ABSTRACTThe title monomer diacetylene with α-nitronyl nitroxide as pendants was synthesized and polymerized by heating in vacuum. The magnetic properties of the polymer were studied, and it was found that this organic polymer showed weak ferromagnetism.

This work describes the design and realisation of an apparatus to measure simultaneously the AC magnetic properties and the temperature distribution on the top surface of bulk superconducting samples (up to 32 mm in diameter) in cryogenic conditions (temperature range 78-120 K). First the authors describe the experimental set-up used for simultaneous thermal and magnetic characterization of the sample. Next, the authors describe the practical considerations required for generating the large AC magnetic fields, possibly in the presence of DC fields. Then the authors present the data acquisition system allowing both temperature and magnetic data to be recorded at high a sampling rate.” The performances and limitations of the system are discussed.

Materials with both electrical and magnetic properties are required for various applications ranging from electric and magnetic shields, molecular electronics, and sensors to microwave absorbers. Conducting polymers with the addition of magnetic oxides composites are suitable for such uses. Such is the case of the polyaniline (PANI), an organic polymer, mixed with magnetite. We have prepared through a new chemical method a PANI/ Fe3O4 composite with different amount of magnetic oxide from 0.3% m/m on the composite up to 42% m/m. The final product is a powder with good solubility in some organic solvents as chloroform. Structural morphological studies, transport properties (the electrical conductivity as a function of temperature) and magnetic characterization were performed on the oxides, on PANI and on the composites. We have explored the answer of these composites as absorbers in the microwave region to determine its potential technological application. An interesting magnetoresistance (MR) behavior was observed. The results are related to the particle size and to the influence of the percentage of oxide in the composite.

The present paper investigates the utilization of the magnetic Barkhausen noise and magnetic permeability methods for the nondestructive characterization of annealed non-oriented electrical steel samples which were isothermally annealed in a wide range of temperatures (400°C – 950°C) and subsequently cooled in air. The resulting magnetic properties were compared with the microstructural changes occurring during annealing.

Co3O4 powder was added to barium hexaferrite by powder metallurgy process to determine its effect on the magnetic properties. The variation of the addition of Co3O4 are 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 5.0 wt%. Characterization and magnetic testing included density calculation, Permagraph test, and XRD were performed in order to elucidate the effect of Co3O4 addition to its structure and magnetic properties of barium hexaferrite. The magnetic density obtained was in the ranges of 3.2 - 4.35 g/cm3. From the permagraph test, it is found that the value of remanence (Br) was in between 1.18 and 1.5 kG. The value of coercivity (Hc) was in the range of 0.594 - 3.366 kOe, and the maximum product energy (BHmax) was found to be in between 0.07 and 0.48 MGOe. From the XRD analysis, it was found that two types of barium hexaferrite were formed, namely barium hexaferrite type M(BaFe12O19) and X(Ba2Fe30O46). It is concluded that the addition of the Co3O4 compound increased the value of magnetic density and decreased magnetic properties.
