The article reveals the theoretical conception of the construct of socialisation as well as the process and nature of the process of its practical implementation that is directed to meet globalisation challenges, i.e. sustainable and accordant development ensuring the well-being of communities and individuals, as well as life quality. Hence, the priorities of the socialization of disabled people is changing focusing on the development of inclusion and participation in social life as well as striving for more rapid development and socialisation of the disabled. Social sciences, including educational science, social pedagogy and social work that is relatively new as it has lasted for a decade in Lithuania, search for solutions enabling to efficiently employ connections between them in solving problems of socialisation implementation. The article presents empirical research that involved 10 participants and included a semi-structured group interview. The participants have a qualification of a social pedagogue acquired in BA studies and have accomplished MA studies in the field of social work at Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences; they implement practical social work with different groups of the disabled. The research results were generalised and interpreted using content analysis method that is based on “the measurement of the frequencies of quality categories” (Bitinas, 2006, 275). The group discussion method was employed to discuss socialisation problems of the disabled and it embraced three groups of questions: the first group covered the selection and definition of the conceptions and approaches of socialisation, as well as the prevailing paradigms of science and socialisation,; the second group incorporated achievements in socialisation implementation and identification of its prevailing strategies and methods; whereas the third group dealt with the anticipation of socialisation factors and distracters, as well as the possibilities and prospects of their elimination. The following conclusions are drawn: 1) under the conditions of modern socialization implementation, the diversity of the paradigms of socialisation process and their conceptions become of topical importance as they reveal the connections between experts of education and social work. They are manifested through: a) holistic approach towards socialisation by both sciences, which is especially relevant for the socialisation of the disabled that is determined by the developmental disorders of individual persons; b) the specifics of the implementation of functional goals of the systems of every science correlate with the spectrum of the employed paradigms; c) the paradigms of social work are directed towards and reflect globalisation challenges to a greater extent; 2) when identifying the factors of socialisation implementation, the experts give an identical evaluation of the aspects of educational and social work socialisation distinguishing the creation of an integrative environment and cooperation in it, application of the diversity of specialists’ professionalism and work methods, ensuring of activity and rehabilitation possibilities and measures in regard to the functional requirements of science systems; 3) it is important and essential to develop interdisciplinary tendencies of cooperating social work and educational science and search for effective means of its expression in the socialisation of disabled people.

Communication requires unconditional respect for the other. Acknowledging the qualities of the people   is a basis for good communication.  Communication starts when you accept the people the way they are. The social, economic and technical development provides opportunities for good professional realization of people with special educational needs.  The resistance, striving for “survival” and successful “introduction” into the social life are a prerequisite for success. The people who are stigmatized and their families are aware that once they have been labeled, they should have to overcome this stigma and to take the maximum possible good out of this label. Positive stigma stimulates the people with disabilities seek more contacts, to become more independent and to realize themselves adequately in the social life. The survey of attitudes and motivation scale contact with people with disabilities give reliable information about what is the attitude of students towards people with disabilities and what were their contacts. The successful integration into society of people with special educational needs depends also on the perceptions and attitudes of the professionals who work with them too. Undoubtedly, the attitudes and models for the disabled people change and will continue to change. In this context the disabled people should develop social identity and public awareness, but not only in their stigmatized group, but in a broad social aspect.

This critical reflection is based on my encounter with a disabled woman in a district in Malawi, and how I have reflected and analyzed the encounter using social work theories. The essay reflects on the story of the disabled woman and my own perception at that time, in addition to my analysis of these perceptions using different perspectives in social work based on my current understanding of these perspectives. In line with Fook’s (2002; 68) critical reflection techniques, social work theories will be applied to deconstruct and reconstruct the critical incident. The essay highlights the challenges and dilemmas I encountered in attempting to make meaning out of this encounter, which left me helpless and powerless, as I could not offer her any sustainable help at the time.

Much attention is paid to adapting public buildings or transport for the disabled. Not much, however, to spaces where the journey to a given destination begins. The path that has to be walked from the apartment until reaching public transport can significantly hinder the lives of people with reduced mobility. A housing estate is also a place where people spend a large part of their free time. Therefore, in order not to exclude disabled people from social life, designing such places in an accessible way is extremely important. And exactly this issue was raised in this article.

The aim of this study was to determine the perspectives of the students of the physiotherapy and rehabilitation department towards the disabled and their attitudes towards the education of the disabled. Sixty-eight volunteer students (50 females, 18 males) studying at Pamukkale University School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation and taking the Psychosocial Rehabilitation course in the Spring Semester of the 2020-2021 Academic Year participated in the study. The Attitude Toward Disabled Persons Scale (ATDPS) was used to evaluate the positive and negative attitudes of the students towards the disabled individuals, and the Attitude Scale for the Training of Individuals with Disabilities (ASTID) was used to determine their views on the education of the disabled individuals. Evaluations were made at the beginning and end of the relevant semester. The mean age of the students was 19.44±1.07 years. In the first evaluation, the mean of ATDPS was 50.75±13.92 and the total score of ASTID was 51.04±18.42 points. At the last evaluation, the ATDPS score increased to 78.36±13.77 and the ASTID total score to 93.13±7.48 (p=0.0001). Providing students with basic information about various disability groups and their rehabilitation will increase the level of awareness towards people with disabilities. It is important to develop positive attitudes towards the disabled throughout society in order for the disabled to feel themselves as a part of social life and to increase their participation in social life. It will contribute to the increase of the social awareness of the organizations to be organized regarding the education of the disabled and disabled people. Organizations to be held regarding disabled people and the education of the disabled will contribute to the increase of social awareness.

AbstractINTRODUCTION: Neoliberalism, the belief that free market economies are the best way to achieve human well-being, continues to dominate economic, political and social life in the UK, Europe and the globalised world. In the UK the welfare state has gradually been dismantled and become more punitive, the market place has been introduced, and social work has been de-professionalised and transformed into a narrower, more restricted, role. Instead of relationship-based work, practitioners are largely concerned with completing bureaucracy speedily to ration resources and assess/manage risk. Moreover, in relation to children and families, parents need to be self-responsible and, if they fail, a punitive response awaits: being told to change their behaviour/lifestyle or face losing their children to adoption.APPROACH AND CONCLUSIONS: Drawing and building upon my previous work (for example, Rogowski, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016), this article outlines the neoliberal changes and challenges to social work with children and families in the UK, arguing that critical practice is ever more necessary. Such practice entails working alongside children and families on the issues at the root of social injustice, notably growing inequality in the neoliberalised world. Importantly, examples of what such a practice might entail are highlighted.

In the article, the authors attempt to analyze the various origins of libertarian paternalism - political, social, cultural, and try to explore the essence of this social and social phenomenon. Libertarian paternalism has both positive and negative features, which are actualized, in turn, by modern planetary challenges.The aim and the tasks: analysis of the essence of the social phenomenon of libertarian paternalism, and the study of its origins - political, social, cultural. Research methods are historical, structural and functional, systemic and equitable.For the revision of specific projects, it is also the principle of consistency, objectivity, convergence from the abstract to the concrete. Research results: Democracy and human rights have found themselves in the grip of challenges, to which both the government and the private sector of the economy in particular react in a peculiar way. In the civilized world, the problem of social protection is acute; an ordinary person dramatically perceives the massive pressure of advertising, the media, certain structures that are interested, first of all, in the early sale of their products - material, spiritual and social. Libertarian paternalism is seen by the authors as a possible way to reconcile these issues, especially from the point of view of protecting the human rights and freedoms. Discussion. In this regard, other authors note that in the practical implementation of Nudge technology, people rarely follow the ideal interpretation of private well-being in terms of full satisfaction of needs. Opponents suggest in this regard that people can be guided by temporary benefits in terms of irrational consumer behavior, that is, the socio-psychological bases of consumerism are affected. Conclusion. Libertarian paternalism was created as a reaction to political, economic and sociocultural changes in society under the impact of globalization, informatization and revision of social programs in the governments.The concept of libertarian paternalism and its practical implementation of nudge technology is relevant and promising in the context of a constant increase in the level of welfare of citizens. Libertarian paternalism affects the most subtle sociophilosophical, socio-psychological elements of the consciousness of an individual who has become hostage to government programs and private projects. The price of a rational choice of an individual is his own freedom, in the context of modern realities of social life.

The first part of the paper informs about research project concerning social and economic situation of disabled people and their families that has been started in ’93 under auspices of the Polish Academy of Science. Main efforts of the project cover 17 major areas of study: from living conditions of the disabled people and social attitudes towards them to their situation on the labour market and barriers that make an ideal of social participation as well as relevant efforts difficult to implement. The second part of the paper describes dynamic increases of the share of the disabled persons in the society and indicates number of social problems they are facing in their efforts to maintain more or less satisfactory social life

DOI: https://doi.org/10.14746/ikps.2019.24.03 Although it may be challenging to unambiguously recognize and define it, the notion of experiencing happiness, a constituent of psychological well-being, is undoubtedly one of the key traits featuring every person, whether intellectually fit or disabled. The feeling of happiness plays a significant role when coping with various types of situations including also the circumstances faced by an intellectually disabled person. Due to the diversity and multeity of the dimensions where it occurs, the experience of happiness can be subject of analyses from various stances, including the viewpoint of an intellectually disabled person. It seems that the disabled individual’s ability to deal with difficulties, which also influences efficiency of the rehabilitation process, is actually determined by the feelings of happiness, content and optimism, all of which remain in a relation with one’s personality, life situation,and conditions in which they live. The article draws attention to the subject of experiencing happiness by and psychological well-being of intellectually disabled people. It emphasizes the possibility of both theoretical and practical applications of assumptions of positive psychology as a requisite condition for the optimization of functioning of intellectually disabled people. Beyond any doubt, due care for the intellectually disabled people’s experience of happiness and psychological wellbeing is one of the most crucial requirements of their rehabilitation process as “positive states of mind (…) provide the power to struggle with adversities of life”

The present article considers innovative technologies, used in social work with disa-bled people. Special attention is paid to hospital-replacing technologies, such as supported living scheme, driven by development of inclusive society model. Imple-mentation phases of supported living scheme are thoroughly studied. The study proves that direct implementation of supported living technology should be based on considering individual characteristics and ththe needs of the disabled person, as well as the degree of his/her disability. The text provides analysis of domestic and foreign experience on supported living projects and their implementation. Monitoring and analysis of supported living projects, implemented within the territory of the Irkutsk region, were carried out within the study. The article presents findings of the socio-logical survey that was based on expert poll method. The main purpose of the survey was to define prospects and challenges for development of supported living services in the Irkutsk region. The paper concludes, that supported living is an effective al-ternative option to traditional residential care services, it also emphasizes the special importance of attracting non-profit organizations of the Irkutsk region to putting this advanced technology of social work into practice.

In Ukraine there are about 3 million people with disabilities who are not able to overcome the consequences of disability without the help and special care of society. All disabled people have the right to appropriate social, psychological, medical, professional and labor rehabilitation. The purpose of the research. The purpose of the study is to find out the economic and social benefits of home work of disabled people in Ukraine. Methodology. The analysis of the current Ukrainian legislation on the promotion of the disabled people employment is carried out. The organizational and legal principles of the home work application, the substantiation of home work as a type of social and psychological rehabilitation are revealed, recommendations for conducting home work for the social support of people in difficult straits have been identified. Results. It has been determined that labor rehabilitation is a system of measures developed with regard to the inclinations, physical and mental capabilities of the person and aimed at mastering the labor skills of labor activity providing the productional adaptation, including through the creation of special or specially adapted workplaces. It should be noted that the legal data framework on social and rehabilitation services of a professional and labor direction in the current legislation of Ukraine confirms to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the UN Convention on the Professional Recovery and Employment of Persons with Disabilities. At the same time, employment of such groups of population provides them with additional elaboration of pensions and additional financing for the development of social and rehabilitation services of the professional and labor direction. Practical meaning. It is established that labor activity, employment of disabled people is one of the most effective means of their social and psychological rehabilitation, aimed at renewal of the disabled persons’ social relations and relationships, their emotional stability, active social life, integration into an open society, expansion and deepening of social contacts, renewal of professional qualities and skills, creation of favorable conditions for development and assertiveness of the person. Prospects for further research. It is necessary to define a nomenclature list of specialists in the field of professional rehabilitation and social assistance to the persons with disabilities in accordance with the international standards, to identify their need, to provide an organizational and methodological basis for their training and further employment.
