ABSTRACTSelf-assembled functional molecules in mesoporous materials are synthesized directly either by co-assembly of dye-bound surfactant of ferrocenyl TMA with silicate or Pc (phthalocyanine) molecules doped in the C16TMA micelles with oxides framework such as V2O5, MoO3, WO3 and SiO2. The process provides well-organized molecular dopoed mesoporous structure by direct and simple procedure.

Ti-SBA-15 mesoporous materials with different Si/Ti molar ratios were synthesized via a hydrothermal process and characterized by using various techniques. The effect of Si/Ti molar ratios in the gels on the structure and catalytic efficiency in epoxidation of cyclohexene was discussed in details. The results showed that all the Ti-SBA-15 materials retained SBA-15 mesoporous structure and exhibited good catalytic activity. Furthermore, the sample prepared with Si/Ti =50 exhibited the best catalytic performance under the reaction conditions.

Work on nitrogen loss and structural change of nitrogen-containing SBA-15 mesoporous materials after heat treatment in air or water treatment is described herein. The nitrogen-containing SBA-15 lost nitrogen after being treated in air at high temperature or in water, the mesoporous structure of which was very well maintained and did not collapse. HRTEM, N2 sorption, powder XRD, and SEM were used to study the structural ordering and morphology of the mesoporous silicon oxynitride materials before and after treatment. FTIR and C/N/H elemental analysis confirmed that nitrogen loss occurred after the mesoporous silicon oxynitride material was treated. Nitrogen was lost via hydrolysis of ammonium groups when mesoporous silicon oxynitride material was treated in water and by being substituted by oxygen from air when it was heated in air at high temperature.

Mesoporous silica and titanium SBA-15 samples with different Si/Ti molar ratio were prepared by direct one-step synthesis under strongly acidic hydrothermal conditions. The materials were characterised by X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption at 77K. The Si/Ti values of the final calcined materials were determined by ICP analysis. It was found that all samples presented 2-D hexagonal structures with high degree of ordering. However, the metal content incorporated in all titanium mesoporous materials was very low, i.e., the Si/Ti molar ratio values of the final calcined samples are significantly different from the initial Si/Ti molar ratio in the synthesis gel. A study of mechanical stability in air was performed by exposing the calcined samples to a unidirectional external pressure in the range 74-814MPa. X-ray diffraction and nitrogen adsorption at 77K, on selected compacted samples, were used in order to evaluate the changes in mesoporous structure. It was found that, for all freshly calcined pure silica and titanium containing samples tested, the high quality SBA-15 structure is still observed after the application 148-370MPa of a unidirectional external pressure and the collapse of the pore structure occurs at around 814MPa.

The silica-based mesoporous materials were synthesized under normal atmospheric with Cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB) as surfactant, TEOS as silica source and hydrochloric acid as activator. The pore sizes distribution of mesoporous materials were adjusted by organic assistant reagent TMB(1,3,5-three toluol). The materials after and before TMB addition were characterized through XRD and IR. The results showed that the materials have regular hexagonal mesoporous structure. The structure is more regular and pore size is more bigger after TMB added.

The amine aldehydes resin-mesoporous materials complex AFC-SBA-15 was synthesized using ordered mesoporous materials SBA-15 as the carrier. The obtained compound was characterized by FT-IR,N2adsorption-desorption and scanning electron microscopy. The compound retained ordered mesoporous structure and the resin polymer coated inside channels and outside surface hole wall. The adsorption behavior was carried out with the presence of EDTA in binary components of Pb (II) and Zn (II). The result showed that with the presence of EDTA, tunable selectivity could be realized.
