The effects of reproduction were investigated in carp females of the Hungarian strain 7 whose ovulation was stimulated with carp pituitary homogenate (0.3 + 2.7 mg/kg; group I), Ovopel (1/5 + 1 pellet/kg; group II) or Dagin (1 dose/kg; group III). The least-squares means calculated for the weight of eggs expressed in grams show that eggs of the highest weight were given by females treated with Ovopel and those of the lowest weight by females treated with carp pituitary homogenate (1 047.65 g and 769.28 g, respectively). For this parameter a statistically significant (P ≤ 0.05) difference was found between the means of group I and II and between the means of group II and III. In the percentage of egg fertilization a statistically significant (P ≤ 0.05) difference was also determined between the means of group I and II and between the means of group II and III. The applied spawning inducing agent did not affect the percentage of living embryos after 48 h incubation. Within group I and II the latency time did not affect any of the investigated parameters significantly, however, after Ovopel stimulation eggs obtained 7 h after the second injection showed higher weight and better quality in comparison with eggs yielded two hours later. Within the latency time of 7 h and 9 h statistically significantly (P ≤ 0.05) higher weight of eggs and statistically significantly (P ≤ 0.05) better quality after 12-h incubation were found in the ovulation stimulation with Ovopel. In the group of fish treated with Dagin the latency time affected the weight of eggs. In this group statistically significantly (P ≤ 0.05) higher weight of eggs was noted for females whose ovulation occurred after 17 h from the application of Dagin while in the latency time of 15 h and 17 h the quality of eggs was similar after the incubation of 12 h and also after 48 h.

Background: Aim of this study was to evaluate the role of physical rehabilitation to improve the quality of life (QOL) of people after kidney transplantation. Patients and methods: Analyzes the results of treatment of 57 recipients (mean age 35±9,65 years) donor kidney at different times of the postoperative period. Depending on the physical rehabilitation program allocated 3 groups of patients: group II — physical rehabilitation was carried out only in the first week after surgery to prevent early postoperative complications, in group I — during the year; in group III combined 30 relatively healthy people do not need an organ transplant and with a mean age 33,7±8,7 years, leading a normal life, not engaged in regular recreational physical culture. Quality of life was assessed using a questionnaire SF36 at 1, 3, 6 and a 12 months after surgery. Results: One year after surgery in both groups compared with preoperative indicators marked improvement according to all scales of the questionnaire. However, in group I indicators of quality of life were higher than in group II from 11,4 to 19,7%, and even some items questionnaire SF-36 is higher than in group III which is associated with the physical rehabilitation. Conclusion: It has been shown that exercises is an important component of treatment and rehabilitation after kidney transplantation and help improve both the psychological and the physical component of quality of life.

Introduction. Stomatoprothetic dentures are one of the factors of oral health and life quality of people of all ages. The aim of the paper is to make a connection between the oral health quality and quality of life on one side and the type of denture on the other. Material and Methods. This research study was conducted on the sample of 360 patients singled out in three numerically identical groups as follows: group I - patients treated with fixed dentures, group II - patients treated with mobile dentures, and group III - patients treated with both fixed and mobile dentures. The oral health quality was observed via five parameters: anamnestic data, symptoms of ill-functioning of basic functions in stomatogenic system (chewing and speech), extra oral examination, intraoral examination, and dental abilities. For some oral health quality parameters, the index of quality was determined. Results. Analyses of our three target groups of patients indicated that the patients from group I (treated with fixed dentures) suffered the least negative effects in line with the observed parameters; they are followed by patients from group III (combined dentures) and patients from group II (mobile dentures), respectively. Conclusion. Our research study showed that some oral health parameters have different impacts on health and life quality in patients treated with different stomatoprosthetic dentures.

Antituberculosis is the most liver damage causes. Rifampicin and Isoniazide, in combination, are toxic compounds. Isoniazide and rifampicin metabolits causes lipid peroxidation. The hepatoprotective effect of rosella calyx water extract on liver damage induced with Isoniazide-rifampicin evaluated by examination of malondialdehid levels in the liver organ. 25 male wistar rats divided into 5 groups, ie group I (INH-rifampicin + rosella water extract 250 mg/kgBW), group II (INH-rifampicin + rosella water extract 125 mg/kgBW), group III (INH-rifampicin + rosella water extract 62.5 mg/kgBW),  group IV (healthy control) and group V (Isoniazide-rifampicin). MDA liver levels were analyzed after 35 days of treatments. The test results of each group are, group I has mean MDA levels 0.023912 + 0.011 mg/ml, group II 0.023526 + 0.009 mg/ml, group III 0.027168 + 0.007 mg/ml group IV 0.03437 + 0.009 mg/ml and group V 0.236846 + 0.118 mg/ml. The kruskal-wallis test showed significantly value 0.008 (p 0.05) and Post hoc Mann U whitney test showed that group V was significantly different to group I, II, III, and IV (p = 0.008) respectively, roselle extract can be used as a hepatoprotector antioxidant to improve the tuberculosis drug consumer quality of life through improved health by lowering lipid peroxidation that causes liver damage.

This study was conducted to determine the quality of anesthesia by evaluating the clinical effects of midazolam-propofol and metamizole-propofol on domestic pigeons. The aim of the study was to choose an appropriate injectable anesthetic protocol by utilizing midazolam and metamizole as pre-anesthetic drugs in order to reduce the dose of propofol and decrease side effects. Eighteen male pigeons weighing 304.2±32.3g (mean±SD) were randomly allocated to three groups of six pigeons each. Midazolam (6 mg/kg/IM) and metamizole (500 mg/kg/IM) were used five minutes prior to administration of propofol (8 mg/kg/IV) in groups I and II, respectively, while the birds in group III (control group) received metamizole (500 mg/kg/IM). Five minutes after the last injection, clinical parameters of various systems were evaluated. Nervous system parameters declined in groups I and II, while reflexes could still be elicited in group III (P<0.05). There were no significant changes in the heart rate, dysrhythmia, or gastrointestinal parameters in the three groups (P>0.05). The birds in group II showed reduced jaw and limb muscle tone (P<0.05). Corneal and palpebral reflexes were absent in groups I and II (P<0.05). Both respiratory depth and pattern were irregular in group I, while all the parameters were normal in group II (P<0.05). The respiratory rate decreased in all groups after injection, although this reduction was significant only in group I (P<0.05). In conclusion, the combination of metamizole-propofol is safer and more compatible with the physiology of pigeons and can be used for short operations, especially when inhalation agents are contraindicated..

The article presents the results of a study of attitudes towards illness, quality of life and their relationship in hospitalized patients. An empirical study of three groups of hospitalized patients aged 40 to 80 years was carried out: with ischemic heart disease (group I, n = 22; 55,3(13,8) years), with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (group II, n=22; 53,7(12,0) years) and with osteochondrosis (group III, n=22; 59,6(14,8) years). Distribution by sex in all groups – 50% of men and 50% of women. To determine the type of attitude towards the disease, the Bekhterev Institute's questionnaire "Type of attitude towards the disease" (TOBOL) was used, the quality of life – the questionnaire of the Assessment of the quality of life (SF-36). The results of the study showed that in patients of all groups maladaptive types of attitudes towards the disease prevailed: Group I – hypochondriacal; apathetic; Group II – neurasthenic, dysphoric, paranoid; Group III – anxious, apathetic types. The quality of life of patients of all groups did not differ from each other: the physical component of health was assessed as low; the psychological component of health was average. A high rate of pain syndrome and social functioning was found in patients in group I, and in general health in patients in group II. Factor analysis revealed the relationship between the general state of health of patients (the patient's subjective assessment of his health) and the type of attitude towards the disease. Most of the patients needed psychological help to correct the type of attitude towards the disease and improve the quality of life. The revealed relationship between the internal picture of the disease and the quality of life requires additional research.

Background: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the potentiation of general anaesthetic activity of ketamine by NMDA receptor antagonist ‘amantadine’ in wistar albino rats.Methods: The wistar albino rats of either sex were divided into three groups of five animals in each group. Group I received ketamine 80mg/kg, group II received ketamine 40mg/kg along with amantadine 40mg/kg and group III received ketamine 80mg/kg along with amantadine 40mg/kg to evaluate the potentiation of general anaesthetic effect of ketamine. The sleep latency time and the total sleeping time were measured in all the three groups.Results: The sleep latency time of group III is significantly decreased (p <0.035) and as equal to that of group II when compared to group I. The sleeping time of group III is significantly increased (p <0.001) when compared to group I.Conclusions: Amantadine - the NMDA receptor antagonist potentiates the general anaesthetic activity of ketamine.

The purpose of food packing in modified atmosphere is to extend its sustainability by preventing both biochemical processes and growth of spoilage bacteria. Gases or their mixtures which are mostly used in the modified atmosphere food packing technology are carbon-dioxide (CO2), oxygen (O2) and nitrogen (N2). The aim of our research was to examine the influence of packaging in modified atmosphere and vacuum on the total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) content and pH in muscle of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and common carp (Cyprinus carpio), as well as to determine the most suitable gas mixtures for packing of these freshwater species. Three sample groups of trout and carp cuts were investigated. The first two groups were packaged in modified atmosphere with different gas ratios: 60%CO2+40%N2 (I group) and 40%CO2+60%N2 (II group), whereas the samples from third, control group, (III group) were vacuum packaged. During trials samples were stored in refrigerator at +3?C. Determination of TVB-N and pH was performed on 1st, 7th and 14th day of storage. The obtained results indicate that the investigated mixtures of gases and vacuum as well had a significant influence on the values of TVB-N in trout and carp cuts samples. The lowest increase in TVB-N was established in trout and carp cuts samples from the group I, whereas the highest increase was established in samples from group III. Statistical significant difference (p < 0,001) between the average values of TVB-N for trout (I group: 18,17 ? 0,93; II group: 20,90 ? 0,81 and III group: 36,18 ? 2,65 mg N/100 g ) and carp cuts (I group: 26,74 ? 1,48; II group: 30,02 ? 0,31 and III group: 35,10 ? 1,75 mg N/100 g) was established on 14th day. The lowest pH value was established in samples packaged in modified atmosphere with 60% CO2 +40% N2 (I group). On 14th day of testing the obtained value was 6,15 ? 0,09 for trout and 5,94 ? 1,11 for carp samples. Increase in pH value in trout samples packed in vacuum was established during the whole period of investigation (p < 0,001), while in carp cuts samples packaged in vacuum the increase in pH value (p < 0,05) was established up to 7th day of testing. Based on the obtained results it can be concluded that gas mixture consisting of 60% CO2 and 40% N2 was the most suitable for packaging of fresh trout and carp cuts in terms of selected chemical parameters, such as TVB-N and pH.

The study was conducted in eighteen clinical cases of horses for diagnostic and surgical procedures requiring general anaesthesia were randomly divided into three groups, group I, group II and group III, each consisting of six cases. All the horses were premedicated with glycopyrrolate at the dose rate of 0.02 mg/kg body weight, intravenously. Horses in Group I and Group II were administered xylazine hydrochloride at the dose rate of 1.10 mg/kg body weight intravenously, whereas in Group III at the dose rate of 0.50 mg/kg body weight intravenously. In Group III, acepromazine was injected after xylazine administration, at the dose rate of 0.02mg/kg body weight, intravenously. Before induction of anaesthesia, nalbuphine hydrochloride was administered for Group II and Group III at the dose rate of 0.75 mg/kg body weight intravenously. Ketamine hydrochloride was administered intravenously to induce anaesthesia at the dose rate of 2.20 mg/kg body weight and maintained with 0.50 mg/kg body weight in required cases to maintain for duration of 15 ± 1.04 minutes. The mean time for induction in group I, group II and group III were 1.78 ± 0.27, 1.73 ± 0.10 and 1.85 ± 0.28 minutes respectively. The mean total number of additional doses of ketamine for standard duration of 15 ± 1.04 minutes surgery required in group I, group II and group III were 5.00 ± 0.36, 1.66 ± 0.33 and 2.00 ± 0.36 respectively. The quality of induction was 100 per cent smooth in group III, 83.33 per cent smooth and 16.67 per cent rough in group II and 66.66 per cent smooth and 33.34 per cent rough in group I. The quality of analgesia in group I, group II and group III were 2.83 ± 0.47, 1.83 ± 0.30 and 1.33 ± 0.21 respectively. The quality of muscle relaxation in group I, group II and group III were 3.16 ± 0.30, 1.50 ± 0.22 and 1.33 ± 0.21 respectively. The mean time for recovery in group I, group II and group III were 23.00 ± 1.52, 33.00 ± 0.93 and 41.98 ± 1.32 minutes respectively. The mean number of attempts for unassisted standing in group I, group II and group III were 6.66 ± 0.71, 5.00 ± 0.57 and 5.00 ± 0.36 respectively. The quality of recovery was 83.33 per cent smooth and 16.67 per cent rough in group III, 66.66 per cent smooth and 33.34 per cent rough in group II and 50.00 per cent smooth and 50.00 per cent rough in group I. None of the animals in any groups showed any intra and post operative complication.

The quality of life indicators of 70 patients who underwent reconstructive and reconstructive breast surgery were studied. We used a depression test questionnaire and questionnaires on the quality of life. The patients were divided into 3 groups. It was found that a higher level of depression in group II compared to group I. Low level of depression in group III. Indicators of the physical component of health are the highest in group II compared to groups I and III. Low indicators of the physical component of health in group III patients. Indicators of the psychological component of health are higher in group III compared to groups II and I. Higher indicators of the psychological component of health in patients of groups II and III. Key words: quality of life, mammary glands, reconstructive and reconstructive operations, neoplasms, psycho-emotional status.

Purpose — to study the indicators of quality of life in pregnant women with a history of different types of infertility. Materials and methods. The study of quality of life indicators was carried out in 127 women aged 20 to 49 years, 97 of whom had a history of infertility of various origins and 30 pregnant women who had it. The distribution of pregnant women into groups was based on the factor of infertility: Group I — 35 pregnant women with a history of endocrine infertility, Group II — 37 pregnant women with a history of inflammatory infertility, Group III — 25 pregnant women with a history of combined infertility of inflammatory genesis with endocrine, Group IV (control) — 30 healthy pregnant women who did not have a history of infertility. The method of assessing quality of life was the WHOQOL-BREF Short Questionnaire. Results. The indicators of quality of life and general health, according to the subjective assessment of the patients, were the lowest in group III — 2.5±0.10 points and 2.1±0.05 points. In group I patients, the score was 3.1±0.15 points and 3.2±0.20 points and in group II — 3.2±0.10 points and 3.3±0.07 points, respectively. It should be noted that the most positive assessment of these indicators took place in the control group of pregnant women — 5.0±0.3 points. Thus, the physical functioning was assessed by the patients of group III at 16.7±1.1 points, and self+perception — at 20.5±1.6 points. A patient of groups I and II with a history of infertility assessed these indicators — 18.2±1.3 points; 23.4±1.5 points and 19.5±1.4 points; 22.6±1.6 points, respectively. The women in the control group had higher scores — 24.7±1.8 points; 25.7±1.7 points. Microsocial support in groups I, II, III was assessed 8.2±0.3 points; 9.3±0.5 points; 7.7±0.2 points, but in the control group — 13.7±0.1 points. The indicators of social well+being were 22.4±1.8 points; 23.5±1.9 points; 20.6±1.5 in groups I, II, III, and in the control group — 36.4±2.1 points. Conclusions. In women who became pregnant after long-term treatment of infertility in anamnesis, there was a significant deterioration in quality of life indicators compared with healthy women, which is explained by the high incidence of obstetric complications in them. Determination of quality of life indicators in women with a history of infertility is an integral part of monitoring during pregnancy, which allows adequate assessment and timely correction of physical, social and psycho-emotional functions in the interests of the mother and the fetus. The research was carried out in accordance with the principles of the Helsinki Declaration. The study protocol was approved by the Local Ethics Committee of these Institutes. The informed consent of the patient was obtained for conducting the studies. No conflict of interest was declared by the authors.
