

This article is devoted to the linguoculturological competence development among schoolchildren in the process of teaching the Russian language. The object of scientific consideration was the lexeme "rainbow", which refers to the most ancient layer of words and has a deep national and cultural specificity. In accordance with the set tasks of our work, we used descriptive-analytical, stylistic, component, distributive methods of data analysis, the method of the semantic field. An integrated approach to the study of the lexeme "rainbow" implies a multifaceted analysis, including the analysis of dictionary definitions, collection of etymological information, consideration of word-formation relations, study of the paremiological status of a word, its discursive features, identification of traditional and individual author's meanings and, thus, reflection in the form of creative work of students, reflecting the information received about this lexeme... An upbringing approach in Russian language lessons helps students discover aesthetic ways of understanding the world, without which it is impossible to describe the Russian language picture of the world.

This article discusses the semantics of lexical units included in the thematic group ‘Plant World’. For a person with a traditional worldview, nature is the basis for the formation of a system of views, values, for numerous rethinking. The material for analysis in the article is provided not by a lexicographic source but by a linguo-geographical one. A collection of maps of the recently published first issue of The Plant World of the Lexical Atlas of Russian Folk Dialects allows us to make rather interesting observations. Work with the material of semantic maps makes it possible not only to establish changes in the semantics of lexical units but also to find areas that are associated with the use of a word in one or another secondary meaning. In some cases, there were created duplicate maps devoted solely to the functioning of lexical units in extended sense. Systemic analysis of maps makes it possible to identify patterns in the semantic shifts of lexemes denoting facts and phenomena of the world around as the main meaning. There have been revealed semantic shifts of lexemes from the thematic group ‘Plant World’ to the field of subject, locative and anthropomorphic registers. Such examples of the extensive use of words are not unexpected for the Russian language. It should also be emphasized that the analysis of comments and other materials accompanying maps allows us to establish the features of shifts in semantics. It has been determined that a shift to the subject and locative semantic register is mainly associated with metonymy mechanisms, while a shift to the area of the anthropomorphic semantic register – with the metaphorical transfer mechanisms. The author draws conclusions concerning both the use of map materials for analyzing the extension of semantics and the features of secondary nominations in lexemes belonging to the thematic group ‘Plant World’.
