ABSTRACTActive addressing is focused on TFTs and MIMs as pixel-switches. The manufacture of a-Si-TFTs tends to settle down at a three-mask process as long as risky steps can be avoided. Fabrication throughput is being enhanced by increasing the deposition rate for a-Si- and poly-Si-layers processed by PECV.D. For wider process windows and for building row drivers with a-Si-TFTs effective mobility will have to be increased beyond 1 cm2/Vs especially by new TFT-electrodes, a protective sandwich around the a-Si-layer and modified process techniques. Poly-Si-TFTs should be fabricated at temperatures below 450 °C and preferably without laser annealing before they become an economic solution. MIMs still require more materials research to find a dielectric with a larger trap density enhancing speed of operation, lower addressing voltages and electrodes for improved long-term stability. Low-temperature processes are required for LCDs with plastic substrates.

<p>Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites have attracted immense interest as a promising material for the next-generation solar cells; however, issues regarding long-term stability still require further study. Here, we develop automated experimental workflow based on combinatorial synthesis and rapid throughput characterization to explore long-term stability of these materials in ambient conditions, and apply it to four model perovskite systems: MAxFAyCs1-x-yPbBr3, MAxFAyCs1-x-yPbI3, (CsxFAyMA1-x-yPb(Brx+yI1-x-y)3) and (CsxMAyFA1-x-yPb(Ix+yBr1-x-y)3). We also develop a machine learning-based workflow to quantify the evolution of each system as a function of composition based on overall changes in photoluminescence spectra, as well as specific peak positions and intensities. We find the stability dependence on composition to be extremely non-uniform within the composition space, suggesting the presence of potential preferential compositional regions. This proposed workflow is universal and can be applied to other perovskite systems and solution-processable materials. Furthermore, incorporation of experimental optimization methods, e.g., those based on Gaussian Processes, will enable the transition from combinatorial synthesis to guide materials research and optimization.</p>

Highly stable perovskite solar cells are achieved by passivating the grain boundaries with PDMS to inhibit the water–perovskite reaction and reduce the trap density, ensuring complete photovoltaic operation even after 5000 h under RH 70%.

Most studies focus on introducing of doped ceria carbonate into cathode materials to enhance the cathode ionic conductivity for low temperature solid oxide fuel cell. In this work, we aim to identify the influence of Lithium/Natrium binaries (Li/Na)2 carbonates addition on Lanthanum Strontium Carbonate Ferrite-Samarium-Doped Ceria (LSCF-SDC) composite cathode on the phase and microstructural stability under long-term durability of 1000 h. Three different binaries (Li/Na)2 carbonate of 67:33, 62:38, and 53:47 mol.% were incorporated into LSCF-SDC via high energy ball milling method. The phase and microstructural stability as a function of operating temperature (400 and 600 °C) were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). Archimedes principle was applied to evaluate the porosity of the cathode pellets. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements were performed by using impedance setup at 600 °C under open-circuit condition. The XRD findings demonstrated that cathodes able to retain their chemical phases after stability test. Qualitative results show that the cathode morphology exhibits a slight increment on the particle size after the ageing process at 1000 h. All cathodes prepared at various binary carbonate ratio still maintain their porosity values between 26 and 32% after long-term stability test. This finding has yielded a smaller area specific resistance of 0.66 Ω.cm2 at 600 °C. Therefore, incorporating binary (Li/Na)2 carbonate in LSCF-SDC shows a good combination when insignificant changes observed after long-term stability test of 1000 h.
