ABSTRACTThe enzyme horseradish peroxidase has been recently used for the polymerization of water-soluble conductive polyaniline. Hematin, an ironporphyrin molecule that catalyzes the oxidative polymerization of aniline and phenol, is a robust and inexpensive biomimetic alternative to horseradish peroxidase. Composite thin film assemblies were fabricated by electrostatic layer-by-layer (ELBL) alternate deposition of a polyelectrolyte, poly(dimethyl diallylammonium chloride), and hematin. These multilayer assemblies were then used for the polymerization of aniline in the presence of a polystyrene sulfonate as a template. It was found that the polymerization rate depends on both pH and the concentration of hematin deposited and the polyaniline synthesis was possible both onto the ELBL surfaces and in solution. It was also discovered that it is possible to reuse the ELBL assembled hematin substrates for multiple aniline polymerizations.

This paper is devoted to the investigation of the diffraction characteristics of a multilayer optical structure, represented by a two-dimensional phase lattice formed in thin-film layers of nematic polymerizable liquid crystal (PLC). In order to generate periodically ordered liquid-crystal (LC) domains with dimensions of 5–10 µm, which form an anisotropic LC grating, the layer-by-layer patterned photoalignment technology of the water-soluble azo dye AbA-2522 was used. The possibilities of spatial-polarization control of light beams by means of developed one- and two-dimensional diffractive LC structures have been studied experimentally. Our results are promising from the point of view of development and creation of LC-devices for solving current problems of polarization photonics.

TiO2/ZnO composite thin film was prepared by sequentially spread TiO2and ZnO thin film on the ground layer by layer with sol-gel method respectively. Two different natural dyes (Hehuang safflower yellow pigment and Lycium ruthenicum Murr pigment) were used as sensitizer respectively to sensitize TiO2/ZnO thin film photoanodes and be assembled into solar cells. Dipping time of photoanodes stayed in sensitizer was investigated systematically and the results show that higher photovoltaic conversion efficiency can be obtained with extension of immersing time. The phase structure, crystallinity, morphology and optical property of photoanode were characterized based on XRD, SEM and UV-vis measurements.

In this research aniline polymerization conditions were optimized in presence of pre-treated polyester textile to achieve as high electrical conductivity as 100 S/Cm. Alkaline activation of the polyester textile was followed by immersion in to aqueous acidic solution of aniline monomer. Then the oxidant solution was used to initiate the polymerization. Finally, the prepared product was washed and dried prior to ant test. Functional groups were studied by Fourie-transformed infrared spectrometry (FTIR) from the surface of the polyaniline coated textile. Also, morphological structure of synthesized conductive polyaniline was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The synthesized cloth was used in a closed circuit in order to light up alight emitting diode to emphasis the conductivity of the textile and fibres that synthesised by this method.
